On November's 22nd, 2019 had my headshots and comp cards session with Jordan . This is my 3rd time…read morewith him. His skills, technique and attention to details are a gift sent from heaven . I was recommended to him back in 2006 and I keep going back to him because he is simply the best!! So you know , Jordan used to be an actor . I was very surprised when he said this . Cause I asked what he did before . This made me feel , wow , even more comfortable . His headshots have gotten me into casting directors offices and every person , CD, agent , manager who have seen those headshots have only said great things about my headshots. You pay an initial deposit to book the session . You agree on a date for the shoot . His office manager will send you instruction that you must read word by word . You will be told the day before if the date needs to be change due to weather (be flexible ). Once you get to his office , you will be greeted by his office manager. This time because I was doing comp cards I brought a lot of clothes , to have as many options as posible . He can tell what colors will look great on you . Once the session is over , I think you get your stuff in two weeks . And if you want to retouch your pictures , he has a person there now who does it. Years past, I used a company but I think I am going with the new person he has . I also will advice to study his many sessions on his website . I also looked at many many other photography sessions to get ideas . I wasn't looking to hire a new photographer. I was doing my research on clothing and stuff like that . I don't know I wish I knew how he does what he does but he really has a gift . He can bring the best in you. He just has an eye for it. He is really fun, relaxed and super friendly. I am Not necessarily to comfortable in front of a cámara when it comes to pictures but with him I feel at ease . His makeup artist did a great job . They are really good at what they do. You will be in good hands and trust their process . Just so you get an idea I have taken photography classes and I love taking pictures and I have a make up artist certification. I know what I am talking about . I studied Jordan Matter's pictures meticulously and many other photographers too. I am telling you Jordan matter has a gift that nobody has been able to surpass . And of course in our session last Friday I was paying attention to a lot of how he did things . He has an eye for this . He is truly the best !!! Instead of paying cheap photographers or paying a good amount for a so-so photographer , Just go with the best from the start and his name is Jordan Matter .

No. I agree with…read moreMichelle B.'s review on here. Jordan wasn't for me and I felt bullied into my shots and felt there was an arrogance about him. Michelle B. wrote it much better than I did but I was not happy with my shots. I did not care for the makeup artist Jordan had suggested, either. I had spent a LOT of money going to Frederick Fekkai earlier that morning to get my hair blown out and Jordan's HMU artist quickly dumped greasy goop into my hair (without asking) making it like an oily mess. When I was asking Jordan about it he condescendingly said to: "just trust her and she knew what she was doing." The weirdest part was when I had come in I had my folder of acting stuff with me and I had gone to the bathroom to change - and when I got out of the bathroom Jordan and his HMU artist were going through my folder commenting nastily about my old headshots. I had never, ever told them it was okay to go through my folders. Imagine how upset I was when I found out my manager (at the time, I have a much better one now) admitted months after he was was using my OLDER headshots (the ones I had in my folder oddly enough) to get me called in bc my Jordan photos were not getting me called in. He didn't want to admit to me "I had wasted $1200.00" Those were my manager's exact words! I was fuming. I fired that manager and thankfully have someone much more honest now. As actors, we learn the best from experience and I agree with Michelle when she says that Jordan should stick to dancers and not do actor shots at all. I would also suggest to consider it a 'red flag' when any acting 'guru' or teacher tells you that you HAVE to go to ONE photographer and ONE PHOTOGRAPHER only - there is a possibility referral kickbacks are going on. A sad, shady part of our business. There are MANY amazing photographers in NYC and LA. Many. To thine own self be true. Trust your gut. As a person of color, make sure you do extra super-duper research to make sure those photographers can light you well. As a POC you have to be on your career 150% so do it.

Pat Hill Private Sessions - I was tired, but this is lovely.

