I didn't want to believe that short of going to the ER there were no viable options! After ranting my frustrations to a colleague of mine she suggested I call the practice her family has been going to for many, many years. That's how I stumbled into Midwest Family Physicians. I called on Friday and was able to get an appointment for Monday. Now that's what I'm talking about! When I walked in, I checked in with the nice receptionist, filled out my paperwork and sat down in the simple waiting room. There were a few plants and plenty of new magazines to read while I waited 5 minutes before being greeted by Pat the nurse. She was so nice! We made a little small talk as she checked my weight (gahhh!), blood pressure and heart rate, which instantly calmed my nerves (something about going to the doctor is always nerve wracking!). I only had a minute or two to wait before Dr. Harazin came in. He was AWESOME! He really was thorough in his consultation. He asked detailed questions and didn't rush me at all when I was describing what was wrong. He also took the time to show me a few quick exercises I could do on my own that would alleviate some of the pain I was experiencing. I appreciated feeling like I mattered and I wasn't just another person to be seen and then quickly pushed out of the door. I have found my new doctor and I couldn't be more excited!

I had never heard of them but apparently they act like a credit reporting agency for medical care. I would have NEVER knowingly authorized this. I should have read more carefully what I was signing. That information was used to DENY health insurance coverage, even though what I had was the flu. Further, I did not see a real doctor there. They did nothing for me there and simply told me to go to the Emergency Room. A total fiasco.

That's what I got told last time I called. Then I asked to schedule 2 separate appointments on 2 different days for my child due to extreme weather and I got told we don't do that. You are only allowed one appointment. The doctors are very good at what they do. They have pretty much been spot on for the most part but they need to hire better staff and more courteous staff.

I've been a patient here for about 20 years. They have some good doctors, but the referral…read moredepartment has made it impossible to get any kind of specialist care. It has always been difficult, and blame has been consistently placed on my insurance company. It has gotten especially bad over the last couple years. I have a genetic disease that affects every bodily system, so I require a lot of referrals. Lately it seems the department just does not want to deal with me. Calls go un returned, repeatedly. So I have taken to stopping by unannounced to get things done. I am unable to maintain my weight, and am not being taken seriously. Referrals get faxed to the wrong number, so.e have the wrong phone number, and I get random referrals to places that have nothing to do with my care. I am also recently being asked to give names of doctors I want to see. That is their job, not ours as the patients. Then when I do get names, that I select based on knowledge of my condition,I get told they are out of network, and that I have no out of network care. That didn't sit right with a rare genetic disease, so I called my insurance, who stated that is false, for cases like mine, I absolutely can request out of network care. I've gone in person 2x in as many weeks, because the week prior I saw the dr, and attempted to get 2 referrals, and nothing was done with it. Phone calls placed to insurance, and was told what site the referral department should use to find me care. I called and left a voicemail with this info for referral department. After the week, I hear nothing, so I went in person. She had to rifle through several stacks of papers to find mine. It had literally sat all week with nothing being done. She then faxed the referrals, and gave me copies. I went to make the appointments, and one had the wrong fax number, so that office never got it, and the other had the wrong phone number. I went back today, and it was the same thing. As it turns out, its not just that I'm a complicated case. My coworker just started going here, and is already switching doctors again because of the referral department. Today when I arrived she was on the phone with another patient, asking them if they had the phone and fax numbers for their specialists. Again. This is not our job, its literally what she is paid for! They need a new referral lady. I really don't want to switch doctors, due to my complex issues, but it looks like I have to. I can not keep waiting. I'm already underweight, And have had to reduce my hours at work due to lack of energy, and an active job. I take the day to focus on trying to nourish my body. Honestly, things aren't looking good for me, and I feel like no one cares.

We have seen her once a year or twice a year for three years for my two son's various flu and other injuries. We are so grateful she is there. Please don't leave, Dr Kelly! If every provider were like her, our medical field would be serving all patients SO well. Here's why: She always thinks of everything without me even asking, from meds, to at home things to do, to a school note, without hesitation. She always makes a little bit of small talk with my sons, but it's like she really cares. Bonus: The place is clean, the front desk staff is friendly, calm and efficient. They smile and are efficient and great with insurance and I haven't ever received a crazy bill from them ever. The wait time has never exceeded 15 minutes. We are out within 45 min including payment and lab tests. I am not getting paid by them to say all this stuff LOL haha! I don't know anyone there either....but I just have to call out this example of urgent care DONE RIGHT. Dr Kara's-Hedrick, DNP, please always continue being the best urgent care provider we've seen! After searching and reading reviews of many different doctors, we settled on Dr. Melanie Lachman at All-Star Pediatrics. I knew we had found a winner the first time we met her. Our daughter was definitely experiencing the usual anxiety of a doctors office and began to cry when she laid eyes on Dr. Lachman. In order to sooth her, Dr. Lachman began to sing to her. Something so small really touched me deeply. I knew that she would always treat our child to the best of her abilities, even if it meant singing to her. Really, what more could we ask for??? Since that first visit, we have not been disappointed. All Star has always been able to accommodate us in a timely fashion and even at times where our baby has suddenly fallen ill. Their offices are conveniently located to our home and there is always available parking right outside of the door. The waiting room is nothing fancy, but comfortable. The staff and nurses here area also equally wonderful and have great bedside manners. I am so glad to have found All Star Pediatrics and look forward to bringing our daughter here for many years to come.
