Quaint family owned shop in Brighton. It's a wonderful time for the whole family, young and old. I personally enjoy their many cheese options and the unique flavours of ice cream. I also appreciate their allowing me to sample something questionable. Kinda selly in the long run because I'm going to like it and buy it, anyway. It's more than that. In the handful of times we've been here, they seem to know us the second we walk in. They usually can recall where the conversation left off....usually 6 months later! I'm not a crepe guy but the other three in our party are. The compliments range from incredible to awesome. I'm more the beer guy and the good news is this place is craft beer capital. Culture Beer & Cheese is my favorite store in downtown Brighton and I don't even drink beer. I come here for the made-in-Michigan fruit preserves and meat as well as the delicious crepes. I ordered the Brie Didn't Start the Fire crepe and it was the best lunch I had in weeks. I can tell it was made with high-quality ingredients. I did a takeout order and after eating it I wanted to return to the store to buy the brie and hot pepper jelly used in the crepe. This shop is a must-visit when in Brighton. read more

I've gone to Culture multiple times. Just so you all know, my mom is friends with the owner, so that might give some bias, but still this place is AMAZING. The store is cozy for being tucked it a little space in Downtown Brighton, and the cheese is superb, not to mention the INSANE selection of beer and wine. They even have ice cream! Really poor experience at this establishment. While looking through the products, I accidentally knocked over a $9 salt shaker. Not only was I extremely embarrassed, I immediately asked the female owner if I could pay for the product which she replied with a reassuring "it's okay". Embarrassed, I then went to leave and the male owner followed me out with broom still in hand accusing me of not paying. With my family, I was humiliated, very uncomfortable and confused. I would have NEVER left had the female owner accepted my offer of payment. As someone who has supported this establishment throughout the years, I will no longer be giving them my business after this event. read more

This place has rare craft beers of all kinds and their party platter is incredible. The owners are really nice and their son actually shared his toys with my girls. Nice atmosphere and places inside and outside to sit. Masks are required, but they appeared to have ones for free if you forgot it. While wandering around downtown Brighton we stumbled on Culture Beer & Cheese! They have a variety of offering including sweet/savory crepes, local bottled beer for purchase, specialty meats and cheeses you could have sliced/cut while you wait, and ice cream. It was a chilly winter day and we had just eaten lunch so we opted to take home some beer (Oddside Ales "Firefly") and some amazing sharp cheddar. They offer free tastings so we tried it first and WOW- it was an American made sharp cheddar that had little crunchy bits of honey in it. We totally loved this place. We came in with our little boy and ordered a ham and cheese crepe and a couple beers. They crepe was fantastic and they have a nice cross section of beers wine and other interesting food accoutrements. They also have an entire cheese counter and a gelato counter, both of which we can't wait to delve into. We recently order a small charcuterie platter of meat and cheese. I was super impressed with the presentation and quality. Usually the charcuterie platter gets lightly picked over, not this year. My family is a self proclaimed cheese family so I was already hesitant that the small might not be a enough and I was right. I'd likely go a size larger then you think you will need just because of how well it is received. Everyone kept saying how good it was. TLDR- The charcuterie is awesome. I absolutely love this place. They have the best selection of unique cheese and beer, and the owners/staff are so friendly! On several occasions they've spent a ton of time helping me select cheeses (including sampling many of them) and beers for my husband. They have also been wonderful in navigating my son's food allergies. Grilled Cheese Friday is always a hit, and don't miss their walking charcuterie anytime there's a festival or event downtown. I'm sad to see many negative reviews from people who clearly have never even been in the shop, which are clearly intended to hurt the owners because of their perceived political ideations because they ask people to mask upon entry (the fact that masking has become so politicized is insane to me, but I won't start that rant here). EVERY time I've been in the shop, I've watched the owners deal with people who refused to mask up with such class and grace. Personally, I appreciate that they require masks as I'm high-risk. They have a supply available at the door for people who've forgotten theirs, yet I've seen them get sworn at, called all sorts of names, and they just let it roll off. If I witness the harassment every time I've been in the shop, I can't even imagine the amount of times per day that these people are mistreated. I wish I had even a fraction of that patience.
