Rented a houseboat from this place for Memorial Day weekend. Let me just say that this may have been the funnest vacation I have ever taken! It had it all! We took the boat exploring, found a great little cove and TORE IT UP all weekend. We also brought a ski boat, and a fishing boat, but the houseboat was the perfect mobile base! Setting sail was easy, then had a minor issue, but a maintenance boat came out and promptly fixed the problem. It turned out to be user error, but none the less, they had us going in about 15 minutes!!! After the weekend we turned the houseboat in. The process was simple and they weren't very difficult about the cleanup! The fuel was also dirt cheap. Reserve a houseboat now!!!! I had an absolutely amazing time!

Found a nice cove and parked it for the weekend

we rented a houseboat for a party of eight people this June . the experience great no haste to get on and get set up. We got there early and someone was at the dock able to help us out quickly. The boat was ready. We rented with them before so the process to get going was very fast, the boat we chose is no frills sleeps 10. same as they have been for more than 20+ years. There are some new ones in their fleet, but the one we received was one we've had when I first started going in the mid 90s, that's not to say that they're bad. They do up keep them pretty well, good value for money overall, and they tend to have the best prices on the lake . The staff while we were there is always very pleasant when getting gas at the dock or bringing the boat back from our trip. It is centrally located on the lake to every arm and is always our go to spot when we need quick convenience store things at the Marina shop. If you can hit the restaurant and sit out on the patio looking over at the Bridge in Lake below the food is good. The beers are also good. We've done it the last two times and very pleased.

The staff was nice! The boat not so great. It wasn't cleaned before we rented it so there was a bottle of which looked like Urine, all kinds of trash in it. I dont' know if there was a rung or something missing from the ladder but even the strongest of people had a terrible time getting back into the boat. There literally was a hole in the front of the boat. Very Worn...however the engine ran so we didn't break down! Lake was great! Water was great!

**Beware of Renting Sea-Doos or Ski Boats from Bridge Bay Marina** Why? Because they don't offer Collision Damage Waivers for you to purchase. Any reputable/legit establishment would offer a CDW as an option when renting Ski Boat or a Jet Ski because (as they know all too well) shit happens out of the water all the time and damage to their equipment is a very common occurrence. They know this - but they are just too damn cheap to hold proper Commercial Insurance coverage that would give you (the customer) the peace of mind to purchase a CDW while on your family vacation renting one of their Jet Skis. Conveniently, they don't tell you this until your there the day of to check in with your family and ready to go out on the water. I did ask them for it at the counter but they said they just don't offer a CDW and that I'd simply lose my deposit ($500) if anything was to happen and I'd have to pay their Insurance Co' deductible. (This turned out to be total BS) So - rather than be the BuzzKill Dad at the rental counter - I went forward with the Jet Ski rental to have some fun - but against my better judgement as I've been boating for many years and know how easy it is to have an issue. Sure enough, during the course of the day we had a small incident where the Jet Ski got too close to our houseboat and we punched a small hole in the side of the Jet Ski. No one got hurt thankfully but they are charging me $2500 to repair this. (see pic) This is on top of the $450 per day to rent their Jet Ski. An expensive day on the water for sure. I wanted to write this review however, so that anyone else out there looking to rent a Ski boat or a Jet Ski from Bridge Bay is informed of this issue and might avoid getting stuck with a huge repair bill. Imho, its just poor business practice on Bridge Bay's part not to offer their customers a CDW as part of the overall cost to rent one of their Jet Skis? Why not? The customer would bear the cost for a temp CDW which would offset their Risk so they can enjoy their vacation. Their not offering a CDW makes me believe they don't really care about customers that rent from them and so I won't be renting from them when I'm back up there in a month on another house boat trip. I'm sure they don't care about losing a customer but at least we can share our experiences online for others to learn from. Thanks Yelp! Btw, the 2023 GTX Pro Sea Doo we rented costs $13K retail - which I'm sure they didn't pay full price for. However the fix here for this damage is $2500? Imagine IF you had a serious accident with the Jet Ski - It would be a complete loss and you'd be on the hook for $13K. I guess then it would make send to go through your Homeowners Ins. Pretty shady of BB not to offer CDW's. In summary - Beware of Renting Sea Doos or Ski Boats from Bridge Bay Marina for this reason - your bearing all the Risk.

