On sunny days the shaded spots close to the pool are taken early, but it has a lot of seating space, even if they aren't right next to the pool. There's a food stall with hot dogs and that kind of stuff. You can bring your own food, but no alcohol or glass containers of any kind. Bathrooms are big and they have changing areas. The pool itself is one huge rectangle that goes from kiddie area( 2') to deep area (11'). On the deep side there are about 4-5 lanes setup for people that want to do laps. They have a separate small kids area with water slide and splash area. You can get a discount entrance if you have the westchester park pass. You can also buy a summer pool pass if you are going frequently. Lots of families at the pool, but def plenty of space to spread out in the huge pool.

Meanwhile, other guests (not Latino like us) were in the pool wearing linen shorts, and nothing was said to them. The staff, all around 18-20 years old including the so-called managers, showed no professionalism or understanding of inclusive swimwear options. The whole situation felt humiliating, unfair, and discriminatory. This pool needs better staff training and updated policies. Tuve una experiencia muy decepcionante en la piscina Sprain Ridge. At first, I was a bit hesitant with my child's bilingual challenges but they were able to combat any challenges with communication either by having me present or with little communication they were able to get by because they care. The school in general has improved in a positive way and staff is friendly outside of instructors. There are lockers for males, females, and family. Upstairs you will find four individual pools with instructors teaching different levels. On the main floor you will find a section for infants to play, screens for your child to watch tv if they are not in class, and a screen to watch your child via monitor incase you'd prefer they are not nervous and can focus without the parents/guardians presence. You have to find the instructor that can work for your child's needs. If they move up a level you then have to see if the same instructor can accommodate your schedule being that if your child moves up a level that means you need to find what times and days that instructor is teaching. The good thing is that staff does their best to accommodate your child's since a child/parent may prefer one instructor over another.

Very kids/toddler-friendly. The sizeable shallow end has several sprinklers/splash fountains for children to play in, and there are slides on both the kiddie and adult sides. Also a playground in the back (not affiliated with the pool). There are always many life guards on duty every time I've gone. The pool is accessible only to Clarkstown residents and their guests, so if you're not a resident befriend someone who is. You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.
