I always enjoyed taking family and friends to aqua golf, but recently i was there with a family member from out of town. We rented a lane and started hitting our golf balls and drinking our beverages. After about 35 minutes, we were asked to leave along with 3 other groups. The reason was because our lanes were already reserved. I was never told this when I rented the lane and didn't know about the reservation requirement until I checked their website later on. In addition to that, the employee (probably the owner), kept hovering around our lanes and kept telling us we had 5 minutes left, then 1 minute left, and finally, we had to leave! I have never been to a restaurant (even ones with reservations only) where i have been told to finish my meal quickly because the table I'm sitting at is reserved for someone else. I won't return and I will tell my family and friends to find something else to do besides Auqa Golf. Maybe they should have reservations for a portion of the facility or reservations only, or not at all (like it used to be). read more

By far the best and most unique and enjoyable range in town. Mark and his team do a great job welcoming everyone from families to single handicaps. It's fun, comfortable and only getting better - with the new upgrades and improvements already in place and the ones to come - this classic local spot is only getting better. I had a really fun time doing Aqua Golf! I went here with a group of friends and we were able to get two lanes next to each other. Our lanes had tables behind them, where we were able to put our things done and partake in some snacks in between our swings. The views are great and we had fun trying to make our golfball hit different buoys. We stayed after closing but the lady who owes it came out to speak with us. She was so nice and told us how we parents have owned it for years and years before her. read more

Good, cheap, wholesome fun in Redding. Hearing the kurplunk as your golf ball hits water is almost as satisfying as when you aim for a duck or the guy who picks up the balls in a row boat, and actually hit your target. Whoever thought to put a driving range in a river was genius. read more

Some days you need to just slam a golf ball into the water. Aqua Golf understands that. You don't need fancy shoes, or a fancy glove. Hell I don't even think you need your own clubs (I think they might have some you can rent..maybe) because of these reasons there is no excuse not to blow a little steam and pull a happy gilmore. Be careful though DO NOT let go of your club. And there are all levels here. I can remember coming here and completely sucking and being so embarrassed but honestly no one cares. I'm fairly better now and I still miss the ball sometimes- Don't take your eyes off that ball! If I remember correctly it is also pretty darn cheap for a bucket of balls. read more

As driving ranges go, this place is a novelty act -- you hit into a big pool of water on the Sacramento River that was excavated when they needed the gravel to build Shasta Dam long ago. The mats have seen better days. The balls tend to be a bit mossy, and a few in each basket have been chewed on by river otters. The guy who runs the place can be a grump, even though he has the most slack job in Redding. There are a few redeeming qualities: (1) It's very low key. Most of the people who hit here are bad golfers, and if you feel like you're being judged, it'll probably be in a good way. (2) It's fun to try to hit the floating targets with your pitching wedge. (3) When I need my ego stroked, I hit a few over the line of buoys and ropes that marks the "outfield fence" of the range, and the grumpy guy tells my to put my driver back in the bag as people mumble to each other, "Holy shit, did you see that?" (Though I was coming up 10-15 yards short last time I was there -- see "Sucks To Get Old," Chapter 137.) Hitting golf balls on a range, with no intention of playing a round, can be very Zen. Give it a try if you're bored with being "in the moment" while washing your rice bowl or weeding your organic vegetable garden. read more

This place is fun... I mean, you basically pay a few bucks to hit balls into the water, so you can't criticize the service much or rant about the atmosphere of the place. Service is friendly, the price is right, and it's fun to smack those balls into the water! :-) They just stopped allowing people to use drivers (unless you bring your own) this week, which is a bummer, but other than that it's a fun place to go! read more

This is a great place. We go mid week when it's not busy and let our 4 year old play with her own set of clubs. She loves playing with daddy and she's getting pretty good. They are always friendly and flexible with the rules when we're the only customers. It's such a great and fun atmosphere, truly one of a kind.... read more

My son threw one of his brand new golf clubs in the water about 30 feet out. The nice lady that runs the place let the kids jump in the water and try to retrieve it. After many failed attempts she took the little boat out and tried to help us. We never ended up finding it but I'm really appreciative for all the efforts of the lady that worked their. Yes, the golf ball vending machine was empty. That is a complete fail. Ended up coming back an hour later and they had some. 2. The price.
