If you haven't been here in the last year or so, it's time to come back. I'll be the first to admit when I make a mistake. And about a year ago, I made a mistake by giving Looking Glass a bad review. Shortly after, I came back and had a conversation with one of the managers; based on that conversation, I deleted that review. Today, I'm happy to give Looking Glass Brewing a 5 star review. Their customer service has improved significantly. In fact, the changes I've experienced since then have made it probably one of my favorite places to visit. They keep their beer rotating with new brews and I just had a delicious lunch... the onion gravy was on point and the sausages have a really good crunch. Went on a Saturday nite, 6ish. Place was somewhat busy outside and inside. Took about 15 minutes before waiter arrived. Beer selection is very good, but not the food. Wife ordered a flatbread pizza, but was given a gluten-free one. It clearly did not have the light dough color that many other tables had. It clearly did not taste good, but our waiter said it was not gluten-free, but another waiter said it was. But it clearly is getting a bad review. My smoke pork sandwich was meh, so soggy I could not pickup. Then a challenge to eat with a fork and try not to eat the soggy wrapping under the sandwich. read more

I stopped here late afternoon on a Saturday. This old church converted to a bar/restaurant had a good vibe. I sat at the bar drank a cream ale that was good and had the brisket wrap that was very good. It was served quickly after ordering. If you are passing through the little town of DeWitt give them a try. read more

Sadly this visit was a bit disappointing for myself, but thankfully my wife was very pleased. I opted to change it up and get the steak Sammy, and my wife went with the turkey Reuben. Hers looked fantastic, nice portions, and the Mac and cheese were creamy and cheesy. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the sandwich I got. The portion size was laughable for the 16.5 price tag for it, plus the two dollar up charge for the side. The sandwich itself was soggy, greasy and not very well put together. The roasted cauliflower was also quite rubbery. Of course we will be back, just sad I ventured outside of my go to sandwich or nachos to be burned. The drinks were fantastic, the service friendly, and the ambiance comfortable. Still one of my favorite breweries, and best believe I'll be getting my nachos next time! read more

Opened in 2018 on Bridge Street after the owners invested nearly a million dollars into the rehab, Looking Glass Brewing Company's alter-situated kitchen pumps out sandwiches, flatbreads, burgers, pasta, and smoked meats. The bar has become a beer connoisseur's brewery with both a red ale and an Irish stout serving as the monthly special. The staff are knowledgeable, highly professional- delivering food and beverages with an affable flourish. This is a great place to catch a game or tickle your foodie fancy. What's Bright I had some windows of time within a very busy week to stop into Looking Glass and taste some of their local brews. I was mightily impressed, but even more so by the caliber of conversations about beers from guests who clearly know about it more than I do. There was considerable giddiness about the Penny Whistle- Irish Red Ale, with a 4.9% AB, it is one of three St. Patrick's Day beers on tap for the month. It was mildly sweet, for an ale, and had enough depth for me without being overpowering. I'm admittedly on the lower end of beer enthusiasts, but I also tasted the Blue Raspberry Cider and the Ginger Peach Cider. Both were quite good, and while the Blue Raspberry is a fan favorite, the Ginger Peach was superior in taste, depth, and punch. What's Vibrant I had to pause my personal belief that combining imitation crab meat and real lobster meat as sacrilegious when tasting the Crab and Lobster BLT ($16). That said, once I bit into the sandwich, I enjoyed the crunch of the lettuce, the savory, smokiness of the bacon, and the creamy, sweet notes from the seafood salad. The lobster claw chucks were plump, and the brioche bun was a nice vehicle. I loved the side of House Made Truffle Fries ($8) which were a thin cut version of carnival fries dusted with a truffle seasoning that elevated the fries rather than dominated them. The Veggie Pasta ($16) was also a hit. Cavatappi is joined by roasted Brussels sprouts, portabella mushrooms, caramelized onion, and sun-dried tomatoes. Yet it is the combination of the roasted garlic sauce and fresh basil that makes this dish dance. The portion size is large as my much better half easily had enough for lunch the next day. The Korean Hot Chicken Sandwich ($15) was flavorful and large, but a few too many components made it a challenge to eat. Pickel brined chicken breast is coated in a spicy Korean BBQ sauce and then topped with pickles, pepperjack cheese, and a traditional coleslaw. I suggest the kitchen swop out the creamy slaw for a kimchi-based slaw that's more on theme but still brings the contrast crunch diners enjoy. Best Bite I'm a sucker for a Po' Boy, the French baguette sandwich popularized in Low Country cooking. I'm heading to New Orleans at the end of the month and can't wait to dig into some authentic shrimp or red snapper Po Boy's. To get my taste buds warmed up, Looking Glass offered a Fried Grouper Po' Boy ($16) and it hit several spots. Cornmeal crusted fish, fried just hard enough with pickles, coleslaw that didn't soak the baguette, and a slight kick from the remoulade. The beer I would give an A++ It was phenominal. I had the Coffee Cream Ale and the Harvest Ale. My gf had a flight with a black ipa, a stout, a sour,and a cream ale. All fire. We also shared an I69 detour. Amazing. The food wasnt great. Id go C- I got the brisket with Pit Beans and German Potato Salad. The brisket was ok. It had a weird glaze on it. The Potato Salad was interesting. It had cornbeef and and large chunks of potatoes, but it was way way too vinegary. I dont mind vinegar flavor, but this was overpowering. The beans were weird. Just not great flavor. Vinegar again. My gf ordered the pulled pork with mac and cheese and brussel sproits. Pork was good, but it wasnt plain. It was super seasoned and had also had a weird glaze. Mac and cheese was really good. Brussel sprouts were undercooked and a bland. We'll be back. Loved the old, repurposed church setting and relaxed atmosphere. We chose to sit inside but patio seating was available that looked pleasant on a beautiful summer evening also. Service was pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. Food was delicious. I had pulled pork (a touch too salty for my taste but I know I'm not the norm in that department) with house BBQ sauce that was very good. Coleslaw and roasted cauliflower sides were outstanding, fresh and tasted a cut above usual food service standard. My wife had a meatball sub (a daily special not on the regular menu) and truffle fires that were both really, really good. Overall, a great dining experience. read more

