Service is not kind here. From the moment we walked up my family and I were given attitude. I was so excited to come here and that quickly changed. It just didn't feel like an inviting environment. Also, website says "full service" bridal shop but in no way is this one. They don't help You get in the dress or give any suggestions? Couldn't find my "stylist" the whole time I was there. P you pick all the dresses yourself which I get but truly so odd. the dresses themselves feel outdated and expensive for what they are. Their overall quality doesn't feel good but you can tell it's really off the rack. Lot of rips, missing hardware, armpit stains, and makeup. I stopped by Glamour Closet just to get an idea of what I might want and unexpectedly walked out with the first dress I tried on! If you have a fixed budget be sure to include the cost of a cleaning, it might appear fine when you try it on but it will make a major difference once it's cleaned. Also, alterations are probably going to be needed as well so just be prepared and assume it's going to be more than what you are told by a sales rep. This dress shop is a Chicago gem! They have a decently wide selection of wedding dresses available for a discounted price (many are at least 40-50% of the retail price). The dresses that I saw here ranged in price from $400-$2,000 with most falling in the $1,000-$2000 price range. There is only 1 of each dress in the store, so if you find one that you like, you'll potentially have to spend a decent amount on alterations (can range anywhere between $100-$800) if the size isn't perfect. However, I think it's still worth it because you can use the money you save on the price of the wedding dress for alterations! I also wanted to give a special shout out to Kaitlyn, the consultant that we worked with. She was super patient and understanding and worked with us through numerous wedding dress changes (they allow you to take 7 dresses into the fitting room). She helped us to elevate our chosen dress to the next level by taking the time to pin different makeshift fabric sleeves and beaded embellishments onto the dress that we choose so that we could complete our vision and feel 100% comfortable purchasing the dress day of. Review from a larger future bride: I've been to this store 3 different times in the last 2 months. Each time was on a weekday evening, so there wasn't any large crowds or long lines for the dressing rooms. It was actually quite relaxing to just come in the store and browse without feeling any pressure. The store is well organized. I am a street size 14/16 and the larger sizes (bridal size 18 +) are in one area together. I would say that around 80% of the samples in the store are for people who are street sizes under a size 10. Despite there being more dresses available in smaller sizes, I still saw some amazing larger gowns on the racks. The prices are not bad for the designers that they carry here. Some dresses are actually a bit under $1000, while others go for more. During my first 2 visits, I found this incredible Enzoani gown that I considered getting. Unfortunately, this gown was one of the first wedding gowns I had ever tried on at any wedding dress store, so I kept questioning whether I should get it or not. I ended up walking out without it. After trying on several other dresses at other stores, I realized that I probably shouldn't have walked away from the Enzoani dress. None of the other dresses compared to this one. I came back last week after work, and the manager told me that there was another dress really similar to the original dress I liked. I tried this one on and was wowed by it. After sending photos to a couple of my friend's and my mom, I decided to not let this dress slip away. I took my new Stella York dress home that night. read more

Came here to help my friend shop for her wedding dress, which is a completely new experience for me given this is the first time I'll be in a wedding. It's walk-in only! There are a lot of designer dresses, and they are sectioned off by type onto clothing racks (i.e. poofy, A-line, etc). Today is where I learned that super poofy wedding dresses are the least popular, which is why they have one rack of them. I'm behind times! The dresses are sold as-is, and it doesn't look like they have multiple sizes of the same dress. That's one of the reasons the dresses are discounted. They give you a bag of clips so that you can clip the dresses that you want to try on as you peruse the collections. They have four big dressing rooms with curtains and robe provided, a wooden platform with a giant mirror, and three chairs on each side of the platform. It would have been nice to have a mirror that allows for a more 180-degree or 360-degree view. The service is awesome. Michelle was extremely helpful, personable, and attentive. I cannot recommend this store enough! What an empowering experience it was shopping here. The concept is that you buy wedding dresses "off the rack". For those who are not as familiar with the traditional process of buying a wedding dress, you normally go to a boutique and try on their sample dresses. After you find a design that you like, then they take your custom measurements and send them to the designer who makes the gown for you based on those measurements. After which time, you usually have to still pay to