However, the bed was picked up today by a young man names Stephan. Not sure that's the right spelling, but I believe thats how it was pronounced. Somehow the infrastructure at Apria is overwhelming, but the human side and interaction is the most important piece. This young man was respectful, kind and warm. He was professional and put such a great foot forward for Apria. It was a five star service experience. From the moment he knocked on the door and told us who he was, you could tell this was a company that valued us as customers. I encourage you to hold on to this young man and use him as an example for others. Apria is redeemed!!

My husband has gotten excellent care overall. He is understood and has been kept safe, clean, and satisfied. I respect the staff, and they show respect for my husband and me. The atmosphere is family-friendly. They are open to suggestions - I have a 40+ professional nursing career:) I am grateful for the individualized approach and the quick response to any changes they notice, so I can take action and get the care needed. The small population at 5 Acers means nothing goes unnoticed for long. This unique environment is a true blessing for our family.

If you have ever had to go through the process of finding suitable care for a loved one then you already know what a nightmare that can be. Their are facility owners who highly exaggerate their level of care, unqualified staff and unsuitable living conditions not to mention abuse. After several disastrous and dangerous attempts at placements for my Great Aunt and Mother, God blessed our family with Genesis Care Home for The Elderly in Vallejo. My Great Aunt was in her late 90's and my Mother suffered from Vascular Dementia. We had removed them from an unsuitable care facility and moved them right into Genesis Care Home after just one meeting with Sharon, the owner. After what my Mom and Aunt had been through, I was very direct in telling Sharon what level of care we were looking for and Sharon was equally honest and forthcoming about the level of care she provided and her philosophy on the care for the elderly. Let me start with the word Compassion. No matter how disoriented, difficult or delusional my mother or aunt became, the entire staff always remained compassionate, respectful and loving. The staff came into their rooms with a smile and spent many hours just laughing and talking with them. They took the time to ask them questions about their lives and treated them like family. My Mom even gave them each nicknames. We are a very large family who would drop by all the time unannounced and always Mom and Auntie were clean, bathed and very well fed. The food that was prepared for them was spectacular....and I'm a retired Caterer! Anytime of the day, the residents can help themselves to snacks or fresh fruit. During the Holidays and their birthdays the spread they put out is unbelievable and all family members are not only welcomed but encouraged to stay and join in. Genesis actually took the time to find out what my Moms favorite foods and T.V. programs were and made sure both were provided. The staff regularly took the time to call and express their concerns over medications, behavioral changes or their general happiness and comfort so as a team, we could make whatever adjustments were necessary to make their daily lives better. Both my Aunt and Mom have passed now, but I will continue to stop by for a visit to Genesis Care Home, to visit this very special place, and this group of phenomenal ladies. The social worker Ernestine is reportedly investigating my sister for trips to the grocery store. My dad is able to get himself in his wheelchair to go tot he bathroom or get a snack out of the refrigerator. Most of the time he is happy resting in bed. The one time he fell my sister was at home. He didn't realize his legs would simply give out under him. Hence the wheelchair now. It seems like spite investigating my sister and it's causing stress for my father. The whole thing could have been prevented but she seems to want to have a p----ing match with my sister. So unprofessional So now my dad is trying to find another option through his primary physician. Not what he needs to be doing. He should be peacefully resting right now! They can't just offer peaceful resolutions?? So disappointing The nurses are wonderful. But Ernestine has been hassling my sister from the beginning. About 6 weeks ago.

I've never met anyone so confused before. Confused about everything I said from my medical needs to where to park at my house. Management is poor and discrimination is a thing. I stayed with my mom 24/7 and some of the staff were cruel with me while others were angels. My mom's mobility required 2 persons which I was one of them doing it with complete love. However, I was mistreated by management through passive aggression including verbal insults. The center refused to allow my mom additional days of therapy because the nurse director "did not like me and my sick mom".
