Quaint family owned shop in Brighton. It's a wonderful time for the whole family, young and old. I personally enjoy their many cheese options and the unique flavours of ice cream. I also appreciate their allowing me to sample something questionable. Kinda selly in the long run because I'm going to like it and buy it, anyway. It's more than that. In the handful of times we've been here, they seem to know us the second we walk in. They usually can recall where the conversation left off....usually 6 months later! I'm not a crepe guy but the other three in our party are. The compliments range from incredible to awesome. I'm more the beer guy and the good news is this place is craft beer capital. Culture Beer & Cheese is my favorite store in downtown Brighton and I don't even drink beer. I come here for the made-in-Michigan fruit preserves and meat as well as the delicious crepes. I ordered the Brie Didn't Start the Fire crepe and it was the best lunch I had in weeks. I can tell it was made with high-quality ingredients. I did a takeout order and after eating it I wanted to return to the store to buy the brie and hot pepper jelly used in the crepe. This shop is a must-visit when in Brighton. read more

I've gone to Culture multiple times. Just so you all know, my mom is friends with the owner, so that might give some bias, but still this place is AMAZING. The store is cozy for being tucked it a little space in Downtown Brighton, and the cheese is superb, not to mention the INSANE selection of beer and wine. They even have ice cream! Really poor experience at this establishment. While looking through the products, I accidentally knocked over a $9 salt shaker. Not only was I extremely embarrassed, I immediately asked the female owner if I could pay for the product which she replied with a reassuring "it's okay". Embarrassed, I then went to leave and the male owner followed me out with broom still in hand accusing me of not paying. With my family, I was humiliated, very uncomfortable and confused. I would have NEVER left had the female owner accepted my offer of payment. As someone who has supported this establishment throughout the years, I will no longer be giving them my business after this event. read more

This place has rare craft beers of all kinds and their party platter is incredible. The owners are really nice and their son actually shared his toys with my girls. Nice atmosphere and places inside and outside to sit. Masks are required, but they appeared to have ones for free if you forgot it. Very knowledgeable about cheese, meats and craft beers in and out of state. I recommend it!! read more

While wandering around downtown Brighton we stumbled on Culture Beer & Cheese! They have a variety of offering including sweet/savory crepes, local bottled beer for purchase, specialty meats and cheeses you could have sliced/cut while you wait, and ice cream. It was a chilly winter day and we had just eaten lunch so we opted to take home some beer (Oddside Ales "Firefly") and some amazing sharp cheddar. They offer free tastings so we tried it first and WOW- it was an American made sharp cheddar that had little crunchy bits of honey in it. I love this spot! They have so much more than just craft beers and an amazing cheese selection. Think anything you could ever want for a charcuterie board (fig jam, fancy mustards, etc), a full crepe menu, and a whole case of gelato! And the owners are absolutely wonderful people. We totally loved this place. We came in with our little boy and ordered a ham and cheese crepe and a couple beers. They crepe was fantastic and they have a nice cross section of beers wine and other interesting food accoutrements. They also have an entire cheese counter and a gelato counter, both of which we can't wait to delve into. The shoppe is a delight and the couple that owns it are wonderful as is their little boy who's here often greeting patrons. Totally worth checking out! read more

We recently order a small charcuterie platter of meat and cheese. I was super impressed with the presentation and quality. Usually the charcuterie platter gets lightly picked over, not this year. My family is a self proclaimed cheese family so I was already hesitant that the small might not be a enough and I was right. I'd likely go a size larger then you think you will need just because of how well it is received. Everyone kept saying how good it was. TLDR- The charcuterie is awesome. People are going to eat it like crazy, order a size larger to accommodate increased demand. read more

I absolutely love this place. They have the best selection of unique cheese and beer, and the owners/staff are so friendly! On several occasions they've spent a ton of time helping me select cheeses (including sampling many of them) and beers for my husband. They have also been wonderful in navigating my son's food allergies. Grilled Cheese Friday is always a hit, and don't miss their walking charcuterie anytime there's a festival or event downtown. I'm sad to see many negative reviews from people who clearly have never even been in the shop, which are clearly intended to hurt the owners because of their perceived political ideations because they ask people to mask upon entry (the fact that masking has become so politicized is insane to me, but I won't start that rant here). EVERY time I've been in the shop, I've watched the owners deal with people who refused to mask up with such class and grace. Personally, I appreciate that they require masks as I'm high-risk. They have a supply available at the door for people who've forgotten theirs, yet I've seen them get sworn at, called all sorts of names, and they just let it roll off. If I witness the harassment every time I've been in the shop, I can't even imagine the amount of times per day that these people are mistreated. I wish I had even a fraction of that patience. I certainly never expected to come across a "New York" style cheese shop in Brighton but folks, it's here and it's terrific The selection of cheeses is wonderful and if you happen to glance over your shoulder, the wall behind you is filled with all sorts of craft beers on offer. This place is such a gem to have in Brighton. I've only been there once but had a great conversation with the proprietors who are from New York City. The cheese selection is excellent. For those who aren't in the know, the reason prices are so inexpensive here is because they lower their overhead as much as possible. What this means for you... If you plan on using a cart, bring a quarter (yes, I mean 25 cents) to unlock the cart. Don't worry you'll get it back unless you're too lazy to walk it back inside. This will make more sense when you see it in person. You'll also want to bring your own carrying utensil since they don't provide bags. They also won't bag your groceries but they will put them in the cart for you. You might wait in line for a short time but the cashiers are the fastest in the business. The line moves like crap through a goose! As far as their merchandise, what are you looking for? They have pretty much anything you'd need. Nuts, chips, meat, eggs, cheese, Red Bull (although theirs is called Red Summit and tastes EXACTLY the same). They have La Croix and some other name brands but shopping their brands will only save you money and it's all the same stuff as the name brand without the well known brand name. Their packaging is almost exactly the same too. In fact if you don't pay attention you'll think you're buying your normal brand name item. Also, their beer is fantastic! I've had their brand of Grolsch (I forget the name) and their Kinroo Belgian Ale (their Blue Moon Belgian). They were both equally as good as the name brand if not better and $7 for a six pack. I was impressed. They also carry Bell's and a pretty big selection of wine which I have yet to dabble in. Their produce is above par, they have an assortment of knick-knack items for the home and overall the savings was extraordinary. I left with a smile on my face from the whole experience and the extra cash still in my pocket.

A great little beer and cheese shop in small town America. They love their customers and helping to give people the best experience possible. The cheese of the month club is to die for. Culture's owners are so knowledgeable on everything in their shop and the atmosphere is so family friendly. I love bringing my kids in to taste the gelato and leave with crepes, while my husband adores stocking his beer fridge with the rotating selection that Culture brings in. This is exactly what every small town needs - a loving family owned shop where the owners know you and your preferences by name. It takes a special kind of human to know and remember all of their regulars, what they like and dislike, and be able to curate boards and boxes around them. The selection there is absolutely phenomenal and the owner's are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met! I always take my family from out of town here for lunch when they come visit, we are NEVER disappointed. They atmosphere is always warm and welcoming and they do their best to make sure it's a safe and hate-free environment, which can be challenging with the type of people in this area. 100% recommend this place! read more
