The service I received with Mallory (Mal) felt like a night and day difference when compared to the precious shop I went too. Mal listened to my concerns, my needs, and adjusted to find better selections when I wasn't even sure of what I wanted! I was torn between 2 dresses for different reasons. She helped me find the style that I was ultimately looking for (I had no idea what I was doing) and her selections were spot on. I chose to shop around for a few more weeks but eventually called back to order my dress! If you are early or late in your dress shopping - go to Genevieve's. They had a large selection of dresses that all felt like such great quality and the service was helpful without being obtrusive. Compared to other stores Genevieve's felt calmer and more professional. They set a very high standard that I couldn't find elsewhere. Their selection of dresses felt well maintained (some other dress shops had dresses that really needed to be retired) and classy (no buttons popping off and the dresses I tried on were are in the same size, 14, so I felt like I had a safe comparison across dresses). All of the dresses I tried on had corseting or boning to give the dress support without relying on shapewear. The price range quoted for the store was $2k-$7k but the dresses I selected were actually below $2k.

One of the higher-up employees was speaking very disrespectfully to the seamstress right in front of customers, which was really uncomfortable to witness. I arrived for my scheduled 11:00 appointment to simply pick up the dress--nothing needed to be done--but I was told I would have to come back at 5:00 to get it. They also never called me when the dress came in. Earlier in the process, they told me I needed to find my own seamstress for alterations, so I arranged that on my own. Then, because they didn't have my dress in on time, they suddenly told me they could "fit me in" with their seamstress instead. The whole situation felt very disorganized and frustrating. Overall, the customer service was poor and the experience was far more stressful than it should have been for something as important as a wedding dress. DO NOT go to Debra for your alterations. Even if she was recommended by your bridal boutique. The…read morework she did on my wedding gown was just awful. I had and am still having an awful experience with Debra. From the beginning she was hard to communicate with. At first, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt because she had mentioned that she would be having some surgeries and would be trying to get the alterations done before then. But I regret giving her my dress at all. She never knew who I was or what she was altering for me whenever I spoke with her regarding my dress. This was a big red flag but she already had my dress. She was very forceful/rude when it came to payments being in cash only and constantly reminded me of this fact. The alterations she was going to do were adding a bustle, shortening the straps, replacing the zipper, fixing the snags on the lace, and adding cups. The buttons and hooks she added for the bustle are sloppily sewn on and make the fabric pucker and it does not lay correctly. They are also not evenly placed. There is also one hook missing. She did not shorten the straps (or she didn't shorten them enough because they still fall off my shoulders) or fix the snags. The zipper replacement was also very sloppy. You can see the zipper through my dress and it is crooked. I've spoken to another seamstress since and she confirms that the work is bad and very sloppy. As you can imagine, this was all very upsetting to me when I finally tried on my dress. Which she didn't mention that I should do before picking up the dress. My mom picked it up for me and I didn't have a final fitting. Not only was all of the sloppy work upsetting, but I also spent almost $300 on alterations that I will just have to have fixed by someone else. She also charged me for the cups to be added in but she did not finish the work. She wanted to wait to add the cups because they don't fair well in the dry cleaning process. At the time, I thought that waiting on the cups was fine because I assumed I would be going back to her to finish my alterations. I will not be returning to her for future work. I contacted Debra on more than one occasion to share my concerns and ask for a refund and her response further confirms that she does not know who I am and she does not remember my dress. She said that I had a final fitting with her and that I did not voice any of these concerns. As I stated earlier in my review, I did not have a final fitting. She never mentioned having one and rushed me to pick up the dress because she was having a surgery. Because I couldn't get there in her time frame, my mom picked up my dress for me. She did refund me the amount for the cup installation. Even if it doesn't come close to what I will have to pay to get it all fixed. I understand that she was having some surgeries but she should not have taken me on as a client if she could not deliver quality work. Debra is unprofessional and does not take the time to even try to know the client she is talking to.
