It had been a few years since I'd been on the lake, and my son wanted to take his buddies up on the boat. We were having fun and I wasn't watching the sun in the sky- and then realized that we needed to get to a gas station ASAP. We pulled in on absolute fumes to Bridge Bay at 6:05pm, and were greeted by a very kind young man who let us know unfortunately that they were closed. I begged for a miracle- single lady on a lake with a bunch of kids, and he took me to see his manager to plead my case. I even offered them $100 cash for any gas they might have... manager said no. "Nope, I don't have the codes." No idea what that means... just know he refused to help me. I realize that this was my mistake- but honestly, a gas station should have a way to help people in emergencies. I'd leave a one star review- but the young man was so kind and polite, he was really trying to help, despite his manager. It was a lesson learned about gas, closing times, and I have a new awareness about the lake community- you are really on your own out there. read more

Overpriced for the lack of amenities they offer. I launched my boat here and the boat ramp and dock are awful. The dock is old and run down and half the cleats are broken off. The dock scratched my boat even with bumpers. There were only a handful of cleats to tie off to and they were all at the end of the dock 100' or more from the shore. Made self launching take very long and was inefficient. Which only adds to traffic at the ramp and wait times. The dock was also 20-30' away from the ramp meaning you had to park your truck, launch your boat, get it running, then go tie it up you couldn't pull it over by hand and tie it up to keep traffic moving. The guy at the gate also made up launch and day use prices when I asked. Good thing I called ahead and got the real prices from the main office. Great location but terrible launching facilities. I Expect better for $25. read more

Stayed at the lodge a couple of days. Location is why this place is great. The lodge is old, dated, and rustic. Needs updating, but is priced right for what you get. Huff's restaurant was great! Happy hour food and drinks were well worth the price. Employees were very helpful and accommodating. Boat moorage was good but a lot of stairs, we made it work with a handicapped person. read more

Rented a jetski here for 4 hours and payed 390 PLUS insurance and was not told gas was not included in this pricing. Not on agreement either. Upon returning to the marina they fill the gas tank and make you pay a prepaid $250 and return what wasn't used. They charge $7 a gallon and without telling you on the website, in your agreement or to your face at check in. We sat with three different individuals and not one of them told us at the end there would be an additional $250. The jetski ran great but EXTREMELY over priced and disappointed by the lack of communication or warning. read more