get it altered for an even better fit. The process can be very pricey. The concept behind glamour closet allows you to simply buy the sample dress and take it home with you that day, as opposed to waiting the roughly 9 months that it takes for a traditional bridal shop to get your dress back. I found an absolutely jaw-dropping dress and bought it for such a steep discount that I still cannot believe it today. The staff was wonderful and everyone is given equal time and energy to have a beautiful experience. I am so happy that the shop exist amidst the money extremely pricey other options that are in the area. Went early on Sunday 11/29/2020, we were the only ones there at 11am when they opened. We worked with Lisa- literally can not say enough positive things about her!! She was so upbeat and positive and made me feel like a princess. I said yes to the dress here!! I am a bridal size 18/20 and they had so many dresses for me to try on!!! I saw other posts saying the dresses needed dry cleaning or spot cleaning- I didn't see any that seemed dirty or needing major cleaning. My best friend bought her dress here and loved it. About 5 months ago, I purchased a beautiful and unique Pronovias gown with a long train for about $2,100. During my appointment, we had hesitation about alternating the gown to fit to a smaller size. The stylist Michelle assured us that alterations would be easy and cutting the train would not be an issue. After going to a few seamstresses we found that this was not going to be an easy process. The hip portion of the dress cannot be altered without interring with the integrity of the dress. Following that recent appointment, we called and spoke with a staff to see if there is anything that they can do. We were told that there is nothing they can do. I came in here, as a first time bride/shopper and I'm not sure how most bridal gown shopping experiences should be, but if it's anything like the experience here, I would definitely recommend it time after time. We did not need to make an appointment as it was walk-in only and it removed the pressure of having a consultant within a time frame and feeling like you had to find a dress immediately during your appointment. I arrived with no specific silhouette, designer, or dress details in mind but I was able to find my wedding dress in an hour...on my first try! It was honestly the most exciting thing to happen during this wedding planning process. We were greeted and immediately told the rules and how the store works. I appreciated this because it was to the point and an efficient process. You receive a bag of clips that you can put on the hanger to signal you'd like to try the dress on, this way the dresses don't get damaged and you're not handling the gowns because this store is off the rack so the dress you see is the dress you buy and walk out with. I appreciated this because no one wants tears, snags, make up all over their future wedding gown! I was eventually introduced to a consultant (Colleen) and she asked me about 10 questions and was able to know exactly what I was looking for. We tried on about 6 dresses but I knew that the first dress was the one for me. She was extremely honest and open about her opinions and that meant a lot to me. My best advice would be to show up as early in the day as possible because they only let a couple brides try on dresses at a time, so if you don't want to wait for ten people ahead of you to find their gown then come early. One thing that was a downfall for me was the dress selection. Their inventory options are hard to predict so if you've got a very specific dress in mind you may not find it, at least not on your first try. I would suggest shopping well in advance and stopping by several time in order to increase your chances of finding the one. Came by here this past weekend with the fiancee since she wanted to get crackin' on wedding dresses already. On the short, Glamour Closet stocks showroom and runway sample dresses at deeply discounted prices. Think boutique meets outlet. A great option if you trying to save some serious dough. I'm not sure what to expect to pay as far as wedding dresses are concerned but between the 6 dresses she looked at ranged from $1k-$4k. There's definitely lots of variety and styles, so being the first time looking around it was definitely a good place to see and try different style to at least get an idea of what styles you like and don't like. On the plus side, no appointments are needed you just need to show up. We tried to get there right when they opened but already 4 or 5 brides deep in front of us. I thought we were early birds, but wedding dress shopping not a game apparently. If you snooze, you wait an hour to try dresses on as you need to be helped by a consultant. Anyways, the way this works, you're given a spiel as soon as you walk in. After you provide your contact information, you're placed in queue to be helped by a consultant. Meanwhile you're given a bag of 6 clips and you can go around the store to look at dresses. See one you like, and you put the clip on it to mark it. Once a consultant becomes available, they'll gather up all the dresses you clipped and prep the changing area for ya. Another pleasant surprise was the consultant helping us was a Yelp friend, Michelle. She was great and knowledgeable and had a great eye