My husband and I had an event in Downtown Dallas and had some time to kill. Frankie's was nearby so decided to pop in for a drink. The place has a nice neighborhood sports bar feel and was not at all pretentious. I liked it immediately. We sat at the bar and found they have a very good Happy Hour selection. Though the place was busy, bartender Kate quickly got to us and took our drink order. The drinks were really good and just the way we ordered them. We didn't eat during this short visit, but the food we saw looked delicious and I would love to come back and try it. Stopped here after work to grab Happy Hour with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty packed, and I understand why, because they had a great HH menu for cocktails and food and it lasts longer than most until 7 pm. We both also ordered the quesadillas on the HH menu and they were good and sizeable. The server was good initially, but then was nowhere to be found as time went on, so didn't love that, the manager made up for that though by providing us with a "shark attack" drink which was very sweet but a neat concept. The shark contains a shot that you pour into the drink. The espresso martinis was where it is at! They were SO good! Definitely check them out if you live or work in the area, parking isn't great so better if you're already close by. Forgot to mention they have a downstairs area which is nice for a private event and they have comedy mic nights and other events down there throughout the week also. Service was disappointing, particularly when it came to the bartenders. Throughout our visit, they repeatedly walked by without ever checking on me and my partner or asking if we needed refills (glasses were empty). Even when we flagged someone down, it took an unusually long time to receive what we asked for. I initially could not understand why the level of customer service was so poor until I received the check and saw that a 20% gratuity had automatically been added. Unfortunately, it felt like there was little incentive for the staff to provide attentive service because the tip was guaranteed regardless of the experience. Management should reconsider the automatic gratuity policy or ensure the staff is properly trained to still provide the level of service customers expect. Do better bartenders! read more

We tried the buffalo medium wings and the lemon pepper wings, both traditional, and they were really good. They were cooked perfectly, juicy the saucy and dry rub For the two were absolutely perfect. I also had a side Caesar salad that was really tasty and bigger than your general side salad. Our table also had the Cobb salad which was equally as good. My coworker/friend found this spot somehow. About a half mile walk from our hotel, we ventured here Tuesday and back again on Thursday. Tuesday was packed as we realized it was happy hour all day Tuesday which explained how lit it was. Fortunately we got a spot at the bar and went with the happy hour bottled beers which were only $4 per beer. Not bad! Food-wise, the chips and guacamole are pretty good although the chips are really thin so they'll break apart when dipping. Use that spoon as your guide. For entrees, I did the Larry Bird sandwich which is a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon, two different cheeses, and bbq sauce. Got it with sweet potato fries. Chicken was tender and moist and bbq sauce had some good flavor. Although it's not the best sandwich, it's filling and will do the job after a couple beers. Really liked the sweet potato fries which were in waffle fries format. My coworker got the wings which I was a bit envious of when seeing them, they were large and had the right sauce balance. We came back Thursday for beers and eats again at the bar. This time I went with the mediterranean wrap with those sweet potato fries. I enjoyed the wrap with the olives, cucumber, tomato, turkey and greek dressing mixed in. My friend got the cheddar burger, nothing special but it's filling; just like the larry bird sandwich. I appreciate this spot. It's not the greatest but it's got cheap beers, a fun atmosphere, and good tasty bar food (think burgers, sandwiches, bar appetizers, pizza, and some plated entrees). I've been here a few times, it's definitely become a frequent spot for a quick drink and bites when in the area. The key lime mojito is my favorite drink!! My only thing is that it's been inconsistent where I prefer it close to a slushy and sometimes it's been plain liquid so I hope the bartenders can nail it down. The food is pleasantly good! Their fish and chips aren't too bad and made out of cod. The service is pretty good and I don't have any complaints. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted by a friendly hostess and sat at a window table for 1. The worst salad I've had in a long time. I called in a pick-up order for a salad since I needed something quick between meetings. I visit Frankie's often since I work in downtown. I paid extra to add chicken to my salad and the protein portion was laughable. For $14 you can get a better salad elsewhere that is actually fulfilling and probably less money.
