This is a two parter. Day one: lunch at the restaurant. Ordered the gnocchi soup. And small Cobb salad. The recipe should be changed immediately. Gloppy, unappetizing, hidden dumplings. God awful. This out the recipe with some cream or milk. Make it a creamy broth, rather then a cement mixture which will harden if left out over 30 minutes. The Cobb salad was one of the best I have ever had. Even though everyone else ordered the poppy seed, I got the thousand. It was very good. Didn't have a Riesling, ordered a Diet Coke instead. Day two: Happy 90th to my grandma.....In law. Event upstairs with 40 guests. Meal was chicken, rice , poppy seed salad, broccoli garbanzo bean salad, mushroom ravioli and bread (no butter) If the majority of the event will have 90% attendance of 60 years old +, put butter with the rolls ;) it will save the younger folk a headache. Chose the gewürztraminer and it was a perfect addition to my dinner. Both times the staff was sweet. I was happy to see them stop by the grandma in laws table and wish them well and catch up. I came here for a wedding and it had an amazing view. Too bad it was about 105 degrees outside and we had to sit through a one hour + outdoor wedding. By the time we finished, my back was soaked in sweat (I know gross). Throughout the wedding, I had to keep envisioning myself in cooler temperatures to help me mentally adapt to the intense heat. However, the view is spectacular. For the reception, the facility was pretty nice. Again, the indoor area is pretty spacious and strategically faces the river view. I wished the air-condition in the club was stronger so it could combat the intense heat. For brides and grooms looking for a wedding, venue, I'd recommend this location. The only advice I'd give is to plan your wedding not at the height of summer. It gets pretty miserable during June-August (unless you have your entire wedding indoors). read more

I often travel and notice the courses in other cities and they don't hold a candle to Riverview. The restaurants and facilities are great for making memories with families and friends. Hey, Cindy and Mike, you've currently got two beers on tap. Both of 'em are citrus-infused Belgian-style wheat beers. I really wanted a draught beer after our scramble on Tuesday, but last time I checked, I don't have a vajayjay. While I'll admit that wheat beers are appealing when it's 451 degrees Fahrenheit on the golf course, at least make one of 'em a good unfiltered heffeweisen. Carrying essentially the same beer on both taps -- that's just fucked up, sports fans. Especially when one of them is Blue Moon, the fake microbrew swill pissed out by Peter Coors. How about an IPA? In fact, if you could get your hands on a keg of Pliney the Elder (Russian River Brewing Company), I'd be there every evening until it was dry, tipping like Bill Murray.* *Reportedly tips the amount of the check. read more

I've had the privilege to be a member on both my parents account since a young age and in addition getting a job there as well. I think Riverview is a great time to spend time at. They have good food and a great breakfast and awesome service. I can't think of one bad thing about this club, it's like a second home to me. When I'm home I always wish I could just be at the club because it's such a peaceful place for me and of course it has an amazing view. The golf course is awesome as well. They do a great job at maintaing the course's shape and it's a pretty easy course to play. I strongly suggest joining the club if you already haven't. Not the most challenging of courses, but definitely one of the best maintained. They recently hired a new GM, as well as a new pro. Both are the best that I've seen in my 13 years there. Unfortunately, as with most golf courses today, slow play can be an issue but the new pro is doing a very good job of correcting that. If you have the opportunity to play a round at Riverview, take it. Just take a moment to enjoy the view from the first tee. It's the best in Redding. read more

This club has recently done a lot of upgrades, Lobby and restaurant is beautiful, warm ,inviting, and very friendly staff. I have had so many good drinks and meals here, never a disappointment. The restaurant is quick to fix any issues that you have and pleasantly does everything possible to make your meal and time with them well worth it. The new patio area is amazing in the morning for breakfast or at night for drinks. They added a lounge area outside as well with fire pits seating Beautiful view of the river and again, great service outside. We are lucky to have such a great place in Redding read more

I have been a member of Riverview for over 25 years. Buzz F, u r hilarious and I love ur reviews. I will admit that the course can be slow with 5 somes and its still a ol boys club but it does have the best view in Redding of the Sac river. I do yoga on Tue/thur and the views are spectacular. The food is good and the they (Terry) pour a decent and deep drink. Best dirty martinis in town. They just hired a new GM who is really trying to be proacitve and he is very friendly. I still love Fred and Lynette. By the way, the new tennis pro, Jack is simply the best in town and he gives great lessons all week with great kids camps. The club is improving all the time but they REALLY need to get younger members!! My daughters wedding last October was the event of the club (they said that, not me!) The finest Tennis Courts in northern CA newly resurfaced and Jack Thompson is a great Coach. Lovely service and a spectacular view in both the lounge and upstairs dining. Just had another spectacular 5 course meal for Valentines Day, the food is always great. Yes, could add more beers on tap..Stella Artois please! Why anyone would go here is beyond me! It's extremely overpriced but I guess its all one can do in Redding. The staff feels very fake. Like they smile but you can tell they don't want to be there. One lady, Cindy is the worst. She's passive aggressive and she stares at you. I've never felt so uncomfortable at a place that is supposed to be comforting. The greens were in amazing shape soft and held really well. Shoot for the pin. Fairways were in very good shape and the T boxes need a little help. Fee for visitor walking was $45, a little high for walking but not bad. read more

I'm a new member & couldn't be more satisfied with the experience! Actually I didn't expect much, due to the fact that most country club's have a tendency toward being overly ostentatious.