Broken gas gages and making up their own rules last minute!! I'm not a poster as you can see my history but I need to warn folks. Our gas gauge was broken on house boat and rental and when asked how you can tell how much gas we used the said we just know. At this point we are stuck in a contact. This posit doesn't even go over the conflicting info we got. Or the fact we hauled all of our stuff on house boat in 20 mins because they changed return time as we docked . I rented the Grand Sierra EX from Friday to Friday for my family's vacation this year. This was my first time house boating on Lake Shasta. I have nothing but positive things to say about this trip. From the time I booked it (In Dec. if 2024) to the time I checked it in for the last time. The entire staff at Bridge Bay is fantastic. Everyone from the reservation team (special shout out to Jena and Zach!!!), to the restaurant team, to the marina/fuel team, to the orientation check in team, and to maintenance team (special shout out to Reggie), my family and I were treated like family! Subject: Chris Gordon, Manager, Bridge Bay I am writing to formally call attention to a seriously problematic individual who is a terrible reflection on Bridge Bay Marina. He is an absolute liability, and from what I am learning, his bad reputation precedes him. I am referring to Chris Gordon, the manager. His heavy-handed actions make it very clear that he is a highly insecure person who needs to exercise authority to compensate aggressively for his inadequacies. I kept my pontoon boat in Marina 2, slip 10, until yesterday, 5-2-2025. My first interaction with Chris occurred several months ago. My friend and mechanic, Brian, was removing my boat for maintenance. Chris and his staff were doing the same for one of Bridge Bay's houseboats. In a very rude fashion, Chris continuously honked his horn and aggressively yelled orders at Brian. He told Brian to move my boat further over towards the side of the road. I found that odd because it appeared to me there was plenty of room. Brian complied completely and moved my boat exactly where Chris asked, but apparantly that was not good enough for Chris. Again, he leaned on his horn and screamed out orders. Brian, who is typically patient and level-headed, was upset. He approached Chris and his staff and asked, "What is your problem?" I intervened at that point to keep the peace. While de-escalating the situation with Brian, I could hear Chris and his staff yelling provocative, antagonistic comments. Despite that, the problem was resolved; however, I remember thinking that Chris and his staff were very unprofessional, especially considering that we are paying customers. Fast-forward to April 30th. My wife and I decided to take our boat out and go fishing. When we approached the parking/guard shack at the entrance of Bridegebay, we noticed a pickup truck towing a boat in front of us. The driver was outside his truck, laughing and joking with Chris and his staff. After waiting for a considerable amount of time, my wife asked me, "Can't they see us waiting?" She then said, "Just drive around. We have the parking permit hanging from our rear view mirror...and they will wave us on anyway." I agreed and proceeded to drive around. To our surprise, Chris and a staff member ran after us while waving their arms and screaming for us to stop. I complied and rolled down the driver's side window. Chris approached and yelled, "WHERE IS YOUR PERMIT?" I responded by pointing to the permit hanging from my mirror and saying: "It is right f**king here." Chris replied Don't you use that language with me. That yellow permit has expired. The new ones are blue! This is my Marina, and I will have your truck towed and your boat impounded. (Since he immediately saw my "expired" yellow permit, all he had to do was advise me that my new blue permit was waiting for me in the office, which I had already bought and paid for. Instead, Chris chose to flex his muscles pathetically). I responded with "F**k You." Chris then told me to get out of his sight and to pick up my new blue permit at the office. He reminded me that he would have my vehicle towed without it. My wife and I then drove down the hill to the office. As we walked in, Chris came speeding down the hill after us. He re-escalated the situation, which could have been resolved right there. Apparently, Chris's fragile ego could not accept my four-letter word. He had a change of heart and proclaimed, "You are not getting a new permit. You are getting evicted. Nobody talks to me like that. LOL. He then ordered his staff not to deal with me. What followed was that I graphically explained to Chris what I thought of him. At one point, he attempted to grab my expired parking permit from my hand physically. That cannot be justified. That ridiculous action caused me to warn him that if he put his hands on me, I would "knock him out." My wife and I left and were advised that we were being evicted. We have since removed our boat from Bridgebay, which is fine with us in retrospect. The bottom line is that both of these incidents were preventable. The reservation process was easy and flawless, we arrived with no notion of having to have our "day" rental back by 5? It doesn't get dark til 9. Waited over 45 min to check in and tried 3 credit cards and they had issues with computers but it was My fault. Got to the dock to a nice man to help but then had to watch a video and after 5 min was told never mind it didn't work. The whole 4 hours out of a full day rental was great. Over priced. Charged 500$ for a 4 hour trip. Upon return was charged 97$ for 14 gal of gas. They staff at the end of the day was arguing with each other. Maybe explain that all guests have to fill out a waiver, explain upon renting that they close at 6 and boats have to be back by 5. Bridge bay is nice people all the workers at work there are very nice they go above and beyond to help you if you have a boat, you could rent a space and leave it there. It's very convenient for everyone to just show up and get on your boat. and your stuff doesn't come up missing from your boat. I just love it and I know a lot of people that love bridge bay just peaceful and a great place to go see the sunset or just get on your boat and go out on the lake. read more

We had a travelzoo voucher. Night 1 Battery died, so the motor wouldn't run mechanic swapped battery. Night 2 septic overflowed for 5 of us. We drove boat to dock so they could pump and then drove back to our spot. Concerns of what could happen after Night 3 we just decided to pack up and go home. 260 for gas. The only place we drove besides the inlet was the dock that took 2 hours each way. They should have given us gas for that. They do not clean the units. So come with cleaning supplies. This was our second experience with them. The first time, I just had a boat with two motors, and one wasn't running. After this experience, we will not return. read more