for accessorizing with additional diamond belts and veils. Always cool to meet Yelp friends in real life! Being a smaller shop and having a consistent flow of dresses coming in, they don't typically hold dresses for more than a business day which makes sense. Although we didn't find THE ONE, it was a great spot to as first timers to at least start looking at styles and get an idea of pricing. Probably half of the groups that we're ahead of us ended up buying, and if I can say anything it's definitely an emotional moment once you find that one dress. So have those tissues handy just in case. Not sure I got much else on this one. I found my dress here!! Below is a review and dress shopping guidance if it's helpful for you!! A few tips... we arrived 10 minutes before opening on a Saturday and no one was waiting, which made it easy to start immediately. I had tried on 20 dresses already, so knew the "vibe." Had I gone here first, I maybe would have passed over the dress I bought. It took agile development... trying and rejecting things to get closer to what I wanted... They had many diverse styles - at least 5 racks of A-line, with relatively smaller numbers of ball gowns or sheaths. I bought a two piece, which is what I wanted. At least two dresses I tried on were STUNNING. Sadly, while gorgeous, they weren't right for our vibe or would have been intimidating. I wanted the dress to "feel right" so even though those dresses were jaw-dropping, they didn't feel right. By the time I put my dress on, I was saying (first in my head, then out loud) "to think this is the one." The consultant had just said "if you find your dress here, you will not need any other appointments!" Sneaky!! It makes a difference (to me!) that they had a dress that fit me perfectly, requiring no alterations and no weight loss! I am a size 10 street and bought a 12. They had sizes up to 24 that we saw and were beautiful. Go Glamour Closet!! The attendants were very realistic about what could or could not be altered. When we walked in, my daughter and sister had the feeling that we would find a dress there. There were so many to choose from! Especially for size 6 to 14 street sizes. Without having to order and tailor. It was much easier to try dresses that actually fit... I think that's how I ended up walking out with this dress. I didn't have to envision the size 6 sample on my size 12 body. So... if you know kind of what shape or color looks good (I liked white, avoided anything even Vera Wang, with any yellowish tint), and how much bling or shimmer and kinds of fabric you like and what is the vibe you want (classic, black tie, romantic, bling, mod, boho), they've got it!!! As I left, I saw women trying on the dresses that I had said weren't right for me, so it's easy to try on this-and-that. For the details, I worked with Michelle, who was fabulous. She helped me into each gown and guided me for how much to suck in or squiggle down. She gave guided suggestions about what could or could not be altered. She didn't pull anything herself, that was all my family. There were five of us, so she patiently helped me into maybe a dozen gowns. Her manager helped with getting zippers up! I bought a Carolina Herrera detachable skirt of all tulle for $1400. And a bodice from Martina Liana at $699. Both were 50% off. I could have probably found a matching skirt for cheaper elsewhere, but it felt great to just be done!! The bodice is still on the designer's site. The skirt is probably from a few seasons ago. Both were in fine shape and as I mentioned, no alterations or cleaning even necessary. And, as a bonus, if you're not an Illinois or Michigan resident, if they ship out of state, there is no tax! And a $75 shipping fee. Saved me $150. All good! read more

Had an excellent experience today at Glamour Closet with Michelle who helped my friend select her wedding dress. We went on a weekday early in the day, so we had the place to ourselves. Michelle mentioned that later in the day and on weekends it gets hectic, and I can imagine because there are no appointments here, just walk ins only. Lots of dresses to choose from. Please note that wedding sizes are smaller, so be prepared to look at dresses 2 sizes up from your regular size. There didn't seem to be a lot of plus size options, but my friend is tiny so that didn't effect her experience. Most dresses seem to be in the $1000 - $1700 range, though they go as low as $600 and as high as $6,000. Michelle did an excellent job walking us through the process and showing us how dresses could be altered. There is no private room to try on the dresses with your friends (though of course there is a private changing area). If there are any other brides shopping at the same time as you, you will have to share the presentation space with them. I recommend coming with just one other person and not your whole bridal party, because it is a small space that can get crowded. All of the gowns are unique, so they can't hold a gown for you if you need to think about it. We took our time debating between two dresses for this reason. No one rushed our pressured my friend, despite other customers starting to stroll in. I will recommend this business in the future to other brides. We went on a Saturday and the place was pretty busy - it took about 45 minutes for us to get to try on dresses but