Now that is a sample tray

I stop by this little slice of heaven with a couple of friends and my family. Had a great time, and a great meal. While they were out of the evening's special. They had a great pizza and one heck of a sample tray. There was a great live band playing some County music and some classic music. And!!! The tables in the Gem are covered with black chalk board paint. Just ask for some chalk and relive some childhood memories.

Popped in here on a whim during a road trip and was glad I did! With fun, inventive beers and a solid food selection this was a perfect spot to rest up between drives. And who can beat they're slogan!?

Paddlefish Stout and a fresh cookie. Yum!

Best beer in MT! The Paddlefish Stout is my favorite. Served with a fresh chocolate chip cookie! There are several beers on tap. The Gem has great food! Try the Longhorn Platter! Delicious pizzas! A special every night.

Randomly came across this place after visiting Teddy Roosevelt National Park and deciding to 'venture into Montana'. :) GREAT beer and AWESOME root beer. Fun atmosphere. Owner was very nice and personable. You can order food from the place next door. We had a pretty decent pizza. A little gem in a beautiful part of the world! :)

Delicious dark brew - - one for he & one for me ! !

Connected (via walk-through) to the brewery is a music theater (GEM) with a live stage where they have really good talent from time to time.

Tiny little spot in a tiny town…read more. We immediately loved the feel of this place as the locals in the bar were welcoming. We ordered a flight of beer to try some different styles and the beers were ok at best. The favorite of the bunch was probably the chili beer. All in all loved this place, loved the hospitality and we'd come back just for that and maybe try some of the other beers (maybe they're better)

That's Cross Country Brewing, or at least that was my experience of it. After a long day of driving, me, my girlfriend, and my mother were in the mood for a beer or two, so we jumped when we saw that there was a brewery in town. Glendive, after all, isn't exactly a metropolis with microbreweries at every intersection. Indeed, Glendive (or at least Cross Country Brewing) fit the stereotype of the hostile small town that doesn't much like outsiders. As soon as the three of us walked in we were greeted with that ominous silence and a blank, "What do you expect from me?" look on the face of the thin, bearded, ballcap'd bar tender. No "Hi" "What can I get for you?" "I recommend our famous..." etc. Nope. We picked our beers from the chalkboard menu, ordered them, he poured 'em, and then pushed them over to us with an empty, emotionless stare. I didn't get it. We just looked like normal people, not the Addams family. Why the random unfriendly attitudes? It didn't matter how kind or full of smiles we were, it was like our very presence was an insult to the establishment. Geez, sorry we were trying to give you our money. We promise not to bother you again.

Here's my experience: I came in on a Friday evening around…read more6:15. The restaurant was about 65% full, so it wasn't slammed. I was seated in plain sight....easily visible to all five of the young waitresses working that evening. Over the next several minutes, I watched them serve food, refill waters, and check in with other tables around me. Not once did any of them acknowledge me. No "someone will be right with you," no "we're a little behind," not even eye contact or a smile. Nothing. It was as if I was completely invisible. I gave them the benefit of the doubt...maybe they were overwhelmed or distracted. So I waited. But then, three of them gathered behind the bar to chat and regroup. They saw me sitting there and even asked each other out loud, "Has anyone helped that table?" They looked confused, shrugged it off, and went right back to their conversation. Still, no one came over. No one claimed responsibility. I didn't even get a glass of water. I sat there for nearly 10 minutes. Not a word. Not a glance. I finally got up and calmly walked out. Several nearby guests actually gave me sympathetic looks--they could see what was happening too. And here's the kicker: I had plenty of time to look through the menu, and honestly, the prices felt a bit high for what was being offered. Nothing jumped out or made me eager to order. Maybe that was because I was starting to feel dehydrated from the lack of water. For the record, I'm just an average guy, clean and respectful, fresh out of the shower with a spray of cologne. I wasn't rude, disruptive, or hard to miss. Bottom line: I felt completely dismissed and ignored. I won't be coming back. Best of luck to the team--I hope service improves for future guests

We also fell in love with their french fries. They were just so good! Crispy on the outside, seasoned perfectly, and light and fluffy on the inside. They also have a ton of dipping sauces, so if you're a dipping sauce fan like I am, try them all! I absolutely loved having my cocktails served up in a giant cowboy boot glass! The food and drinks were great, the waiters were easy going and personable - the service was fast too! The inside of the restaurant is like walking into an old western saloon - They've got saddles and other horse tack hanging up everywhere, and they have wagon wheel style tables and live edge wooden tables too - so cool! Totally recommend this place for anybody visiting Medora or just passing through!

We found a table towards the back. Waitress came over quickly took our drink order and was back to take our dinner order. Waitress was very sweet, busy taking orders and bussing her tables. But service was great. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side salad $ 2.00 up charge, but very fresh. Sandwich was over cooked and very salty. My husband order the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken which he truly enjoyed as well as a cold beer.