She was one of the first and only women photographers for penthouse. This is both prestigious in its novelty but I also believe speaks to Pat's professionalism and understanding of how to make women look gorgeous in or out of clothes. Pat helped me choose the perfect clothes from my own wardrobe to suit the intention of the photo shoot. She brings in the most amazing hair and make-up. It truly is runway gorgeousness. I am not a model. Pat builds on whatever natural strengths you bring to the table in terms of body awareness (for me it was soccer, ballet...) and teaches you all the rest. I was so nervous for my first boudoir shoot that Pat (who knew me by now) kept shooting until I was exhausted enough to relax. I've sent friends, clients and all sorts of people I love to her and she has taken exquisite care of them. Last point, I was always terrified of taking more risqué/fantasy shots because 1.) I'm pretty demure and 2.) I wanted none of the Terry Richardson skeevyness. I don't want a date, I want gorgeous photos. I also wanted someone who could bring out my unique beauty (I'm Latina and I've had photographers try to photoshop by forehead, my jawline to make me look more "proportional"). Pat makes you feel gorgeous and then gives you evidence to boot. She is a high quality photographer and an artist. You will get quality and expertise for a great price. But, mind you she is not dirt cheap. And, honestly photos last forever, don't you want to get some great ones now while you are still stunning and beautiful. Ps. I've shared a bunch of pics so you can see the range. And, some new ones she took for my latest biz launch.

Pat took the time long before the shoot to learn about me, what I was looking for, things I liked (and didn't like) about other photos I'd seen. By time the day of the shoot rolled around, everything was so professional and - most important to me - comfortable. There was no cheesy "hey baby, you're so hot" BS. The hair and makeup person she uses is amazing. I was concerned that the makeup might be too heavy, but that was not the case at all. It was me, only better - exactly what makeup is supposed to be. As for outfits and poses, I had some ideas, but Pat also had some great ideas of her own. Totally natural and sexy! The prints themselves were breathtaking! Of course there is a little retouching - that's why you go to a professional in the first place, right? Pat will work with you and make sure that the amount is just right - not too much or too little. If you're still reading this, just stop and email Pat to set up a time to discuss your photo shoot. I'm currently pregnant with our first child and wanted to capture timeless maternity photos of myself and my partner. I honestly wasn't sure where to begin. Most of my friends and family have had children long ago and used Sears or JCPenney. Not that the latter is a bad thing, but it wasn't the style I envisioned. So I took my search to Instagram. With one hashtag, Brilianna was among a few businesses the came up. I made a quick and easy inquiry and the rest was history. From the very first call, Irina was so easy to work with. She asked me what I had in mind then gave me a full rundown of her services. Moreover, she was honest with her capabilities. We had an out of box idea that we wanted to try as an announcement. She was honest that she'd try but her expertise was more timeless than comedic. We ended up not doing it and not because of Irina, but because we no longer felt it was necessary. After that first call, I felt confident booking with her and canceled all other business inquiries. I booked the 'Classic Session' which included a fully guided session, professional makeup and styling, and up to 4 looks. As part of the looks, you have the option of using their beautiful gowns and wraps for your photos. For me, this took a large load off of me. Imagine having to buy 4 different dresses for a maternity shoot and on top of that, figure out sizing, transport, etc. It would've been a hassle (just an FYI - you can bring your own, but her selection is soooo beautiful and high quality, there is no need to!). More than the gowns, I think this was just a great value for everything provided. Most of the photographers I had found during my search, did not include nearly as much as I received. After paying my deposit, Irina remained communicative and I received an easy guide that helped my partner and I fully prepare for our session. Fast forward to the day of our session, it felt like such a relaxing day. The studio is spacious, clean, and modern. I got straight to hair and makeup with Kristen. She was a gem - very kind, welcoming, attentive, and helpful from start to finish. I loved her work as well. Kristen did a soft glam look with beautiful blending. In addition, she added soft waves to my hair that held up nicely throughout the shoot and the rest of the day. Later in the morning, Irina came in and worked her magic. I showed her the looks I wanted and she gave her expertise on what would work best. Kristen acted as a stylist and helped keep me flawless throughout the shoot, while Irina guided me. I was nervous taking photos in my pregnant body. But Irina did a great job guiding me and encouraging me to relax. Her being a mom as well, it was nice to have her reassurance and tips. We went thru each look, including a few with my partner. At some points, I even began to cry because the experience of this moment with my partner was really heart warming. It felt very full circle. No doubt, Irina captured everything I wanted for my maternity photos - love, timelessness, and happiness. As promised, she returned the unedited proofs to us within a week and we made our final selections. I'm now waiting for the finished result but I am very pleased with the proofs. My package included 10 photos and it was truly hard to choose. That's how great her shots were! I've included some candid shots in this review which my partner took during the session. This is just to show how awesome the team worked to prep me and position me throughout the session. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my experience at Brilianna Photography. Irina has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only was she communicative, but her work speaks for itself. I cannot wait to work with her again once my bundle of joy arrives. If you are looking for a seamless, stress-free experience, don't hesitate to book with Brilianna! Highly recommended!