The staff were friendly and the entire check in process was easy. For the price, we got an individual tiny cabin with two bedrooms and a bath. It came with a simple kitchen and an awesome patio overlooking the, unfortunately, near empty lake. The staff informed us that the lake had been drained to help fight recent California wildfires, so that made me feel a little bit better. Anyways, the cabin was clean and everything you would need for a nice relaxing stay. My biggest qualm was that the hot water did not work so we were not able to take a shower (unless it was ice water cold). And the Internet did not work - not for browsing or streaming pleasure but simply for cell phone service in such a remote area. All in all, a decent spot to stay in the Shasta Lake area.

So let me take another tack and make sure that this is the place for you. First off, Mountain Meadow Resort isn't for everyone. If you can't be unplugged and off the grid, this place isn't for you. Seriously, there is no wi-fi, your smartphones are only useful as cameras because there is no cell signal, and the generator that provides electricity only runs from 6:30am to 11pm. Bookings typically go from Saturday to Saturday so if the prospect of not being able to check your texts, voicemail, e-mail and social media for a week gives you the heebee jeebees, then this place is not for you. Second, this place is remote. The resort is most definitely in the WILDerness. In the four years that I've gone I've come across black bears and been within spitting distance of a rattle snake, rattle going off, coiling and ready to strike. The nearest medical facility is 2 hours away by car. And that's not counting the fact that you could be half a dozen miles into a hike away from the resort and your parked car when you get injured. If that seems a bit too off the beaten track for you, then this place is not for you. ...Still reading? Then you must be adequately intrigued as to why people go and keep coming back to this wonderful place. And if the you're not scared off then you will likely fall in love with this place as I have. Read on if you want my attempt to add information you might be hoping to gleam from reading these reviews. This is a family run camp. Decades ago a group of families bought the place and ran it together. Their children now run the resort and while you're there you'll likely see the next generation starting to help out as well. Staff all have a direct connection to the resort via family, being visitors in years past themselves when they were younger, or being recruited by one of the first two categories. What that means is that your initial visit feels like you're an interloper at a family reunion, but on repeated trips you begin to feel that you too are part of the family, because you truly are. That sentiment permeates through and is felt not just by my wife and me but by my kids as well. I would love it if my kids worked here when they're older and if I could spend extended time helping out after I retire, whenever that is. Days can be spent on hikes, strenuous or relaxing. Obviously the former will reward you with amazing views. Unlike, say Yosemite, you could do your whole hike and never come across another group. If you do, it certainly will only be a handful. There are lakes to swim in and vistas to take in. The resort is positioned so that you can make a day hike where others will often have to backpack in and out. Sometimes you'll be tempted to backpack yourself and maybe stay over a night or two but what always draws me back is the food - homemade and delicious. Dinners are amazing. Lastly, the kids love it because of the independence and being outdoors. The "kids dinner" before the "adult one" is as much a highlight for the parents as it is the kids. More importantly my tech savvy kids being raised in the heart of Silicon Valley have no qualms with Mountain Meadow being a "screen free" place. And that alone makes our annual trip worth it.

It was roomy, clean, quiet & comfortable. Three of us shared a 2-bedroom cabin. In 2017 I moved to Weed, and started coming to the restaurant at the resort for special lunches and dinners. The wait staff in the dining room is superb. They always make us feel like family. I sat on the outside deck for lunch last summer, but the wait staff out there was not at all the same. Food was slow coming and the everything was cold when it arrived. At my request, the fries were replaced with hot fries, but we had almost finished our lunch by the time they came. This is a major sanitation concern. IF the property thoroughly cleans and sanitizes the kitchenware between stays, this chore is an unnecessary burden on paying guests. If they do not reclean them, then the health and safety of incoming guests relies entirely on the honor system and the cleaning habits of previous occupants. It is incredibly unsettling to think the dishes we used may not have been professionally washed or sanitized. The cabin itself clearly got a "landlord special" French doors were stuck and wouldnt open. Had to call maintenance to get them fixed. The refrigerator and cabinet drawers overlap so tightly that opening the fridge makes the drawers to open, and vice versa. The fridge door is already dented, clearly from this problem. The blinds are old, broken, and don't close all the way. So we had to wake up with the sun every morning, spiderwebs in the ceiling corners throughout the cabin. For the price charged to stay here, guests should at least be guaranteed professional cleanliness. Unfortunately, this property missed the mark on all counts.
