Make sure to check the OU sports schedule before reserving your spot. OU football, basketball, softball and baseball games will slow your trip to a crawl because of traffic. It's also a bed and breakfast so you can always plan a staycation and avoid the traffic altogether. We've eaten there twice in the last 30 days and I'll include pictures and dishes from both trips. I chose it for the destination of my birthday and none of the 8 guests complained about the drive but all raved about the food. Instead of discussing each and every dish in detail like I normally do (this review would take many pages) I can say without reservation that you simply cannot go wrong with any choice. The soups are silky smooth and packed with flavor. I had the mushroom soup as a special on a previous trip and the taste was from the ground fresh. It must have been made with fresh mushrooms and herbs. The soup on this particular night was a creamy tomato bisque that was velvety smooth and amazing. I've had the House Salad and Caesar Salad. Both are fantastic. The former is a wonderful combination of greens with a light champagne vinaigrette that pairs perfectly. A "simple" Caesar salad is difficult to make but they've got it right. On this occasion I had the filet mignon; juicy, tender and the perfect temperature. I've also had the chicken and pork dishes which were wonderful. My husband has had the salmon and lamb, so I've tasted them and found them to be very good. The rack of lamb has a reduction sauce that would make drywall palatable. On this night I had the chocolate tort while a few others chose the crème brûlée and bread pudding. Pictures are unable to convey the the chef's mastery. I can't find the receipt and can't remember our server's name, shame on me. She handled our table of nine as easily as if it were a table of two. Her skill made a difficult job look easy. Don't worry about the distance. Highway 9 is a well-paved, four-lane highway. The restaurant is only about four miles east of I-35 and is an easy drive. My only suggestion is to check the OU sports schedule. I can also recommend spending the night and enjoying a room.

We made the mistake of booking a room at the Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast for our son's…read moregraduation, and it almost ruined our weekend. Luckily the Marriot in Norman saved us because we were too grossed out by our filthy room at Whispering Pines to stay a second night. We stayed in the "Vineyard Suite" (sounds classy, right? It is not, it is disgusting). We arrived late in the evening the first night, so it was too late for any other options, and I did not realize how unclean and unhygienic the room was until the next morning. There were dirty fingerprints smeared all over the doors and refrigerator doors, food encrusted on the kitchen cabinets, crumbs and food caked on the stovetop, and what looked like years worth of filth on the baseboards. The staircase looked like a football team had tromped up and down carrying armloads of loose sawdust. The only dining table was covered in a thick layer of oil (and a dead fly). (I did not eat the breakfast because I was too grossed out by the room to eat this place's food.) There was a weird brown sludgy spot of something--blood? poop?--encrusted on one of the bathroom cabinets. There was hair (not mine!) on the sofa, which clearly had not been vacuumed in a while. We also had a variety of dead bugs scattered around--my husband removed the dead cricket from the closet before I got a picture. There was a strange situation in the dining area--a large beer label mirror was propped dangerously against the wall along the side of the dining table just waiting for someone to trip onto it. So, I texted Traci in the morning, and she did . . . absolutely nothing. She did not respond to my texts and hung up on my calls. I finally got her to respond to an email in which she pledged to give us a refund, without even apologizing for the state of the room! And then she didn't even give us the refund! During follow-up communication, she promised my husband more than once that the refund would be forthcoming, but somehow it never materialized. So we had to request a reversal of the charges on our credit card, which the credit card agent informed us would be filed under the "unhygienic/unclean" category--the agent was completely grossed out (he was actually saying, "Ewwwwwwwww" on the phone), and the credit card company granted us the charge reversal. Because Traci did not keep her pledge to refund us, here I am to gross you out, tell you not to stay here, and to post the absolutely disgusting pictures. Maybe it's the chicken that makes it so good; the salads come with a very generous portion of chicken. But it's also the ranch that really brings the salad together. My son also really likes the chicken sandwich. The service can be hit or miss, but on our recent visit, our waitress was very personable and attentive. This restaurant is a good place for groups because they usually have tables pushed together to accommodate larger parties.

No sour cream on it or chives. The only thing that had flavor was the garlic bread. My sons chicken stripes were black from the oil in the fryer needing changed. The waitress was nice but the service was not great. The food was not good. Would not recommend.

