This is one of the best places to eat/drink in Mason! The beers and ciders here are very well crafted and served at a very reasonable price compared to many other breweries. The food is also next level too, absolutely love their wings and tots! As far as ambiance goes, this place has a rustic/modern looking interior with a vibrant and inviting exterior seating area that even has heated seating during the winter! If you're curious about the vibes at this brewery, I'd say it really depends on when you go. I've never seen it wild and energetic but I'm certain it can be on the weekends at night. If you're looking for a more tame experience, I'd go earlier in the day, probably before 6. Regardless of the time of day, day of week or how busy they are though, the staff is always on point while being super friendly and helpful! If you live in the area and you haven't been to Bad, you gotta check it out! If you're not from around here, I promise it's worth the drive!!! read more

Bad Brewing is a great place to meet with friends, family or colleagues for a good drink, good food and good atmosphere! There is indoor and outdoor seating available and a lot of people actually prefer the outdoor most days it seems. In the winter, they even have little dome igloo tent things that are nice and warm. This place is pretty legit. Inside is what I prefer because I like the vibes in there, old style yet modern at the same time and a bit rustic. As far as service goes, this might be the best place for it in Mason that I've been to at least, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! As far as food and drinks go, very little to be disappointed by, just depends on your own tastebuds! This place has you covered for whatever you may like! Overall, this is a must see brewery in all of Ingham County and maybe even all of Michigan?!?! read more

Absolutely need to check this place out. Visiting friends in E. Lansing and they said..."Gotta go to Bad Brewing". Well worth it. Even though a bit crowded (there was a 5K race going on right in town), we were still able to grab some chairs outside. Very cool vibe in an alley/small road. Mural on the side of the building next to it was neat. Now on to the beer...EXCELLENT. Absolute wide variety of all type. I had the brown ale and it was very good and very smooth. Wife had the IPA...normally she'll have a small taste before ordering but with it being crowded she opted for the recommendation of our servers. (yeah we had 2 as they kept ensuring we were taken care of). The IPA was also quite good. Everyone else in our group was "EXTREMELY" happy with their beer selections. Oh yeah, food was good as well. But the server that particular night was a vile skinhead who called me a druggie and told me to stop bothering him with stupid questions he could not answer. I finally had to request a manager who calmed us down (my whole family was with me from out of town) by buying us a round of drinks..... We'll probably never go back. I am 73. My spouse is 75. My wife and I finally made it to Bad Brewing. The beer we had was very good. The service was horrendous. The female who waited on us (let's call her Red) was incredibly rude and unwelcoming. After our initial interaction with her, my wife and I looked at each other in disbelief and quickly decided not to order anything off the food menu or try any of the other fantastic sounding beers Bad has to offer. We finished our drinks, paid and exited with a "bad" taste in our mouths. I can assure you it wasn't from the beer. Would I go back? Probably. Bad has a good product and shouldn't be punished for a bad experience the only time I've been there. I would simply be sure not to sit in Red's section. read more

He had an unexpected day off so we decided to check out a few places. With COVID many things have limited hours. Finding places that are open early can be challenging. We were happy to find this spot. Parking was easy and free. The inside is very charming. When we got there they had just opened so it was quite empty. We were fortunate to get a spot at the bar as they are practicing social distancing so there were only two seats available at the bar. They have a barcode you scan and fill out information for contact tracing. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. He told us that the building was very old and had been a variety of things, including a brothel! Haha. The brewery used to be much smaller but they knocked some of the wall down from next door (used to be a dentist office). So now there are two bars. They don't serve food but there is a food truck. We wanted something simple to share but they didn't really offer what we were looking for so we chose to hold off on ordering food. You scan the bar code and order from your phone and they bring the food to you. It was on the chilly side in there but I'm literally always cold so that means very little. They had a lot of cool stuff for sale but we settled on a tagabrew and moved on to our next spot. They do not participate in the hop pass (yet) so keep that in mind if you like to use your pass! read more

