My husband and I ordered the Sexy Chicken (hot wings), Hot Chicken (fried chicken with EXTRA batter and EXTRA spice), and Habanero Bacon Mac and Cheese. I normally ask for the bacon to be taken out of any of food, however, the bacon is already mixed into the mac and cheese mixture. After years of avoiding bacon to the best of my ability, I caved and decided to try it anyway. I'm pretty relieved I did so because this bacon was very homestyle, with bread crumbs baked on the top of the serving, It was exquisite. As for both our chicken entrees, be prepared for some heat. It's a very delightful experience, just ask for extra napkins because your sinuses will be completely flushed. Tonight we met a guy outside of this place and happened to come inside w us. My gf and I sat down to eat, guy still talking to us, and suddenly we get kicked out by Bob. I had no idea why or what was going on- was so confused. My gf and I went to deep Ellum specifically for this place (from Frisco) and without question we were asked to leave. I asked why, and Bob said management asked me to ask you to leave. I asked to talk to management- so that I understand- as he wasn't giving me a valid reason, and he refused. I was so confused and frustrated, being pushed out. New guy friend said it was probably due to his friend who was there earlier, who took a drink outside of the bar. I said, okay? What does that have to do with us... we just got here and want to eat. Bob seemed careless and did not want to even bother with our request to learn why we were being asked to leave. We were refused service over someone we did not even know and had nothing to do with us. All we wanted was to simply eat and we were so confused. It was pouring outside and they were not busy at all on a Sunday night. We had to step outside in the strong pouring rain and find our way getting poured on. I've never felt so humiliated and embarrassed to be asked to leave over someone I don't even know and didn't have a clue why or what was going on. I love the food here and have gotten friends into this place. My perspective changed due to them not even considering what we (regulars) had to say. There was only two waitresses working the entire floor, but they managed to keep my water refilled and checked on me accordingly. Based on others. I decided to get the sauces and fixings on the side. Im glad I did, even if that meant I had to put a little work into dressing each bite. The chicken and waffle were both equally golden crispy and felt like a playground for my teeth. Possibly one of the crispiest waffles Ive had, which is saying a lot, since most times places dont even get to this level of crispiness. The chicken was flat, even to cut into, and no bones to fuss with it. It felt more like a giant chicken fried steak with how it looked. Not a single bite was dry, and I could taste the chicken with each bite. The breading itself doesn't have any pzazz in its spicing, but its forgivable when the texture was phenomenal. They had a huge dollop of butter on top of the chicken, which I immediately moved to keep the integrity of the breaded texture. Although I didnt realize it until later in the meal, but the underneath breading started to soften, due to the trapped steam between the chicken and the waffle. Next time, Ill probably move the whole chicken breast to a separate plate. The syrup and gravy further enhanced the comfort zone to indulgence in this meal. Every bite had me coming back for more with how good it was. If you are a dainty eater, you will want to share this. So my date decided to take me out to one of his favorite bars. We went on a Sunday night so I wasn't expecting it to be very busy but I was gravely mistaken, they were really poppin! Our server was great and the bar gave off a really chill vibe. I ordered the Slowpoke Rodriguez and my date ordered the Huckleberry Hound, and of course we ordered the chicken tenders to eat. The wait for our drinks and food was not too terribly long considering how busy they were. The chicken tenders were absolutely delicious! They were crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside (exactly how chicken tenders should be!) My drink on the other hand was subpar. I definitely would not go there again for drinks but will definitely be back for chicken tenders!
