I recently visited for dinner - I"m single and always request a two-top so I don't take away from the server turning-over tables. My most recent visit I had the pleasure of being served by Rachael. Not only was the food and drink just what I expected, but the service, friendly personality, beaming smile and her presence was great. She was running all night at 100mph, but took the time to make me feel like her only customer. Whomever hired her needs to find another dozen! Service like this is why I am, and will be a repeat customer. We were left standing in the gift shop area for so long as the 4 employees had a discussion about something after we checked in we almost left. Not sure if it is a ploy to have you buy something or what. Service after that was amazing from Maryanne. The food description on the menu looked amazing and it look nice coming out but the flavors were a miss. The chicken potstickers were like anything I could thaw from Sam's Club. One side was browned and the other two soggy and cool. The Italian sausage and burrata flatbread tasted of nothing but pesto. We are pesto fans but not to overpower all the other possible flavors. The grilled Asian Prime Skirt steak was tough and short on flavor. There were more cold vegetables and cabbage than rice. The ginger rice was cool and not ginger like at all. Second visit here. Reservation for 5:30. Anniversary dinner for our daughter and son in law. Standing in the lobby/gift shop/wine tasting room is a little annoying but can be fun people watching. Seated on time. The restaurant was full. We were seated at a elevated booth right next to the kitchen so we had a view of food being cooked and brought out. Chloe was our server and she was very polite and attentive. Too much food to review now but I can say the crab shrimp and lobster soup was very good. Lemon herb glazed salmon was outstanding. Country rigatoni is big enough for two. Banoffee pie dessert was huge and very good. Great service and a very upscale atmosphere made for a great night out. But beware that this place can bust you wallet if you are not used to dining like this in Lansing... or anywhere actually. I think they are a little too expensive for me to be a regular and I am not overly impressed with my meal choices so far. Will try something else and am sure I can find a winner. From the time we arrived to the time we left it was a great experience. Fast service, great tasting food and eve better it was not overly pricey for the fresh quality and the amount of food. Cooper's Hawk definitely has a prime location between multiple cities and townships. Its location is ideal for the shopping center it is a part of. There is plenty of parking and other things to enjoy in the immediate area. We opted for Cooper's Hawk to celebrate a milestone birthday. The venue easily accommodated our party of 10 and the service from our solo waitress was top notch! *Cheese* was exceptionally attentive, accurate, and knowledgeable. She truly made our celebratory evening laid back and enjoyable. We partook of wine tastings, cocktails, appetizers and dinner. Our appetizers were all AMAZING, full of flavor and beautifully plated. We enjoyed the suggested wine pairings and cocktails as well. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a disconnect of flavor when the entrees arrived. Although everything was esthetically appealing and cooked to perfection, the flavor was nowhere to be found. We were quite baffled. It's been a while since I have critiqued. And that is because of the negativity I have felt dining out in the past couple years. The high prices. The bad service. The countless times I have entered and felt the entire mood of the place and then suffered through it. I am not an old codger, dear reader. I am fairly optimistic, yet the most expensive issues for dining out are costly. For my time, my wallet and value. With that, I am pleased to offer "Cooperhawk Winery and Restaurant." It is beautiful. Inside and out. It is for the connoisseur and the starter. It is priced right and there is something for everyone. Ordinarily, I would dismiss this type of venue. But it was the occasion of our anniversary and my wife is a wine girl. So I did it. And when we walked in,,, it was stunning. The first thing you will see is the grand wine wall with a long bar in front of it. This is where you can choose wine tastings and flights. Get a little something before dinner. They asked me if I was a card holding member. I laughed and said oh no. By the end of the day, I was. And am glad for it. The staff treats you like you are welcomed guests. Kind. Intuitive... and helpful. They are educated and know their stuff. The wine tasting was outstanding with the Sommelier addressing every facet of the drinks we were trying. And it was delicious. We were called for dinner and sat in the main dining room. Beautiful. Warm. Clean. Immediately, our server showed and wished us a happy anniversary and brought us complimentary champagne. (When you reserve your seats, it asks about special occasions). A bonus. We had a warm soft pretzel loaf with butter as we waited. My wife ordered a filet mignon platter which she defined as excellent. I had a chicken dish with outstanding potatoes and fresh green beans. More wine please. We imbibed. While we were full from the main course they still brought out some truffles to seal the deal. We decided to join the club and got a membership. 2 bottles of exclusive wine a month for $50. A fair value as with it comes wine tastings, complimentary glasses of wine when visiting and several offers a month. We have been back several times, and each is better than the last. I encourage you to come a half hour early to enjoy the spirits and relax before your meal. 10 out of 10. read more