This was SUPPOSED to be our third annual houseboat trip with friends, but NEVER AGAIN! These people are HORRIBLE! They cancelled our 2 nights because of poor air quality and it's been over A MONTH and we still haven't received our refund. Oh, and I called them a week before they cancelled to make sure we were still on, and the girl acted like I was an idiot for calling. "Umm if you haven't cancelled, then it's still on." We've called almost 10 times and all they say is "it's gonna take a while" but won't give us an actual time frame. They are seriously extremely unprofessional and I'm assuming they're bankrupt if they can't afford to refund people. Any advice on how to get my money back? We are thinking about calling the Shasta police but I'm not sure they could handle it. Rented a houseboat from this place for Memorial Day weekend. Let me just say that this may have been the funnest vacation I have ever taken! It had it all! We took the boat exploring, found a great little cove and TORE IT UP all weekend. We also brought a ski boat, and a fishing boat, but the houseboat was the perfect mobile base! Setting sail was easy, then had a minor issue, but a maintenance boat came out and promptly fixed the problem. It turned out to be user error, but none the less, they had us going in about 15 minutes!!! After the weekend we turned the houseboat in. we've been residents on Dock 5 for many years and have received good service over the years. During the summer months there is always plenty of help and assistance by employees. no complaints. But coming down late in fall we realize staff is down as so are patrons. Doesn't make sense to be over staffed if no one is needed. Monday the 30th, we were tending to our boat, getting ready to lock it up for the winter. Several houseboats and fishing boats came in the same time for fuel, ice, supplies and service. the Gal on the docks was hustling her little Fanny off and still very polite. i believe her name was Kate? We planned a family vacation (5 adults and 5 grandchildren) for the week of July 10th 2021. Unless you are a boat mechanic, electrician and plumber, we recommend you steer clear of Bridge Bay Houseboats. Sp.ent a lot of time troubleshooting their problems Dirty boats, stinking bathrooms, spider infested, only 1 engine worked most of the time and with 100+ degree weather the air conditioner worked only part time. We lost at least 3 days of our vacation due to boat problems that even their mechanics had a hard time troubleshooting and fixing. Suggest using other Houseboat sites.......I had trouble giving them even 1 star. read more

we rented a houseboat for a party of eight people this June . the experience great no haste to get on and get set up. We got there early and someone was at the dock able to help us out quickly. The boat was ready. We rented with them before so the process to get going was very fast, the boat we chose is no frills sleeps 10. same as they have been for more than 20+ years. There are some new ones in their fleet, but the one we received was one we've had when I first started going in the mid 90s, that's not to say that they're bad. They do up keep them pretty well, good value for money overall, and they tend to have the best prices on the lake . The staff while we were there is always very pleasant when getting gas at the dock or bringing the boat back from our trip. It is centrally located on the lake to every arm and is always our go to spot when we need quick convenience store things at the Marina shop. If you can hit the restaurant and sit out on the patio looking over at the Bridge in Lake below the food is good. The beers are also good. We've done it the last two times and very pleased. read more

