When I called to make my first appointment for my shoulder the receptionist was extremely helpful booking my appointment and that was really a good start. When I finally arrived to my scheduled appointment they were very busy but I expected that since it was on a Monday. I had to wait but it wasn't that long. The staff here is very friendly and I have had nothing but a good experience here. I have been to Physical therapy in the past in "other" places and I have to say Brick-Run has been one of my best experiences. I feel that I have gotten a lot more attention here than I have in the other places I have been too. The physical therapist (Gurjeet) for me is amazing. He really is attentive and clear about what I need to do to feel better. He really spends time to stretch out my shoulder to loosen it up so that I can do some specific exercises. His staff sets me up for my specific sets of exercises. They make sure that I do them correctly. I am supervised until I understand what I am doing. I don't need someone to stare at me to do the exercises because I have to be able to do them on my own so that I can do them at home. I know that I have to put the work in to make my shoulder better but I feel that this office has really helped me with my problem. read more

Gunjit and his staff are really nice, but this is the kind of place I would describe as a "factory experience" where you are on an assembly line rather than having a truly individual experience. After sitting in a crowded waiting room, they eventually find you a chair/bed in a common area and then do the kind of physical therapy that runs up the time and insurance bill but doesn't take much individual attention--like heating you up and then hooking you up to one of those electrical stim. machines. Then a minute or two of excellent massage (extra star for that.) But what is a dog doing in there in a pen every day in the treatment area? Then you go to do some exercises with Bart trying to keep his eye on two to four people at once. I went for about a month, and they didn't give me more than the same four exercises that they assigned on Day 2, which I had been doing at home anyway, thanks to Dr. Google and YouTube. I did find a different physical therapy where the physical therapist works on me individually for an hour, so it doesn't have to be like this. I guess you can ignore the bad reviews like mine as some suggest, but don't ignore the overall lack of a quality experience. Time heals most injuries anyway, right? However, I made so much progress at the OTHER place I went to AFTER Brick Run that I decided to try to inform other Yelpers because you folks have steered me in the right direction in the past. read more

Very disappointing place. With covid, there is no temp check upon arrival. There's also no social distancing in therapy area or gym area. The dr is nice but doesn't explain anything, doesn't offer advice, nor does the trainer in the gym area. They were both very nice but not forthcoming with info. Also, my first appt i was asked to lay on an exercise mat to do some leg exercises. The mat was filthy and i had to request a towel - none offered. Again, with covid, very surprising. The receptionist is inept. She calls but doesn't leave messages. When i called to cancel an appt, the mailbox was full. I called the following day at 8 am and she said i should have called 24 hrs prior. When i explained that the mailbox was full, she said i should have emailed. No question as to whether i wanted to reschedule the appointment. I've been to many Ptherapists and this is by far the worst. read more

Gurjeet Chadha is amazing. He's very knowledgeable, energetic, compassionate, and thorough - and his massages are to die for! But I must agree with some of these other comments; the staff is not up to his level and he's constantly interrupted with their questions. Brick-run cured my arthritic knee. I didn't believe that massage and exercise would do the trick, but here I am without pain. I continue to do the exercises they taught me to maintain strong quad muscles to compensate for my weakened knee. Now that I have a shoulder injury I returned to Brick Run. Again massage and loads of exercise. They have fantastic equipment and are very well organized with skilled staff. Also, it is clear that Dr. G. really knows his stuff. I've been do half a dozen physical therapy places in manhattan since i've lived here. This one ranks the lowest. Enter small, cramped office space with fluorescent lighting and patient beds so old that they have patches on them. 6 patients at a time, doing the same routine, regardless of injury: electro stim for 15 minutes, ultra sound for 5 minutes, sit and wait for the single PT to attend to you, and do a poor quality soft-tissue massage for 5 minutes. You look around, and see 5 other people either staring at their phones waiting. When the PT finally does massage, they do not offer appropriate privacy - and you have to get massaged on your butt in front of 5 other people. after that, do a few exercises that no one supervises and get another 15 minutes of electro stim + ice. total time: 90 minutes. total time with PT talking to you: 5 minutes. Sure, everyone is nice and friendly, but are you getting good quality care? electro stim and ultrasound aren't even proven to be useful for treating soft tissue injuries, or anything for that matter. is it worth the time? absolutely not. i can lie down and stare at my phone at home, thank you,. read more

I'm surprised at the negative reviews. Yes, the place can be crowded at peak hours. That's not because they do a bad job. It's because they successfully help people lower their pain and restore their range of motion. They do a great job. I wanted to go when it was less crowded so I scheduled my sessions for off-peak times. Dr. Chadha, the Physical Therapist, gave me more useful advice about lifestyle changes and exercises than my orthopedic surgeon. I may have to get the surgery one day, but for now I can put it off. I have very mixed feelings about Brick-Run. Gurjeet is the only PT there, and I guess he seems to know what he's doing...although he gave me Kinesio Tape at one point, which shocked me because research does not support the effectiveness of the tape--and, unsurprisingly, it didn't help me at all. That said, this place also overbooks patients, and there are always at least 5-7 other people there at one time. Gurjeet can't spend any significant time with you, and as a result isn't great at answering your questions. When he does answer questions, his responses suggest that he thinks you are incapable of understanding anything above a fifth-grade level answer. I have a suspicion that he doesn't really individualize care all that much, and after assessing an injury, has a set series of treatments regardless of each person's healing progress. Plus, he'll give you exercises to do, but no one watches you do them so you could be doing them wrong and exacerbating your injury. That said, they take my health insurance and they are near where I live. If switching providers weren't such a giant pain in the butt, I definitely would. read more

