Honestly, being from North Carolina I have a pretty high standard for barbecue and without a doubt this is some of the best barbecue I've had in years. We tried a multitude of things on the menu: pulled pork nachos, freshly fried pork rinds, pork skins, multi meat platters with hot links, burnt ends and pulled pork and all of it was served with a smile. We spent the night in Liberal Kansas on our way to Lubbock, Texas. We had dinner at the Brickhouse barbecue. It was the best service and the best baked potato that I think I have had in a long time as soon as we walked in Emily a.k.a. EM greeted us in a spunky, friendly manner we loved that she was so friendly so attentive then I met Jenny on the way to the bathroom and asked her about their big baked potato and she suggested I have the mac & cheese on a baked potato, which is absolutely divine then Denise came in and told us some funny jokes that she played on her son and we thought that was absolutely hilarious and then when we were leaving, I met Jesus who is going to cheer for Pratt and I wish him all the luck on the ban shell because you've got to do it kid everybody was so friendly. Wow! This place is not only had to get the upper views, but was the most suggested place by all the locals we spoke to. This was for good reason. Amazing restaurant in Liberal Kansas it was so good. We came here two nights in a row. The first night I tried the steak. It was OK but nothing special. The next night I decided to do barbecue. I did burn ends and the hot link. Both of these were phenomenal! The appetizer recommend is the fresh pork rinds. They were super good came out crackling and popping everyone that was with me was super impressed with these also. All the sides are really good. The place was busy, but they got a Singh quickly. Service was great. I will definitely be back here the next time I'm in a liberal! read more

While on the road, we had dinner here. The place was clean. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a hot mac daddy with pulled pork sandwich, and a two-meat dinner. Everything was tasty. First class experience here-he came for the beer (Shiner Holiday Cheer), me for the Peach Tea! Had an awesome wait staff, Amy G who brought us a sample of the beer we were considering. We weren't really hungry when we walked in but the aroma of the bbq made us rethink having food! I had a dedicated meal of Burnt Ends only-and yes, that was perfect for me! Stopped in again chasing storms, because I had some great experiences before while passing through the area. This visit was the best so far. The bartender is super friendly. I wish I had gotten her name but she might have been a manager or something. She is on top of her game when it comes to managing all the drinks for the place. Major kudos to the bartender. I was a bit startled at the person working the host/hostess stand, as I thought he might have been a guest but he's just a really young guy working the front door. Good for him. Beer choices are good. I opted for old reliable Guinness. The barbecue is really, really good. Burnt end brisket was perfect, as were the BBQ baked beans. Next time I'm there I'm going to try their mashed potatoes and gravy; it looked great. It was very busy but not overly loud. The bar area is slightly crowded but not overwhelmingly so; I seem to end up at the bar stool right next to the pole every time I'm in town but it's completely workable. Highly recommended; this is one of my favorite places out in storm country. read more

The Ambiance And Service Was Great As The Server Was Kind And The Establishment Was Clean. My Drink Was Also Pretty Good! The Prices Were Great As Well But Unfortunately The Barbecue Wasn't Great At All. I Ordered Burnt Ends And Brisket And They Both Were Exceedingly Dry And Bland. I Paid A $4 Upcharge For It As Well And Was Disappointed At What I Received. The Mac And Cheese Was Pretty Watery And Tasted Plain. The Beans Were Okay But Could Have Used More Salt. I Tried The Barbecue Sauce Because The Meat Was So Dry And It Didnt Help. Shot out to out waitress today!! I say this because finding a restaurant to eat at with Celiac Disease is difficult. We relay on the wait staff to help us because we can't see all that goes on in the kitchen.. I was careful on what I chose today, but it comes with bread and I told her I can't have that. She knew and I'm thankful she has had customers with the same thing I have. Be mindful in the kitchen because we can end up in the ER, and become so sick from items with wheat in it... We were passing through Liberal and happen to find this BBQ restaurant. There was a short wait, but since they call your phone when your table is ready, we took a walk through downtown while waiting. The BBQ chicken was top notch and being from the Kansas City area, we are particular about our BBQ. Our server, LLuvia, was very nice, made sure we had everything we needed. She checked back with us throughout our meal and the owner stopped by to ensure we were satisfied. I was very impressed with all the staff. Everyone was on the move to provide great service. We are traveling through and landed here for dinner. The place was busy but there was plenty of help...plus they loudly gathered twice to celebrate birthdays. What was special was our waitress. We ordered the upgraded, supreme sandwich vs the regular. When she checked back, I was curious because there didn't seem to be anything other than a wilted lettuce leaf and a dab of sauce on it...apparently there was a little melted cheese in the tasty, shredded chicken...but why was it a few dollars more? She adjusted our bill ( not at our request) because she plans to bring it to managements attention that the regular and upgraded sandwiches are basically the same and should be priced in just one group. The Brickhouse BBQ and brew was recently opened in 2020. Offering some awesome barbecue options and a full bar for your drinking pleasure. Free street and municipal parking conveniently located to this establishment. While no happy hour their pricing is so reasonable that I will call it happy hour pricing all day long! There are a wide range of appetizers, wings, salads, specialty sandwiches, ribs, and barbecue dinners. Not to mention a nice dessert menu, although no light fare here, after all I was reminded who comes to a barbecue restaurant just for the salads?! For server was pleasant and exceptionally patient as we asked many questions about their beer menu. We would recommend that the manager consider adding some local beer to their repertoire of bar options to pair with the barbecue and promote local craft brewers I was about to ask for a knife and realized that I didn't need it to cut my brisket, which was some of the best I've ever had. Their baked beans include bits of chunky meat that really add some great flavor. I also had their baked potato salad, which is a potato salad that includes sour cream and mayo - Yum. Hours on Yelp say that they're open until 10PM, these were updated 3 months ago. Sign on the window says they close at 9 and doors were locked at 9:10 when I arrived. I pulled on the door and multiplie employees saw me standing there. None made an effort to connect and explain. End of the day, the spirit of good BBQ is community and connection. As I bask in the glow of gluttony fulfilled, I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Brick house Barbeque! After overnighting in the Oklahoma panhandle on our way to Northeastern Kansas, we were looking for a hearty Sunday lunch that would tide us over until we got Mom's... We speculated we'd find plenty of taquerias and burger options as is standard for the region, but wanted to see all possible options before settling for the expected. Once again, Yelp came to the rescue! Among the anticipated list of Mexican restaurants and burger joints, Brickhouse BBQ caught our eye with promises of mac'n'cheese-smothered pulled pork, brisket-topped baked potatoes, fried okra, fried pickles, fried cheese and for dessert, fried pie... Parking is ample with street parking out front and a large free lot across the street. The friendly hosts greeted us and we were seated right away. The dining room was occupied by a mixture of patrons enjoying generous portions. After much consideration and strategizing, we settled on the Hillbilly Sandwich (pulled pork, mac'n'cheese and sauce on a bun) and a "bowl" that consisted of baked beans, corn bread and burnt ends. Gary T picked sides of fried okra and cole slaw as our accompaniments. That sandwich was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! That pork was so tender, and smoked and seasoned perfectly. The bowl of cornbread and beans was hearty and delicious as well! I didn't try the sides but Gary sang their praises, and even compared the okra to how his mom used to make it, so I'll take that as a positive! I'd love to tell you about how delicious the indulgent sounding desserts were, but as much as I wanted to, there was no space in our stomachs to even entertain the thought of banana pudding, fresh doughnuts, cobbler or fried pie. All in all, this is a great stop and we'll definitely pop in the next time our travels take us through Liberal! read more