The setting is cool because it's an old church and the drink menu is very expansive. I was sad they were out of the carmel apple cider, I was really excited about trying that. But I had the sour beer with plum and cherry and it was delicious. I was not a fan of the brussel sprouts as my side, I've had way better many times and they were not very good, but if you go here, get the Jalepeno popper chicken sandwich. It's not too hot and literally might be one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth! I would come back just for that! read more

This was a really cool spot that we were eager to check out. This was a repurposed church. When you walk in, you feel like you're headed to an old school baby shower in the church basement. The bar area was huge and there were a lot of locals hanging out. There were TV's and sporting events. We got to talk to the locals and get their ideas on the best beers. Service was great! Beer was good also! Appreciated the sample! I was disappointed with what I ordered. I ate half and threw the rest away when I got home. It was the chicken club wrap, I think it was called. No fault of the chef, I think it was done correctly, but maybe it was the garlic aioli or the chicken that did not taste good to me. I asked for the sparrow discount, but that apparently had ended at some point, but was still on the vendor discount list at the hospital. Better luck next time! read more

As this place has matured, my enjoyment has, too. What is even better: the food. We love the chef and how experimental they are. I was a bit concerned when on the last visit, the menu seemed "smoker" heavy with pulled pork, brisket, etc. please don't go exclusively in this direction! I love some of the fresher options like your lobster roll or even the international (German) cuisine you sometimes share. What is can be challenging: Dewitt has many events and markets downtown. This can mean no parking and long wait times. My family tried to pick "off" times to visit in hope of faster service and food. Thanks! read more

I was in town for a retreat and lunch with the retreat center looked kind of depressing... so I thought I would try a local restaurant. There was a local carnival coming on, so I didn't know if I'd be able to get to the restaurant by walking or if it would be full. They were happily busy at noon, but not overwhelmingly so and I got a seat at the bar. I asked for a taste of the "Bugger Off," an English pub ale served on a nitro tap. It was absolutely delicious, with exactly the level of bitter you would expect in a good pub ale, but with a delightfully smooth palate due to the nitro tap. My sandwich arrived after only about 10 minutes, which was impressive given how busy they were. It was absolutely delicious, the chicken clearly done in the house with excellent flavor. And the fries were to die for. I'll come back here in a heartbeat. read more

Fun brewery in an old church. Outdoor seating with old cast iron furnaces for fire pits. Still maintains the beautiful stained glass window but that is all that connects it to the old church. Was hoping for a little more charm inside. Although they have gotten bad reviews about service in the past I feel changes have been made. We had good service throughout our stay there. We ate and really enjoyed the food. The brisket was very tasty. My son in law had the beef tips Caesar salad. It looks really good and he ate it all so..... Beers on tap met all our expectations. Stopped in for a quick appetizer after perusing the bike shop across the street and shared an order of pulled pork nachos with my significant other. I wasn't sure about the wonton chips at first, but they held the weight of the toppings pretty well and didn't get too soggy from the beer cheese and salsa either. So my buddy's asks me if I liked fish I'm like uhhh yeah so he brings me to this place. Just walking in I can tell this is gonna be some great eats. So we got seated and the waitress took our drink order and menus. Of course my buddy's like let me order for ya since we were just gonna snack out. I had high hopes and expectations for this brewery. There was a pretty good selection of beers on tap. I tried four of them during my visit. All of them were decent, nothing stood out however. Now let's get to the food. I ordered the brisket poutine. How could I go wrong, right? Overall the flavor was ok. The fries were similar to a bad homemade fry that you would make at home. The gravy and the cheese curds were typical, but where's the beef?!?!? There was barely any brisket in the poutine what so ever. Maybe about as much as you would get in a standard jar of gravy from the store. This was the worst poutine I've had so far. The macaroni and cheese held up though. Again nothing special just typical noodles in a cheese sauce. My wife got a brisket sandwich. This looked really good. The bun was good and it had a pretty good flavor overall but the brisket was very dry. I'm not sure more bbq sauce would have helped or not. The prices were on par with other local BBQ restaurants in the area. I wish I could say the same for the quality. This was my first visit to this establishment and most likely my last. I hope that this place is around for a long time and can improve on the quality of their product. I really wanted to like this place. read more
