two glasses of beer on a table

We were so excited to make it all the way to Brickside Brewery, the northern most brewery in Michigan! How cool is that? Brickside is a tiny brewery in the town of Copper Harbor the tip of the UP. It was the end of July and the little town was hopping! Brickside has a nice selection of beers on tap, but was not offering flights due to Covid. We sampled a few beers and decided on a red and IPA. They were both very good and hit the spot after a day of driving & sightseeing! We really enjoyed our experience. They do have a small area for outdoor seating, if that is your preference. The highlight of our visit was the owner's dog who kept us company! We can't wait to come back.

Small brewery- well the only brewery that is in Copper Harbor. Good brew, friendly locals that you'll meet here. Very cool interior with other brewery stickers from ceiling to wall. Copper bar with taps straight from the wall.

In 2016 I picked up the Michigan Brewer's Guild magazine from a Detroit area brewery and found the map of every brewery in Michigan inside. I decided to make it a goal to visit all of them, but I especially wanted to go to Brickside seeing it all the way at the top of the state. This year, I decided to plan a brewery trip to get to Brickside, and I made it! The inside is pretty small, yet they have enough beers that it was hard for me to decide on which to choose for a flight (four beers included in the flight). I enjoyed all of the ones I chose, but I liked the pale ale the most (I forget the name of it). My friend liked her beers as well and found one of the IPAs to be the best. We stayed for a pint after our flights, and enjoyed sitting with other visitors and chatting while enjoying our beers. The place was packed with people, but there was room for almost everyone to sit with room to spare. It was the Fourth of July, so I'm assuming that's why the city was busy, but it was fun! It was worth the brewery trip and the drive up to the area. I wish we could have stayed for longer!

Best craft beer tasting room ever. From the music to the bartender/owner. Make sure to ask him if he has any craft wines if you're in town!

List of what's on tap when I was there. Nice little place!

Walked in, walked out. The beer smell was overwhelming and was dungeon like inside. Building should probably be condeemed.

Great little brewery up in Copper Harbor. Still doing their best during Covid and serving up good beers.

All of their beers are tasty, but the Park Bench Porter and the Walters Weissen are neck-and-neck.

The hostess was lovely and found us a space even though we didn't have a reservation (I would recommend this). Our server Lilly was knowledgeable, attentive and very good. She managed a huge section and timed all of us perfectly so no one was waiting too long for their dishes or drinks. The food is OUTSTANDING!! How has this been under the radar in Copper Harbor? High dinning in the middle of no-where, its wonderful. The trout was super moist and flavorful with crisp skin. The mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly and full of earthy flavors. The beef stroganoff was rich and decadent. The four cheese ravioli was a lot on its own, but paired with the beef and sauce was a perfect match. We ordered a side of spätzle and sauce and it was another fun and delicious dish to try. Our starter was the special of fried burrata cheese over a homemade marinara. The marinara was my favorite part! Acidic, smooth, herby and fill of fresh garden tomato flavor. German beer on tap and a great wine selection. The location (restaurant, event space and cabins) are for sale. I hope potential new owners will keep the food as unique and high quality as it is now.

We called to make a reservation when they opened at 2:00 and were informed that they were filled for the evening though there would still be drop in seating if we arrived before 4-5:00. Sure enough, by the time we departed @ 4:45, the place was hopping. Call ahead for reservations if you would like a table in the evening or be prepared to wait. The draw here is the view of the water; simply gorgeous. The food is also wonderful, with a good choice of seafood and meat entrees, appetizers and desserts. We began our meal with the tempura white fish with Asian slaw appetizer. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice balance of flavors with rubles and pickled ginger. A winner. We chose the scallop special ($48) and the pan cooked trout ($28). Both entrees came with fresh sautéed seasonal veggies, a choice of one side starch (mashed potatoes, au gratin potatoes, rice pilaf, risotto) and a choice of salads (Caesar, garden, beet-feta or watermelon) . We also enjoyed a warm roll with olive oil and herbs to dip. Our meals were beautifully presented, piping hot and well cooked. The seafood was tender with flavorful but not overpowering seasoning and sauces. The veggies were crisp and the potatoes were delicious. We shared a flourless chocolate torte and it was amazing: smooth, rich and not too sweet. With tip our tab came to $130 for two with no drinks. Expect to pay good money for a nice dinner, well prepared, a beautiful view and first class service.