Went there for dinner tonight and I can't say enough good things! For starters their beer list had so many amazing options. I ended up getting an adult frozen slushee and it was delish! The food was also amazing, highly recommend chipotle turkey club or the bad burger! The decor really stole the show though. We sat on the patio and the walls were painted beautifully, had fresh flowers, and many seating options. I also loved how inclusive the bathrooms were as they provided free feminine hygiene products in them which is amazing! Service was decent, our server was super nice but wasn't super attentive, but overall really love this place and will definitely come back again. read more

Great atmosphere and pretty good food. Loved the outdoor scene -- we visited in the summer and really enjoyed the vibes. The wall mural set the scene perfectly. There was an adult slushee which hit the spot perfectly for an 80+ degree day. With $6 drinks (1 drink ticket per drink - available for purchase in front of the venue) and full tables, we enjoyed standing at some of the available table tops/kegs. Its a nice looking older building restaurant with some charm. Seating is a bit odd which promotes strangers to try to share your table because they are really long and they don't have much for 3 people so you end up seating three at a table that holds 8. Not sure how they can fix that. The food was so so. Basic bar food. you can't say "Id like my burger well done" they all are pink cooked same way so no special orders. Not a huge deal but they forgot to put the ketchup mustard and mayo on burger then argued that it was there under the patty. So had to go through an interrogation process to prove they were not there. So had to flip the patty with my hand to show there was no mustard ketchup oninos hidden someplace in the bun. A bit strange but they eventually brought the ketchup and mustard in a plastic serve serve cup but forgot mayo onine etc. So build it youself type thing. It tasted fine once i built it for them. Beer - I liked the one I tried. Service - a bit slow price - a little high for the food and beer atmosphere - good interesting look Check out - Did not appreciate the pre selected 25 percent tip on check out. That is a way to trick you into pressing ok and then have 25 percent added on. Also they hover over you at the table staring at that 25 percent pre selected BOX making sure you don't notice and move it to say 20 percent or god forbid 15 percent. Tell tale that the owner does not want to pay the employees or raise food prices rather they want the public to foot that. Tips are for service, 25 percent pre selected is a bit over the top. Next time maybe its 50 percent tip. Its the last thing we all remembered when we left 25 percent tip pre selected. Would I go back? 50/50 maybe but the higher prices and so so service + 25 percent pre selected tip was not something to brag about to others. read more

Really love this place! Great beer selection and rotating food menu that is amazing! Food usually comes out super quick too. Staff is always excellent! Trivia night on Thursdays, as well, but you have to get there early to snag a seat close to the host to be able to hear (there's a half wall blocking the other seating section). BAD has done their best dealing with COVID-19 from the start. They have met or exceeded every guideline set out by the CDC, WHO, and local health departments. My wife and I have been here several times, but were really shocked yesterday when it cost us $81 for the two of us. All we had was a burger, a flight, and a beer (each). They are really raping people for the beer. My flight of 4 beers was $17.50! The beer and food was decent, but we won't be back, we can't afford it. Its a great americana back country stop. As for the beer,you aren't going to have life changing brews but youll have some great beer in good company and that is what it is ALL about. I really liked the coffee brown. They have a bunch of bottles to go. The food truck isnt affiliated but work closely with, so you have the option. The fries are great. Ketchup is like half ketchup half salsa but 100% delicious. In closing, come in for a small town usa brewery! read more

Every town in Michigan now seems to have its own microbrewer and Mason has struck gold with 'Bad'. It started out small but expanded quite rapidly. The building next door is going to be added soon. The brews are fantastic. I only tried a couple but both were great. The wall with members' mugs is a defining feature of the bar. There's a waiting list to get one, sadly. There's no food license but thanks to some loophole(?) / creative thinking the slack has been picked up by a food truck outside. They take orders inside the bar and serve you at your table. read more