Hello! This place stinks. We rented a boat (patio one day, ski the next). We had a communication error, whereby they mixed up my reservation days (which was fine because they fixed it - and had boats open - but if they were booked out we would've been out of luck). The boats are dingy, the staff seems over worked (everyone in reservations was feisty and quick to jump down your throat). The worst part was our boat broke down the second day and we were stranded on the lake - no refund, nothing. We had to wait for an hour for them to tow us back and in the meantime when I asked the woman at the reservation desk when the tow boat would arrive she simply said "I don't know" and hung up the phone - while we were stranded on the lake. (Karen) Other comments: They don't tell you when you book you have to pay for gas. If you hang out on the docks for 10-20 minutes, you are bound to hear other people who's boats have broken down. The staff was nice! The boat not so great. It wasn't cleaned before we rented it so there was a bottle of which looked like Urine, all kinds of trash in it. I dont' know if there was a rung or something missing from the ladder but even the strongest of people had a terrible time getting back into the boat. **Beware of Renting Sea-Doos or Ski Boats from Bridge Bay Marina** Why? Because they don't offer Collision Damage Waivers for you to purchase. Any reputable/legit establishment would offer a CDW as an option when renting Ski Boat or a Jet Ski because (as they know all too well) shit happens out of the water all the time and damage to their equipment is a very common occurrence. They know this - but they are just too damn cheap to hold proper Commercial Insurance coverage that would give you (the customer) the peace of mind to purchase a CDW while on your family vacation renting one of their Jet Skis. Conveniently, they don't tell you this until your there the day of to check in with your family and ready to go out on the water. I did ask them for it at the counter but they said they just don't offer a CDW and that I'd simply lose my deposit ($500) if anything was to happen and I'd have to pay their Insurance Co' deductible. (This turned out to be total BS) So - rather than be the BuzzKill Dad at the rental counter - I went forward with the Jet Ski rental to have some fun - but against my better judgement as I've been boating for many years and know how easy it is to have an issue. Sure enough, during the course of the day we had a small incident where the Jet Ski got too close to our houseboat and we punched a small hole in the side of the Jet Ski. No one got hurt thankfully but they are charging me $2500 to repair this. (see pic) This is on top of the $450 per day to rent their Jet Ski. An expensive day on the water for sure. I wanted to write this review however, so that anyone else out there looking to rent a Ski boat or a Jet Ski from Bridge Bay is informed of this issue and might avoid getting stuck with a huge repair bill. Imho, its just poor business practice on Bridge Bay's part not to offer their customers a CDW as part of the overall cost to rent one of their Jet Skis? Why not? The customer would bear the cost for a temp CDW which would offset their Risk so they can enjoy their vacation. Their not offering a CDW makes me believe they don't really care about customers that rent from them and so I won't be renting from them when I'm back up there in a month on another house boat trip. I'm sure they don't care about losing a customer but at least we can share our experiences online for others to learn from. Thanks Yelp! Btw, the 2023 GTX Pro Sea Doo we rented costs $13K retail - which I'm sure they didn't pay full price for. However the fix here for this damage is $2500? Imagine IF you had a serious accident with the Jet Ski - It would be a complete loss and you'd be on the hook for $13K. I guess then it would make send to go through your Homeowners Ins. Pretty shady of BB not to offer CDW's. In summary - Beware of Renting Sea Doos or Ski Boats from Bridge Bay Marina for this reason - your bearing all the Risk. read more

We rented the Cascade houseboat for my family of 7 adults for 4 days (Thur-Sun). I only have positive things to say. The boat was older, but it was perfect and all we needed. The Bridge Bay staff were all so nice.... from those at the front desk..... those at the dock..... and those in the store. It was our first experience renting a houseboat, but I feel like they prepared us very well. They were available by phone when we had a technical question. As we were checking out I booked another trip for next year. This time for a week.... because 4 days of fun was just not long enough. :) read more