Wondering how long this lasts in Lansing... Super high-end for this market, but welcomed. Hopefully they continue to garner full-up reservations and thrive. Kinda pricey, but not for the quality of food and service. Ordered a filet cooked "Pittsburgh" and was over cooked. Maybe next time I'll ask for blue with a hard sear... The decor is very much Chicago upscale, felt strange for Lansing. I went in nice jeans and a black T and next time I'll dress a bit more formal. read more

I would like to give a higher score based on the quality of the food, but it is the service that brought my score down. This was our first visit here and we were celebrating my birthday. We at lunch before doing a wine tasting and noticed every table received complimentary bread, we did not. Our server was standing by the food counter watching a video on a phone while our food sat in the window (which is visible to customers). The food was delicious though, I ordered a cheeseburger and it is one of the best burgers I've had. Very juicy, good size, and the bun was toasted to perfection. My daughter had the scrimp scampi and enjoyed it. We then went into the wine tasting area and we were ignored by the first employee (not sure of her name, she was a red head). Then a young man came out of the back and greeted us, he was friendly and did a fine job. As we went through our tasting we noticed several people come in to pick up wine and found out they were in a wine club. This was never explained to us or offered. Which is quite disappointing. Hopefully this is just an off day and we will get better service if we go back. read more

First time visiting after multiple positive reviews from family. All wine is grown & processed by the parent company. Was impressed by their willingness to sample wines before ordering a glass. Made it easy to pair your meal with their proposed selection. The Gluten free menu is also impressive as well as a warm serving of GF bread. The Crispy Artichoke appetizer was one of the best versions I've had. For the entree I had the Daily Special of Shanghai braised Short Rib with Wasabi mashed potatoes. It only came with 2 slices of short rib which was enough for me after an appetizer but someone with an appetite may not be filled. My wife ordered the GF Dana Parmesan Crusted Chicken & garlic mashed potatoes & green beans. It was authentic chicken not gritty or tough that most places call chicken. Our server, Chloe was wonderful & knowledgeable about the wines and the extensive menu. It was a Tuesday night and thankfully we had reservations because it was a busy at 6:30pm. Finished the evening off with the S'Mores Bandino. Look forward to a return visit. read more

Enjoyed an evening variety wine tasting with my sister who is a member. Our pourer was very nice, knowledgeable and attentive. She shared about the wines, recommended swaps we would like and was timely in refills. We all agreed the Nightjar dessert wine was amazing! I swapped out the moscato for the house Chardonnay which I was not a fan of either. I enjoyed everything else! I also really appreciated the paper that described each of the wines, their pairings and the spectrum of characteristics. Looking forward to returning again. read more

I was excited to check out the place in Lansing. I have to say the chicken piccata I ordered is the best that I have ever had. I might just make the 45 minute drive to come back for it. The Parmesan Crusted Mahi Mahi was outstanding! It hit my stomach just right! The texture and smoothness of Mary's potatoes complimented the Mahi Mahi with each savory bite. For a burst of flavor I'd munch on the crispy capers that beautifully decorated the plate. The roasted broccolini was delicious just as I expected. Beautiful presentation and well done Chef! My son and I went to dinner at Coopers Hawk on a whim and I'm so glad we did. Although I ate light, I had a Caesar salad with blackened salmon and he had a burger, both meals were delicious, well portioned and fresh. The restaurant is beautiful and clean and there is a lovely wine tasting room in the waiting area to browse while waiting to be seated. Coopers Hawk is a nice date spot with cozy booths for two lining the restaurant, moody lighting and smooth jazz tracks on the speakers. We will be back. read more

Outstanding in every way. First is the decor which is elegant without being precious. Then service: our waiter Logan could not have been more efficient, clear, helpful, easy to work with. The food is of course central and we were blown way by the short ribs hash and the breakfast gnocchi. Each dish was sublime on the palate and gorgeous to look at. I made reservations for my husband's birthday, specifically noting we were there for a special occasion. We ordered drinks and a wedge salad to split. The salad arrived in a big bowl before our drinks. We were not given side plates for our salad so we used the bread plates- which is another thing- why didn't we get bread? Not even an offer. Every other table go bread. He ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, I ordered a bowl of the bisque. The spaghetti was actually linguine, with a nice sauce and tender meatballs, a good size portion. The bisque was extremely thick,very salty and a bit too fishy tasting- the shrimp, crab and lobster were overpowered by the fishy taste. I only ate a few bites and had it wrapped up. Unfortunately timing is way off so we got our salad then drinks, then the mains were put down when we were still eating our salad with no bread. Our drinks sat empty while we ate, we finally got refills with dessert. Flo, our server, was nice enough, but lacked attention to detail. For $150 a couple I expected much more, especially on a special occasion. read more

