This was a fun stop. We popped in for a beer and had a lovely time. Ben was pouring beers and charming guests. He has a great energy that adds to the vibe in this place. I got a pint of their stout, being the dark beer girl that I am. It was roasty and delicious. My husband had the black IPA. I tried that too and yum! We decided to split a flight. I chose the brown and their porter. My husband chose the DIPA and the American IPA. All solid brews. This would be worth a re-visit on another MI trip. read more

The beer here leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. Vienna lager was ok. "Name this beer" was not good. It had almost a medicinal/sour taste to it. My first review of Brick Haven was over two years ago and was primarily focused on the good beer and excellent service. This time around, I want to focus on the food because their kitchen staff is phenomenal and they deserve it. I have had many different dinners from Brick Haven and I can honestly say that I have never had one thing I didn't like or couldn't eat. Last night, I had their beef birria tacos (weekly rotating special) with elotes (fancy corn) and I wanted more. Not because they weren't filling but because I was willing to be uncomfortably stuffed in order to just keep eating them they were so good. If I could, I would give this place 10 stars. My husband and I were on the brew trail, and didn't notice until we were at the front door that there was only 10 minutes until closing time. Figuring we would have a quick beer and run- we stayed for a bit. We live outside flint, and I would drive just to come here. Great beers and great staff. We talked with the owner for a long time, and honestly out of the 8 breweries we went to yesterday, this was by far the best. Stationed in a remodeled old church/city hall, this place is huge. Have tried to make this place a couple times and finally made it in with a to go order ( before the kitchen closed as the bar is open another hour later) . Food was delicious and as described in the rotating menu. The locally brewed beer and wine were outstanding. In talking with one of the founders, we learned their philosophy of keeping everything authentic and as Mother Nature intended. Neat old-building atmosphere, with good food, albeit a somewhat limited menu but they work well with what they have. Beer and ciders are good and they are always very pleasant. No table-service, but the wait in line isn't generally too bad. read more

This place has an awesome story, super friendly.. which is often overlooked by bars and restaurants nowadays- they just expect us to be grateful they are there and open- a really good Hef and I had grilled olives- I have eaten and drank soooo many places and have yet to see that- it was delicious and unique! You have to go to the bar for your drinks and food order which all of the guys behind the bar were so nice! Everyone ordered a drink and then I got a flight that we could all share from! Beers were solid, sparkling ciders were yummy and not overly sparkling like I was expecting, lastly mead was definitely oak heavy and not what I was expecting from a true mead! This is a superb little gem hidden in GL. The owner/brewer is very witty. We enjoyed hanging out on our anniversary for a flight. After sampling all their beers, we ordered the giant soft pretzel and cheese. It was all delicious. We will have to find more reasons to venture across town! read more

Cider was more like a homemade wine. Mexican spiced chocolate stout was sour. Not the best. Nice to have a lobster roll in mid Michigan though. That was worth the trip. read more

Talk about a must visit place in Grand Ledge! We were in town and stopped by. SO happy we did. Brews were amazing- especially their stout. Food- delicious. We had the Chicken Brie and Roast Beef sandwiches. Service was fast and sandwiches were very tasty. Owners were there and besides being incredibly friendly, helped us pick our drinks based on what we liked. As an added bonus they gave us a brief and interesting history of the building. This place is not your normal chain restaurant. If you're looking for an Applebee's kinda place where you can get a tough steak and a margarita that just doesn't taste right, this is not the place for you. Brick haven is an unconventional, but incredible, brewery. The atmosphere of the old converted church turned brewery makes Brickhaven one of the most unique buildings I've dined in. The drinks and food are also really well done. Both the ciders and beer tasted great, and there were plenty of options for all palates. And the gluten free options were excellent. But what makes this place stand out from the rest is the staff. At Brickhaven you don't feel like a face in the crowd, the staff welcomes you with open arms. Minutes after sitting down, you're greeted by staff that make you feel like meeting up with long lost friends. Overall, Brickhaven is an eclectic, unique, remarkable dining experience. Cold beer and delicious lobster rolls. Live music and a friendly noisy crowd. Sometimes this is exactly what you need. Tip: order food and drinks at the bar and grab a table with your number and your drinks while you wait for your order. It felt like I was sitting in a gymnasium, the lights are to bright for the space. Half of the lights could be turned off and it still would be pretty bright. On top of the lights the empty room needs some type of decorations or ways to tone the volume down. Service was great. maybe add some other types of drinks for those us not in beer like our friends.
