This place really had an old style look to it like you were really inside of an Old English Pub which was really cool, the beers were really good, there isn't much for food but we had a soft pretzel with dipping cheese and that was amazing. I thought this was a really charming place. The only negative thing I have to say is that the ordering system is a little confusing because you seat yourself but there's table service. It seems like they would benefit from an "order to table" type system so they don't have to keep coming outside to check (not that it bothers me at all, just felt bad having them need to do it). Beer list is big and expansive and also very straightforward. I appreciated the thorough tasting notes. They do also have food (small bites mainly like cheese and charcuterie) but they're super chill about you bringing stuff in which is nice. We picked up Gus's right down the street. I loved the beer and the service was excellent. They're super helpful and kind people. The space is beautiful too. I wasn't surprised to see that they do weddings. Brewery Becker has one of the most gorgeous Biergartens we've ever visited. The greenery and flowers, the table tops with fire strips, fire pits, and dog friendly. Favorite brewery in Brighton! The Hefeweizen beer is my go to beer here. Also, do your a favor and try the warm pretzel and add a side of beer cheese (little up charge but totally worth it!). It's absolutely delicious! Plus, the side of beer cheese is shareable with two people. They have an outdoor patio available if you want to sit outside, which makes for great ambiance. We stopped in here a couple weekends ago when we were staying in Ypsi. We were looking up pet friendly breweries and decided to drive a little further out to try it and I'm glad we did! The outdoor patio is so beautiful and has lots of flowers, bushes, trees, etc. They have several fire pits, large tables for big groups, and smaller tables for couples or a small group of friends. We ordered quite a lot of different beers to try since we were only in town from Indy for the weekend and they were all very good! My fiancé ran across the street to pick up a pizza from Bourbons since they do not serve food, so it was nice to be able to bring in something yourself. We stayed on the patio for about 4 hours enjoying the weather and beers with our dogs and had a great time. We will definitely be back! read more

Enjoyed our evening on their patio with some quality beer. Their beer garden is fantastic and the service was great. We had a large table away from everyone, which worked perfect for us with little kids. The beer list had something for everyone and they had a few options for food. They let you bring food in from other restaurants which a few of us did. We ordered their pretzel as an appetizer and then ordered entrees from a restaurant nearby. My favorite place that I visited in Brighton. Brewery Backer is a pretty large German-style brewery right in the heart of Brighton. The building has 3 levels plus a cute, socially distanced biergarten. Every beer I had was delicious and reasonably priced at $5.50 for a pint. The food is German-style. I highly recommend that you create your own meat & cheese board and get some pretzels with beer cheese to go with it. Everyone that works there is friendly and well-informed of the brewery's food, drink, and history. One server, Anthony, was out of this world awesome. Lots of parking on the street and in surrounding lots. Located in the Brighton Downtown area near the millpond. The building is interesting looking on the inside with several floors that you can see from the main floor. Great open area that can be rented out for parties. We were there for a graduation party, so I'm not sure what the costs are to rent here. The food was OK, it was barbecue sliders, sausages, chicken wings, mac & cheese, beans and a kale salad. The salad was warm, which I don't think it was meant to be. The rest the food was on the dry side, but I don't think people come here for the food. They had a lot of great drinks in the beer options and people seem really really happy with those choices. I would recommend this place for the location, the interior ambience, and IPA beers. read more

Wow! Fantastic atmosphere! Great brew! IPA, is delicious! This brewery is one of a kind! Hands down classy and yet hip. The outside patio is fit for a wedding. The inside is fit for a party! Two floors! Accessible for all types of disabilities. Elevator makes it easy to be apart of the event or party. Bathrooms are super clean! Plenty of seating! The service is solid! I like the GM, super professional. I'm an investor and I like to keep things professional. There is no actual restaurant/kitchen for food, HOwEver, bring in food from a certified kitchen or restaurant down the street and chow here and enjoy a great brew of choice!! Parking, it's not a problem. Parking is shared with the local bank after 5 pm I believe. There is also plenty of public parking across the train tracks. Matt, the owner, is super down to earth! Don't be shy to say hi to him. Look for the tall guy with a pony-tail. He is super friendly and loves to share the story and experience of creating one of Brighton's finest brewery's. This place has a beautiful location, and their outdoor space is awesome. BUT. I'm convinced they hate large groups. I've been there with just my husband, and also now with a few different larger parties, and the experiences were night and day. When I was there with the different larger parties, they watched us like hawks, the manager even rushing upstairs one of the times (even though he clearly wasn't working up there) so he could stand behind the bar and stare us down. We weren't doing anything except probably being a bit loud and laughing a lot, which...I mean, it's a Friday night with a group of friends, at a bar. What do you expect? So, basically if you have a couple people, you'll probably have a great time. If you're with more than 5 people, I'd avoid at all costs. We recently went here for a wedding, and I was impressed with how nice it was. I came here once before for drinks, and I had no idea they even had an upstairs that can be used for events. The upstairs isn't huge, but it fit 60 people comfortably. It also had a bar and a loft area where they had games set up. The drinks are great. I really enjoyed their fruit braggot, and my husband enjoyed the heather ale. If you are planning a small event, this is a great place to have it at. We will be back again soon for drinks. read more