We have had only positive experiences with Bridge Bay until this year when we had some frustrating mechanical issues (details below). This cost us ~5-6 HOURS of sitting around waiting on mechanics and Bridge Bay refused to offer any incentive for us to return next year. I spoke to Kris (the mechanic? In the Broken Rudder shop...) about this in person and he curtly told me he wouldn't compensate me for any lost time. He handled the situation very poorly. It was very disappointing and frustrating to spend vacation time waiting on mechanics for HOURS only to have our boat never work properly. I shared this information with Bridge Bay customer service and never heard back from them (I waited 11 days before posting here, trying to give them a chance to make this right). Not a word. Full disclosure: we did take advantage of a deal (we paid for 2 nights and got 2 free and also received a $200 gas card). I don't expect to have this trip for free. I do expect the customer service manager (Kevin? Anyone?) to acknowledge our disappointing experience. Good customer service costs nothing and earns repeat business. Details: 1. Our generator stopped working on the first day so we had a mechanic come out to us in a chase boat to fix it. (1-2 hours lost) 2. One of our engines failed next. We had a mechanic come to us for that as well. With the wait for him to come to us plus his work time, we lost at least another couple of hours on the water. (~2 hours lost) 3. Our second engine failed again (right after it was fixed and the mechanic left). We waited for another mechanic the next day. (~2 hours lost) 4. We spent 99% of our time on the lake with one engine. Kris told me the second engine was "only a backup" anyway and that we only lost about 2mph without it. Well, 2mph over 4-5 days of driving is MANY MILES of lake. We would not have considered renting elsewhere up until this point. Very disappointing. read more

I paid a deposit of $300 on October 21 for a patio boat for Sunday the 22nd and ended up paying $600 on Sunday when it should have only been another $300. I called and talked to Tammy who was very nice and told me they would refund $600 Well I noticed only the deposit was refunded and not the extra charge. So I called back on Friday October 27th and spoke to Jenna who was very rude and told me it was a booking fee and it wasn't going to be refunded and when u told her she was wrong I got hung up on and would not answer the phone when I called back to speak to her manager then she picked up the phone and hung up again without even answering and she's in customer service!! The location is a 5, but the Sunday buffet brunch was a disaster. The gravy was a glob, the Olmsted station had flys around the fillings and the eggs Benedict hollandaise sauce was separated. We rented a ski boat for 4 hours on a September weekend. The boat is a little old but worked as expected. We were able to achieve top speeds of 25-30mph. Consumed ~$60 of gas for 4 hours. Definitely recommend 4 hours if you want to explore the lake. They do rent inter tubes, wake boards etc but it's extra $$. Their reservation system tho is a joke. You can't book online or over the phone (unless you are doing a full day rental). You need to arrive at 8 am (opening time), pick a time slot and pay. In our cause we wanted to start at 12 but had to come at 8am and then go back and come again. They also usually don't know the availability of their jet skis or boat unless you show up in person. Sadly disappointing. We rented a house boat for a family reunion. Unfortunately, the boat had been rode hard and put away we a few times too many. It was dilapidated and dangerously mechanically unsound. Just 2 hours out, one of the engines failed and it was like pulling teeth to get it repaired. Then the generator died. The boat was not equipped with even a working can opener and very few pots and pans. There are a number of much better operators on the lake and for the sake of safety it would best to go with a different outfit than Bridge Bay. read more

Visited "The Cookhouse" at Bridge Bay again after many years on the day of the solar eclipse, They were busy! The food was very good, we missed breakfast(till 11) We had a burger, a few club sandwiches and drinks! The mimosas were good, Patron delish and shockingly cheap (6 bucks!!) fries and onion rings hot&crisp... Now, The real reason we went there... Nostalgia... Remembering stopping in annually w our kids as they grew up camping at Shasta... It brought back great memories!! Thanks to our server John we enjoyed revisiting Bridge Bay... and that Bloody Mary is not to be missed... It comes with a slider, asparagus, shrimp and bacon.... read more

Lunch on the lake! It was fantastic for the most part. I had the fish and chips, outstanding! One of our party had the Burrito Salad (I think that was the name) she did not enjoy it at all! So my recommendation is for them to just remove it from the menu and for anyone to not order it. Everything else was grand. We were a party of about 10 all meals came out at the dam time. Again, don't order the Burrito thing at the bottom of the menu. If it was good they would get 5 stars instead of 4. read more

This is after actually we started the 4 hours of rental late because they took longer time for the orientation and to set us up. We had already agreed to doing less than 4 hours at 4 hours price because we could not start earlier for personal reasons, and we got charged on top of that $260.00 for getting two minutes later in at the dock.