I recently had the opportunity to visit Cooper's Hawk in East Lansing for my sister's 21st birthday. We started with a wine tasting, which was a great experience and a nice way to kick off the celebration. Once seated, our server was friendly and attentive when it came to our wine and drink orders, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience with the food was less impressive. I ordered a house salad that didn't arrive until after my main entrée was served and nearly finished. Since salads are typically served before the meal, this was disappointing. For my entrée, I chose the Lemon Glaze Salmon. It was decent, but I've had the Soy Ginger Salmon before and found it to be much more flavorful. Between the delayed salad and the average entrée, the meal itself fell short of expectations. Overall, the staff was pleasant and welcoming, but the service execution could have been better. I've noticed Cooper's Hawk seems to be slipping compared to previous visits, which is unfortunate because the food used to be outstanding. If you decide to dine here, I would suggest keeping your expectations around an average dining experience rather than something exceptional. read more

I had the privilege of coming during their soft opening and, wow, what a wonderful experience. I've since been back a few times and each time this place has continually delivered. The ambiance is something that had been lacking in Lansing and the waitstaff is welcoming. Cooper's Hawk is beautifully furnished, and nicely lit (but not overpowering). The main dining area has a great action display window, tall ceilings and neutral toned furnishing that are comfortable. The two-seater booths are my favorite. The sundries shop at the front of the restaurant is a great addition with many wines, glassware, and even chocolates to choose from. I no longer drink alcohol and the staff respects respect that despite their main feature being the wine club. Any time I've mentioned I'm alcohol-free, they've been happy to showcase other beverages including some excellent mocktails. Meals here have been almost all perfect. Exceptions were a slightly overcooked pork chop during soft opening day, literally the first day in operation), and a delicious flatbread that arrived lukewarm. A brunch French toast was simply too sweet for any in our party but that's personal taste. If you love sweet, you'll love this. If not, stick with the breakfast gnocchi. The chicken piccata is delicious and the dinner portion is massive. The filet has a crisp crust with zip sauce and the Parmesan-crusted chicken was also excellent. Perhaps my favorite thing though is the homemade key lime pie. Worth every penny. Love this place for a nice night out and so happy they're in town. read more

This restaurant is awesome. The space is welcoming and beautiful. The service is outstanding. We have never had a server who wasn't knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. And then there is the food. Wow!! We have also never had a meal there we didn't thoroughly enjoy. Trying the calamari is a must! Some of our favorites are the medallions, salmon, and grouper, and friends have said their chicken dishes and pork chops are really good. Of course, wine tasting here is a treat. Two individuals had the burger, two had the gluten free version of Chicken Piccata, one had the steak salad, one had rigatoni, and another had the Filet Mignon. Definitely a busy spot on the weekends, the staff will be helpful in menu item decisions. The staff knows their menu, they also offer dietary restriction menus such as gluten-free, etc. Definitely one of the best quality sit-down establishments in the area. The food and cocktails are amazing. I don't drink wine enough to talk about it but they have a WIDE variety to choose from and a matching wine for each dish they offer. Its clean, upscale and priced reasonably for the quality you're getting. I'd expect to pay at least $100 for two entrees and an appetizer. Great spot for date nights or celebrations. read more

Absolutely delicious--hands down the best food in Lansing! We came for dinner last night and couldn't resist coming back for lunch today. The chicken dumplings are incredible, the lemon herb salmon was light and perfectly prepared, and the tortilla soup hit every note. Service was five-star both visits, with a lively, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are upbeat, attentive, and genuinely kind. Sadly pretty disappointed in this spot. We went for a celebratory meal with myself, my mom, and our friend as well as my daughter. My mom& friend both felt the hostess was rude, I didn't see their interaction. But I do know when they called our reservation, I went to grab my mom who was waiting outside and they felt we took too long so began seating another party so we stood at the host stand several minutes waiting for them to come back. My main issue was quality control on the food. I ordered a filet mignon, med rare. It was supposed to be served with broccolini. What came out was way past med rare and the broccolini was just a head of broccoli cut in half ?? Photos attached. For an almost $50 this meal left a lot to be desired. They offered to remake it which took over 20 minutes and did not offer to comp dessert or drinks. When we asked for our leftovers to be packaged since we had already been there almost 2 hours and were still waiting on the remake, they left out my friends sashimi so she didn't get to eat much of it. Finally the dining area was so loud I couldn't hear my mom speak from across our small table. Overall sad because I was hoping this would be a really nice meal given the price point in this area but it wasn't for me. Positives: our waitress was very sweet and doing her best given how crowded it was on a Wednesday. The wine seems pretty good, I think I'd rather come here for a tasting than a dinner. read more
