Walked in late at 815pm on a Thursday night, with no wait for supper. The food and service were spot on. I followed the recommendations of the waitress for the dinner special, and tried the Dill Pickle Soup. OHHHH MY! I was scraping the bowl at the end. It was that good! Main course was the Smothered Chicken Bowl. It is one of those dishes that hopes you forget your calories and carbohydrates for 24 hours! Very tasty, if a bit too salty. Always ask which desserts are house made? I had the triple layer strawberry cake and barely finished it all. The service was great, not rushed, but simply very welcoming and friendly. read more

Really cool place inside. Service is super friendly and quick. Reservations are for sure recommended and luckily someone suggested that to us ahead of time so we were prepared too. Really good menu options and they have specials on Fridays (not sure if it's a weekly think or only Friday) and we both got the Bang Bang shrimp bowl and our two other friends got a full slab of ribs with Carolina Gold sauce. It's a mustard based BBQ sauce and it is finger licking good! I really liked all the fresh ingredients in everything they made. Good drink selection, full liquor setup and bartender was knowledgeable and really nice. It was just a great vibe in there. Very clean and friendly place. I had their special, which was a Spicy Chicken Sandwich along with their homemade chips. I'm telling you, this sandwich was the perfect amount of spice along with a surprisingly slight smoky flavor from the bacon. I also had their Dill Pickle Soup. Never having it before , I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was fantastic. It's sort of like a potato soup, but pickley. I would definitely order this again. Glacia continues to be a "must-do" when we are in the Keweenaw Peninsula. We have never been disappointed with our food or service. I wish we had a Glacia in lower Michigan; we'd be regulars for sure! Pro-tip: check their social media for specials, hours, and then call for a reservation. They are a hard-working small business and sometimes something pops up and they have to pivot; I appreciate that they take care of their family and staff and sometimes when life just happens, they do their best to post updates. Went there for a special occasion, called for reservation and asked if they had prime rib and were told they did every day. On arrival were told they didn't. Only steak available was 14oz ribeye for $47. In order to not have wasted a trip I ordered the ribs rack with side salad and my wife ordered cob salad. The side salad didn't arrive, ribs were served and I had to ask again for the salad. Both the ribs and cob salad was ordinary at best and the baked potato was just warm not hot. Three out of 6 wet naps were completely dry. Total bill (no alcohol) was $60. Will not return. read more

AMAZING. Omg everything about this place was glorious. We aren't from here and stopped in after seeing it across from where we stayed, and we are so glad we did. We got in a little bit close to when they closed and they were so accommodating and friendly even though I'm sure they weren't too happy about seeing us that late haha. Tasha was our server, and she was the best. She was so kind and quick and gave us some good tips to see the northern lights :) food was SO good- we had the poutine and the fried portabellos, and then for desert had the pretzel brownie and the strawberry cream pie. We went for dinner on a Monday evening. Our dinner took well over an hour to arrive. We understand that it was low staff in the kitchen however, the waitress was not apologetic nor was anything offered for free. Not a free dessert or free soda pops or anything. And then once the meals were brought out, our daughter waited an additional 10 minutes after the rest of the meals were brought out. We did not feel like they cared. Not a great experience. My husband and I were happy to find Glacia Tavern while looking for a place to eat in Mohawk. The poutine was a great appetizer and the serving was huge! I ordered the Creamy Chicken Bowl and it was to die for. It's a bed of jasmine rice with artichoke hearts & sun dried tomatoes in a fantastic cream sauce and topped with charbroiled chicken breast and parmesan cheese. You won't be disappointed if you try it! My husband ordered the ribs and they were good but nothing to write home about. They were tender which was great! We thought they should've tasted smokier and maybe had some crisp on the outside. The salad that came with our meals so very fresh, cold and tasty. They don't make any of their dressings in house but the ranch and the balsamic dressing were both very good. Our daughter had chicken strips and fries which was also really good. The Chicken strips are homemade with buttermilk and panko. SO DELICIOUS!!! No draft beer as of currently but they have a great beer & cider selection. The entire place was clean and tidy. The service was very great! I have an infant so I always hope for bathrooms to be clean, kid friendly and have a changing table. Not only do they have a very clean bathroom and changing table, they also have diapers, wipes, lotion and tampons for any mom and child in need. How awesome is that. We will gladly be back the next time we travel to the area and you should too! read more

I understand you just reopened after the pandemic. Friday Fish Fry is not up to par, more fry than fish. The beer batter overwhelmed what was inside. Had to ask for tarter sauce, then butter for the warm bread sticks. Sorry I asked for Sweet tea, instead of a beer. Didn't need the lecture series that I live in Michigan and not the south. At least the salad was edible. It's 3 am and I'm still trying to digest the fried whatever it was that I ate. I measure a place at how I feel an hour after, comes with driving a big rig. Took a chance (with help from Yelp, of course) and stopped at Glacia for dinner. With the comfortable welcoming atmosphere came delicious food. I had the Parmesan crusted walleye and it was superb. The salad, veggies and garlic mashed potatoes all were excellent. My hubby had the ribs with Rodeo Chipotle BBQ sauce. He talked about them for days. Phenomenal food! Unexpected surprise! Had a huge 1/2 lb rodeo burger that was cooked perfectly (cook understood what "Med" well means!). Crazy good onion rings. Lobster bisque with chunks of meat! We were visiting from out of town and asked where we could get a great fish dinner and veggie burger. Glacia came highly recommended. I ordered the broiled whitefish and my daughter ordered the veggie burger with cheese only. The veggie burger came with avocado and some sort of sautéed vegetable mix on it. My whitefish was over-seasoned and very overcooked. The accompanying baked potato was equally overdone. The fries and vegetables we had were good. Most concerning of all was the sign on the door stating that masks were required inside. The only person wearing a mask was the bartender, who was very nice. The ordinance wasn't being enforced and people who appeared to be "regulars" crowded the bar area. I know it's difficult to be operating during Covid-19, but getting our order wrong and overcooking fish can't be attributed to that. I hope they make it through the pandemic so that we can give them a second chance. Enforce your mask law, please. read more

Our first time dining at Glacia Tavern. We had fabulous service, and our server helped us decide between some amazing dinner options. My husband had the creamy chorizo pasta and I had the creamy chicken rice bowl. Both came with a nicely presented fresh salad; nice touches like julienned carrots using multiple colored carrots. The meals were mind blowing! Fabulous! You could tell everything was fresh and they took great care in both quality and presentation. Veggies were perfectly cooked and both entrees came out hot not your usual "kinda warm." Meal, with salads and drinks totaled $41. Last night we spent $61 at a restaurant in Eagle River, had to eat outside off disposables without service. Tonight was way better quality, great service and an outstanding value! Wish I lived up here so we could frequent Glacia Tavern. read more

What a bummer! This place used to be one of my favorite places to eat in the area but fell off horribly. I brought my family there expecting a solid meal and a good experience. Instead, we were provided with poor customer service and a lesson in horrible language compliments of the waitstaff and the kitchen crew. I had the the appetizers boxed up before they made it to the table, paid my tab, and let the owner know why we were leaving. He was offended when I quietly called the experience BS, but fine with his staff teaching my five year old the f-bomb. We will not return and recommend avoiding this location if you are looking for a family friendly place to eat. read more

We come to the UP every summer and stumbled onto this awesome tavern 30mins before closing and you would never have known it. The staff never rushed us. The poutine is a meal in itself! Crispy flavorful fries. The chicken has a tasty crunchy batter and the chicken itself is very juicy. It comes with an out of this world dill aioli.