The service seemed weird and a little clunky... maybe it was an "off day"... I'm not sure. We came here on a whim traveling through town when another brewery 10 minutes away had over an hour wait. A quick search on Google/Yelp and we decided on Bad Brewing. The beer is great. Wish we could have stayed to try more. There is a food truck in the back, and though the brewery serves no food, I noticed the food truck servers serving their food inside the bar. We didn't order from the food truck, but nearly everyone around us did and it looked amazing and those that ate were commenting on the good grub. One of my favorite things are the well stocked bathrooms. Need a hair tie, lint roller, or breath mint? They have you covered. It's the little details like that that go a long way. Staff and service were very kind. We will be back if we can get to that area again soon. read more

I've only been here once but I had a good impression. First off, they actually use a nitrogen mix on their stout, which gives it the creaminess I love about Guinness but it has more flavor than a Guinness. I was thoroughly impressed with this stout. I also tried their nutty brown, which was a special brew of the moment (month? season? I dunno), and it was very nutty but very very good. I ended up taking home a growler of the Amber and my wife and I really enjoyed the balanced flavor. It had a bit of a hoppy flavor while not being too sharp so it's a great beer for those who like that. Give 'em a shot and try a beer flight. They are a lot like a homebrewer on steroids, but you can see the work and passion they put into it. read more

A buddy and I went in around 8:30 this past Saturday and got a table. The place is compact. Not small. Compact. Great atmosphere. I ordered a flight consisting of their Brothel Brown, No Stout About It, Super D's IPA, and Cascade Amber. Here is the simple rundown: Brown: not bad Stout: pretty good IPA: not great Amber: loved it. Order a pint. Sorry, I don't get deep and flowy over beer. We came here on a locals recommendation and it was amazing! I had a cider that was great and refreshing. Then switched over to a flight which was great. I had their 3x IPA which was like an IPA wine it was amazing super full of flavor and not much bitter backlash. I also had their regular IPA which was a nice easy drinking IPA. My favorite was the nitro stout which went down like a nice milk shake. The people are super friendly here patrons and servers. They have some food but not much but you can bring your own. Literally just left this place the waitress with the blondeish ginger hair and the pigtails was the most horrendous server I've ever had in my life. We waited 15 minutes to begin with then when we went to ask her how to order she rudely told us to go back to our table immediately. Wouldn't answer any questions or help us at all. Bad Brewing Company is a quaint microbrewery located in the heart of downtown Mason. The ambiance is superb. The interior is historical yet modern. TVs are plentiful, and the people are extremely friendly. Whether it be a bartender or a patron, you are sure to find a friend at Bad Brewing. The beer is excellent, especially if you like IPAs. I have tried the King Nuggets Double IPA, Sunrise Citra Pale Ale, Kraken IPA, and Super D's IPA. All are excellent. I prefer the King Nuggets Double IPA for the extra bite, and the Sunrise Citra for the ease of drinkability. Head over to Bad Brewing with some friends, or make new ones! BAD is a great smaller brewery and easily the best in the Capital region. Daily pours include their selection and a nice rotation of seasonal and specialty offerings - check out their double IPA if it's on tap. My only gripe? Limited food service. You can order in, or check out the the Good Bites truck (pretty solid) that services the bar. Only drawback to the latter option? You'll have to pay two tabs. read more

Pretty good beer for a great price, good service. My girlfriend and I got 11 samples for just $18, pre-tip, which is a great deal. The beer club is an awesome deal, but we live too far away to become a member. Together, we had Brothel Brown (4 stars of 5), Belgian Tripel (4), Sticky IPL (3.5), Super D's IPA (3.5), Zeelander Rye Pale Ale (3), Kraken (3), Hop Resolution (4.5). My girlfriend had the Raspberry Wheat, Chocolate Covered Coffee Brown, the cider, and the saison, all of which she seemed to enjoy. What keeps this from being a 5-star brewery is that, for me, the Rye and Kraken did not have a good mouthfeel - it was on the watery/runny side. The Hop Resolution, however, was outstanding.