were given little clips to pick out dresses right away. The women we had helping us was AMAZING so sweet - I unfortunately never got her name , she was an older women. I would absolutely recommend working with her - she wasn't pushy and was so patient during this process. We got lucky , when we were coming the staff were pulling plus size dresses (which my friend was a plus size bride) and they let us try some of them on as well! The cons of this place are up to four girls can try dresses on at once - so it's definitely not an intimate experience . Yes. To the dress. And to Glamour Closet. Yes. I've been to other bridal stores but never had any luck with finding "THE dress." I tried on many dresses, but never seemed to get that emotional feeling to any dress that would ultimately seal the deal.... until I came to Glamour Closet. When my fiancé, Tim, and I arrived (I will talk about the decision to bring my fiancé at the end) we were welcomed by Michelle. She went through how the store works, and showed us how the dresses were sectioned off by type/style. She handed us a bag of clips and set us off to clip dresses that I should try on. She did not rush us at all, helped me in and out of every dress, described every dress in detail, provided recommendations for alterations, and even styled dresses we liked with various veils and a bouquet. She was super sweet and made the experience so much more special, not only for myself, but for Tim as well. We were about 2 or 3 dresses in when I finally felt emotional. I didn't know if it was because my Tim was there, so I sucked it up and didn't let it show. The show just go on, so we continued with different dresses. I ultimately ended up with 3 A-line dresses that I loved. We rated these 3 dresses in order of preference, and I put on each dress a second time. The dress that all of us rated #1 was $2450, #2-$2100, and #3-$1250. We were not looking at price tag when we were trying and rating (I actually didn't even know the cost of each dress yet). Dress #3 was the dress that I got the emotional feel from the first round of try-ons, and upon 2nd try-ons, I also got choked up in the dressing room, even before going out onto the runway. We rated all 3 dresses again, and decided that dress #1, although was bomb as hell, was not the one. I tried on dress #2 for a third time, and fell in love with it some more. We played around with different veils and even off the shoulder straps. It was romantic and had an awesome dramatic train. I was thinking, in that moment, that this dress might be the one, and I love it, but maybe I wasn't going to get that emotional connection to it. And I was ok with that. I was ready to accept that. But Tim said to try on dress #3 again, since it was the only one that tickled my heart strings a little, and if I got emotional again, then that was the one. So I put on dress #3 again, and am standing on the stand, ready to dismiss it for dress #2, when Michelle puts a veil on me. I look up into the mirror and yup. Yup. This time I couldn't hold it back. I turned to look at Tim and I can see that he also was emotional. He gave me a slight nod and that was it. Waterfall. THIS MOMENT WAS SO SPECIAL! Tim and I stood there, me crying into his neck. Us just holding each other. We both knew that this was the dress, even if it wasn't our favorite dress on. The dress gods had it set in stone, and I am so glad that in my heart, I knew that all of the other dresses I tried on previously were not right, and that I should keep searching. When I finally was able to let go of Tim, I looked up and there was Michelle, with a box of tissues. Bless her heart, she was crying too! How special is that? It was like Oprah was there handing out tears to everybody, lol. Anyway, needless to say, I found my dress! We got it for $1250 and also bought a veil that Michelle called "her most favorite of all time." She knows her stuff, if you go there and get Michelle, listen to her! So about bringing my fiancé... friends and family are great, and I know a lot of brides don't want their husband or bride to be to see them until their wedding day, however, I found that for me, he is the person that grounds me. He makes me feel good about my decisions, and this was a big decision. I tried on dress after dress, but couldn't figure out why none of them called out to me. Having him there made the moment so special, especially when we both felt the same thing about the same dress. Even though the dress wasn't our top pick, we both felt emotional to the same dress. The heart knows what the heart wants, and you just cannot argue with the heart when you both cry for the same dress. That moment is so special to me, to have us both choose the dress. And Michelle being there and seeing her get emotional for us just made it all so much more special. You have a special place in my heart, Michelle. Thank you so much!! This is such a lovely boutique with marvelous amazing people and dresses. My sister and I popped in to scope out dresses for her up coming I-do s. We were greeted by Michelle's warm smile and personality. The dresses are all oh so beautiful. We found one that called to us, and Michelle so generously offered to let us try it on, despite it being after fitting hours. She has immense patience and style. Tips: -we were able to zero in on a one dress because we