The traditional beer menu is excellent and anyone can find one they like. I suggest the apple beer if you're not into the others. I'm on the fence between giving this place 3 and 4 stars, but since I liked it enough to come give it another chance I'll go with 4 stars. Their outdoor seating is not only beautiful but dog friendly! The day we came our server informed us that the kitchen was having problems and we couldn't order the pretzel nor the sausages. "Basically the chips and salsa, and those are just store bought now." So we skipped the food and were disappointed, but I guess these things happen. The beer saves this place! Order a flight and sample all they have to offer. I loved each of the beers I had (I had a flight of 8 beers). These are not your run of the mill craft brews, they were just so good. Before I even walked in, I noticed a couple walk out, quickly followed by a worker wiping down the exterior door handles. Top notch! This place is gorgeuos! Very ornate and they took a lot of time with the remodel. BUT, it's nothing I would expect from a place that serves beer only, much less German lagers. The ambiance is more deserving of finer dining. They don't serve food other than popcorn and hot pretzels. I did see a couple bring in a pizza. And they were playing Oldies. I was confused with the vibe that they were trying to go for. The staff's appearance was more of what you would see at the Harley Store, but super friendly, knowledgeable and good service. The table felt a bit small for a flight of 10. There's no way another person could have sat with us. I went with a Groupon and though I kept an open mind, I didn't hear many good things prior to my visit regarding the beer. I ordered a flight of 10. Out of those 10, I enjoyed 1. The beer did not seem as cold as it should have been and some seemed to have the same finishing flavors. Beer is such a personal thing!! The patio looks great for summertime, but sadly, unless they get some better brew, I don't think I'll be back. We dropped in on an unseasonably warm day in February to check this place out. Their parking lot is small but there is plenty of parking close by. The building has interesting history and it's been beautifully restored, which I appreciate. We didn't try any food but wanted a few beers. We tried the Vargdricka (gruit ale), Dubbel (deep amber), Saison, Fruit Braggot, and the Hefeweizen. The beers are very good, I think a more classic and historic interpretation of beer making. We weren't able to drink all of the fruit braggot, it was very thick and sweet. Of the beers, I liked the Saison the best. The staff was reasonably friendly... one of the women working seemed a bit short and not very friendly, but the gentleman that checked on us later and who worked behind the bar was really nice. I think they were working with limited staff and the warm weather brought out a lot of people unexpectedly. There are so many good breweries in the area I'm not sure I would choose this place again, but it was a decent experience. read more

This may be my favorite beer spot of all time! I wasn't sure what expect going in, but I came across a deal on groupon that I couldn't pass up. Made the drive out to brighton and was NOT disappointed. The atmosphere is just great. I was in the downstairs area where the brewroom is and the way it is set up is just perfect. Natural lighting, a single TV, and tables set up for two people. It is spaced out in a way so that you feel like you have privacy. I was here on a Friday and it did get busy, but it never felt too crowded due to the layout. As the other reviews have said, you are not going to be ordering burgers or pizza at this place. However, I really enjoyed the snack setup they had. You pay 1 dollar and get self serve, all you can eat popcorn. They keep it fresh and warm and have powdered seasoning to top it with (two cheese seasonings and a powdered butter flavor seasoning) as well as hot sauce and salt. The main attraction of course, is their unique brews. When I went they had 12 different ones to choose from and, as you can see in my picture, I tried all of them! They offer so many varied styles, that even the biggest of beer snobs in your group should find something they like and/or haven't tried before. If you want to take beer home they have an option for that too, using one of their mini jugs to bring it home in (don't think thats the technical name for it, but you know what I mean! ) The prices here are much more fair than what I was expecting. Specialty brew houses with hipster clientele often charge insane prices but you'll find none of that here. I was very impressed. The staff was also very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Overall, I cannot imagine the experience getting much better than this. This would be the PERFECT place to bring a date, as the intimate, distraction free atmosphere fully lends itself to bonding and making memories. This effect will be amplified as the weather gets nicer and the outdoor beer garden becomes an option. I will definitely be going here again very soon and I suggest you do the same! read more

First time here. Love the look and everyone was super helpful and friendly. They offered suggestions and samples. I chose the Entire Butt(yes that's the name) it was a Stout with a slight coffee flavor although there is not any coffee in it. My husband went with a sour the Hildesheimer which he really enjoyed. The drafts are $5.50 and they have a small selection of food on the menu as well. Being more of a wine drinker I was very happy to hear they have applied for a wine license. I will be excited when that happens. The patio looks great so hopefully I can try it out in the warmer months. I do see a bonfire outside which I'm hoping to go stand by before I leave. read more

Visited the brewery during an weekday afternoon, so I didn't experience the evening atmosphere. However, the brewery wasn't too loud or crowded so that I could enjoy my beer. The location is neat - a revamped building from the 19th century. They've done a lot of work to make this business appealing to customers. An additional benefit of an older building is their ability to store the beer in basement casks which keep the final products at a uniform temperature. The brewery specializes in lagers and has a relatively wide selection of styles. The day we went, they were out of one of their top sellers - the Vargdricka. Definitely try their Bean Soup beer. The name doesn't sound appealing, but the beer itself is delicious. It would be nice if they had happy hour specials. read more

This is first and foremost a brewery, they don't really serve food. Popcorn, Pretzels the usual salty fair to make you thirsty. They don't seem to have a problem with you bringing food in from other places. They sometimes run Groupons for flights. It's a good way to sample various beers. Almost all beers here are darker - Ambers and Stouts, they brew according to "Viking Recipes and Tradition ". The selection rotates regularly. They have done some straw/gold color beers. I'm m a big fan of their Hefeweizen. Lots of board games to play and a decent amount of seating, and a great patio in the summer. read more