Overall, we had a beautiful wedding and mostly everyone was impressed! Pros: Value to price for the inclusive package is nearly unbeatable, even if you diy. Scenery is beautiful and there is plenty of space for the reception. Freedom to choose catering and other options without the ridiculous guidelines of other venues. Very relaxed and calm atmosphere, a true rustic and bare bones type of place. Neutral: The location is a bit out there. This affected cell service and catering options for us, so keep that in mind. This venue really feels about 90% complete. Our wedding was at the end of 2019 and we thought the place would have been a bit more polished by then. It really skirts being rustic for rustic's sake and instead kinda felt more like they just skimped out in a few places. Cons: The bathrooms are largely unfinished and were pretty dirty to go along with poor lighting. There were no hooks in the grooms suite so the suits had to be draped over chairs. The path leading out to the ceremony area has larger sized loose gravel and uneven loose concrete stepping stones. This was a problem with those in heels and with older guests which really needs to be addressed. The following review is of our experience with the prior owners. We want to share it in matters of transparency, but in fairness to the new owners, this is not affecting the star rating either way. We received an introductory price as we were among the first to book here. The price has now changed, but was amazing for all that we got. From start to finish 11 months later, we only dealt with 1 person. They wore every hat including photographer, organizer, planner, etc. Because of this, things were a bit unorganized from time to time. All the way up to a few days before our date they were still trying to source a few things that was part of our package. Fortunately, they did come through and we had all that was promised. For the day of our wedding, everything went mostly smoothly. The owner and her friend decided to wear random tshirts, yoga pants, and pony tails. We found this pretty tacky, and unfortunately they are now forever immortalized in our various wedding photos and videos looking this way. They also brought a young boy about 10-11. He mostly ran around and ate desserts and talked to guests, but we wish they had asked if it was okay. We had a smaller wedding without many kids, so this is likely why it stuck out so much. While the planning was mostly alright and she did a decent job wrangling groups, we did have to go hunting for her a few times throughout the day. We were grateful that she worked as hard as she did, but we also felt like it would have been a HUGE improvement if she had simply hired some help or sought professional advice before trying her hand at it. We felt a lot of their growing pains, and it really didn't seem fair at times. I'm assuming that's probably part of why there are new owners however. If we had to do it all over again, we would. And we would certainly take a gamble with the new owners as well. We have talked to the new owners a few times and they have been very kind and helpful in tying up a few loose ends. It saddens me to write this review, because I thought Sarah was great prior to my wedding day, but…read moreunfortunately I feel like I need to share my negative experience. I purchased beer/wine/signature cocktail bartending services on my wedding day for 250 guests. This was to include mixers, napkins, cups, ice, and iced water to be served on/near the bar. Our total headcount was less than 250 adult guests. A little over 1 hour into serving guests, the bartenders had already run out of cups. Not only that, but by that time, they ran out of simple syrup for one of our signature drinks. Tipsy Caravan had suggested that we buy 5 handles of whiskey for the signature drink and by the time they were out of simple syrup, they had only used 1 handle. Instead of buying more cups while we were eating dinner, the bartenders asked to borrow some cups from the caterers, which was not enough to supply the rest of the evening. Bartenders were informing guests they would only be able to get wine or cocktails if they reused their cups, which is embarrassing and unacceptable. A guest left the to go buy water bottles because there were no cups for people to drink water from at the bar. Beyond this, I heard from guests that bartenders were not knowledgable about which wine was which and seemed to "have no clue what they were doing." The Coles Garden venue coordinator told me that the bartenders "seemed to know nothing about the event" and that they had issues with the bartenders they had to address during the evening. I understand that mistakes happen, however, it does not seem that Tipsy Caravan did much of anything to correct their mistakes. There was never a line at the bar after cocktail hour because there were no cups, so they had plenty of time to correct this mistake. It is really upsetting to think you are hiring an experienced team and getting an underprepared set of bartenders who guests said had no idea what they were doing. Not only that, but after cocktail hour, the bartenders were basically just dispensing cans/bottles, as they were unable to serve mixed drinks or wine due to lack of cups, even though we paid for beer/wine/signature cocktail services for 4.5 hours. We spent so much money on alcohol that is now going unused. My guests still had fun, but told me I should have paid more for an experienced bartending team. I reached out to Tipsy Caravan to make things right, but they only refunded me $25 for cups and $25 for simple syrup. I am totally embarrassed and hiring Tipsy Caravan will be my worst memory of my wedding day.

Lori loves what she does and it shows. She has wonderful stories about the animals and invited us into the pens to pet them and just love on them. The inside is set up for children's birthday parties and a photo studio for pictures. She offers, free, the cutest sheep bracelets that she makes.