knew what general style we were looking for. If you don't know yet, this may be a great place to try on a diversity of dresses -the dresses on the rack are the dresses they have. Ie, you can go home with the dress same day (and tailor through their outside referrals; no tailoring done by store). I said yes to the dress here! We arrived right when it opened on a Saturday (they do not take appointments). I picked out maybe 10 dresses to start and my dress was the 8th dress that I tried on. Jasmine was who helped me in and out of the dresses and she could not have been more helpful. She really made the experience memorable for us. I ended up buying that dress that day and couldnt be happier! By the time we left there were 3-4 other brides waiting to try dresses on. We all know weddings cost a lot of money, and you might as well set your thousands of dollars on fire In a trash can when you start adding up wedding cost. One of the main reason I've been searching for sample sales is to of course save lots and lots of money. Yes anyone can go to David bridal and pick out a dress that is somewhat in a decent price range. I still wanted to find a dress I love but without a hefty price tag... Therefore Labor Day weekend I set off to Chicago n found on Yelp about glamour closet. Pros: 1. Parking is very easy even though it right downtown 2. The ladies that worked there were throughly helpful and super nice 3. It was clean and organized Cons: 1. Even though they carry designer dresses a lot of items were still pretty pricey for being samples 2. Some of the conditions of the dresses weren't in that great of shape 3. The taxes of Chicago omg I know they can't help this but 10.5% (burn your wallets now) In the end I didn't find anything I loved but there were a few I did try on and thought were beautiful! I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Glamour Closet thanks to my consultant Tiffany and also thanks to Erica. This was the first place I went dress shopping and was pretty nervous, I'm a 10/12 in regular clothes and wasn't sure how I'd fit in the gowns. But! There was great selection of sizes and the dresses...oh my gosh the dresses. Stunning one of a kind dresses at 25% - 60% off. This shop operates differently from most bridal salons and I actually much prefer it. You get to walk through the show room and put clips on dresses that you like. Then the consultants pull the dresses and you try them on. They are great at helping you narrow down dresses and when one is "out" they move it back to the racks. Because they are sample dresses you buy your dress (and accessories) and get to walk out of the store with them (which I love!). With the purchase of my gown they gave me a $50 gift card to their recommended tailor. I tried on a few dresses and ended up falling in love with a gorgeous beaded Lazaro that I paid half of retail for. I also got an absolutely beautiful Carolina Herrera veil. I always dreamed about getting a designer gown and I didn't think it would happen in my price range. But thanks to the Glamour Closet I did. I tell people "It's like TJ Maxx for designer wedding gowns!" Ha! I also have to give major kudos to the wonderful staff. Tiffany was my consultant and Erica was also super sweet and helpful. Both of them helped make my experience so special! The whole vibe of Glamour Closet was relaxed and friendly. We left Glamour Closet to go to an appointment at BHLDN and I left after about 45 minutes to book it back to GC to buy my dress before they closed! There's no comparison when it comes to both dresses and staff. My friend is getting married!! Since she is one of the first friend to get married, all of this wedding gown shopping is a new experience for us and can be overwhelming. Glamour closet definitely walked us through it and made it a fun experience. Glamor Closet sell marked down designer gowns, so there is only one dress and one size. And if you don't decide on the gown there, then you might not be able to get that gown. We walked in after a quick lunch and since unfortunately they do not take appointments we had to put our name on the list. The owner originally said we would have to wait 3 hours since we had about 3-4 brides ahead of us. We almost said forget it and walked away, but we stuck it through and surprisingly we waited for about less than an hour. During the hour, we were given a bag of clips to clip the dresses the bride wanted to try. There were quite a few selections from cinderella style to mermaid. By the time we decided on the dresses, it was our turn in the fitting room. I was a little surprised by the size of this store front. The area where the bride comes out to show her party the dress (sorry I do not know the name of this) was quite small. Definitely not suitable to bring a large party. The employee assisted the bride with the fitting and she did a great job with helping her figure out what style she liked better and what styles she didn't like. Unfortunately I forgot the employee's name but she was really great at pointing out special details of each gown. We did find a gown we really liked, however since it is still i the early phase of wedding gown shopping, we did not decide on a gown. This place is definitely for people who knows exactly what they want, and for people who have been looking at wedding gowns for a while now.