The front desk staff is always helpful, and the facility is clean and even when there are multiple patients, it doesn't feel too crowded. Hands down, Gurjeet Chadha is the best physical therapist I've ever had, and unfortunately I've had experience with quite a few. Three knee surgeries, a separated shoulder from a bike crash, and this time, a torn hamstring. e understands the mechanics of injuries and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the range of possible exercises for each need (not everything works for everyone), and just how hard to push. I ripped my hamstring off the bone. I had a good surgeon, but there's an art to rehab, too. Gurjeet had me back hammering on the bike and in condition for ski season in way less time than I thought possible, based on my experience with prior injuries and rehab facilities. read more

I had a really bad ankle sprain that the doctor said was worse then a broken ankle. My foot was twice the size if the other one. It was painful to even touch it. I had arthroscopic knee surgery in January. I started with another PT 2 weeks later who made things worse. In late February, I switched to Brick-Run and was wowed by the results. I began going to Brick-Run in August for lower-back pains (herniated disc/disc bulge) and it has helped me tremendously. The staff members are very polite and attentive to your needs. They are also very professional and make your PT time go by quickly. The staff is warm and friendly. They usually play low key music that makes you feel relaxed during your session. Although, there are no private rooms, and everyone receives PT in an open area, the staff work very hard to make you feel comfortable, safe and welcome. There is only really one certified and qualified PT and he understands the trade, but the office is run like a factory. There are too many clients scheduled fir appointments at the same time, and therefore there can be an extended wait time. There is no individual attention provided when doing the exercises and therefore very little attention given to correct form or to monitoring that things are being done accurately. If it wasn't for the preferred location I don't think people would put up with this. read more

I'm so lucky, glad and relieved that I found Gurjeet, the owner and physical therapist par excelance responsible for my amazing recovery! I came to him after a bad experience at another clinic (at Mount Sinai at Union Sq., don't go there!) which made me worse by giving my exercises that were too hard before my shoulder was ready after surgery follow a complicated fracture. He has continued to work with me and my recalcitrant insurance during my ongoing recovery. I really feel like I wouldn't have made such strides without him. My only complaint is that he has recently started begun to house his dog in what is a rather small practice area, and if you are not a dog-lover (as I am not), or worse, are allergic, it is an unwelcome addition. I've been an athlete my whole life, with many injuries and thus many therapists. This office was always crowded. I never felt like my few sessions were personalized since an assistant was helping me for the most part. Not sure if i really got an full initial evaluation ( if they even do that there) ,more than 5 mins that is. I would not recommend. If you want quality individual care, skip this place. If that isn't important to you, then it's adequate. But be forewarned, it's a processing center and you will get very little attention from the only PT, unless your appt is the first one on a Saturday. Be prepared to wait for your appointment along with many others that seem to have the same appointment time, and be seriously packed in like sardines with no personal space. The energy is frenzied with many assistants multi-tasking in a "get in, get out" manner. To me, less than 5-10 minutes of total time with the PT, no matter how good, is not enough time. Went for many sessions, as it was convenient to my home, and it seemed well-run/high quality. Perhaps the owner/PT is good, but you can hardly get his attention. The assistants who send you to the next exercise (when they remember you) are mainly indifferent and sometimes reckless. I have used various physical therapists over the years for a variety of issues. Yes, some of their offices were larger and more upscale. At first I didn't think I would like Brick Run and was put off by the number of people being treated at once. But I let go of that when I got to know Dr. Chadha. He really zeroed in on my problem way better than the other therapists I had seen for this issue, and set up a course of treatment that definitely worked. You don't get to spend a lot of time with him but he does a lot of good in the amount of time he devotes. The assistants do most of the ancillary work and yes, I wish some of them were a bit more attentive to the clients. But I am overall very grateful to them for the relief I've gotten and will be heading back soon for a new issue. Scheduling off hours is best if you can manage it for less wait time. read more

Gurjeet is a great guy and really knows what he is doing. He took one look at my knee and knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix it. After just 3 weeks of therapy here I am almost 100% better. The staff is really great as well. Sometimes they are really busy because he is the only physical therapist there but if you want to be in good hands then go to Brick-Run. I would rather have an expert physical therapist who I can trust and who listens to me than one who is less experienced but has more time... but that's just me. read more

This is by far the best physical therapy place I have ever gone to. Helped rehab my left knee a few years ago and right now working on my neck after I had a nasty fall. The lead therapist and his assistants are terrific and as Charles R. said it's crowded because it's good. Waiting time is normal, sometimes a bit of a wait sometimes right away. And Dr. Chadha has the best hands of any therapist I have ever encountered. read more
