The price for my room was great tonight... & I would stay here again except for the fact that they have no fruit at their continental breakfast. They also have lots of unhealthy bread products such as bagels, toast, waffles , and biscuits. Other food choices like gravy fake eggs, sausage links and sausage patties. But no fruit???. We are in Oregon for heck's sake! There were two really overweight parents feeding their five kids probably all under the age of 7. Their plates were all loaded with biscuits and gravy and all of this unhealthy food. And they were enforcing that they all finish their plates. It made me sick. I appreciate having a continental breakfast but the choices were just yuck. We need some live food ...fruit please?

We stayed in 113. The room was quiet, The closet had no doors or curtains. It is very dark on that side of the room & no light in that area. The remote was filthy. The bathtub had mold on the edges. I pulled the sheets down & there were little black flecks of something & a few dried yellowish things that looked like rice. We went to the office & got a fresh set of sheets. Gross!

Pretty good choice for a small town at the edge of the Journey Thru Time. This is our second stay here. Pet friendly for small and medium dogs, pet lawn, safe parking, and yes there are 2 bars of soap, a shower cap, bathmat, shampoo, hairdryer, coffee pot, iron and iron board, free wifi HBO, quiet rooms, free breakfast, downgrade for lumpy pillows, older tv, and small bed. They charge $15 for a dog and cats are not welcome. I'd say that for a small town its a good roadside place to rest on a long trip through! And close to 2 major grocery stores, banks, gas, fast food and close enough to tour this pleasant historic Oregon Trail town! If you are here in December don't miss the Christmas Parade but dress warmly!

We rolled in after a full Gorge run Multnomah Falls, Bridge of the Gods, past The Dalles Dam and John Day Dam already feeling like we were chasing something. And we were. Enter the crew: my Ghostbuster-style buddy with all the blinking gear, a slick all-black BMW mystery man, and us two curious "innocents" with a couple drinks and bad ideas. Room? Gorgeous. Massive ceilings. Old-school class. Vibe? ...different after dark. You hear it first. The creaks. Then you feel it. Like you're not alone. Lights off, shadows moving different. And that little detector? It didn't just blink it lit up. I didn't show up believing in ghosts. But I left thinking... something's there. Stay at the Geiser Grand Hotel for the history. Stay a little longer if you want the mystery. Next time I'm sleeping with the lights on.

I've worked in luxury and convention hotels. Some guests see their stay at a hotel as a call to…read morecombat. That is not my intention here. I do feel that with a few adjustments, this hotel would be a success on every level. The hotel fails on making a good first impression when it should dazzle. You walk in and immediately are greeted by a stanchion with a velvet hooked rope preventing entry. We had called ahead and paid for an early check-in. A staff member approached us from behind the desk and stood behind the barrier. I asked if were using the wrong entry. She was a very nice young lady, but clearly hotel policy made her feel awkward. We likewise felt awkward. She explained that there would be an early check-in fee, but would have to look and see if a room was available. The barrier was reluctantly removed. There is another barrier blocking the ADA ramp. That remained hooked for the entirety of our stay. I was accompanied by my elderly mother and our three legged dog, recently recovering from her surgery. We got the early room. The hotel was besides us empty. It was silent. It was one of those spaces where you hear your voice being louder than normal because it has to assert itself over just how loud the silence is. After check-in, we were informed that the elevator was broken. We were assigned a room on the third floor. It is not an easy feat for a three legged animal to climb three stories. We were able to accomplish this. The staircase, while beautiful, is dimly lit and lacking an adequate handrail. My mother had recently suffered a fall at home and was scared of going up and down the stairs. The maintenance person, who was very nice, told us that they expected the elevator would be fixed within 10 minutes. I took our dog for a short walk. I went downstairs to talk to a new front desk person. They were also very nice. I explained that we needed the elevator operational if we were going to stay the night. A man appearing to be a manager of some sort appeared and discussed the issue with the front desk person while I sat close by. The front desk person indicated that I was the person inquiring about my options. Perhaps this person was having a bad day. They never introduced or identified themselves. They did not make eye contact. They gave off an air of arrogance and dismissiveness, completely inappropriate for both the situation and the grandeur of the property. They did not respond to my description of my mother's fears about the staircase. This person told me that the elevator would be fixed within an hour. They also said that they chose to repair the elevator before their check-in time of 4. He said with a side-eye, "But you chose to arrive before the 4 o'clock check-in time...." We paid extra money to check in early. Having been a GM myself, I can say fairly and objectively that this person is in need of extensive training on how to interact with guests. I promise that I was never unpleasant with anyone on the property, including this person. Here is where things got (a lot) better. Ginger called our room as soon as I returned to it and told me that they did not expect the elevator to be fixed that evening. She was kind and expressed concern about the situation before offering the best solution available. This is how you recover from a bad guest experience. It is not the hotel's fault that the elevator was broken. Ginger did not make promises that she could not keep. She offered to move us from the third floor to the second floor in the same room type. She removed our early check-in fee. She also sent up a pair of individuals to assist us with the luggage. Thank you, Ginger!

There was no shampoo in our room and the phone didn't work to call the front desk for more. The drunk man stumbling in the hall knocking on different doors with a cigarette in his hand did not make me feel confident in where we were staying. Jackie at the front desk was very kind when we checked in. Breakfast was busy and had some options but there was no water and was pure chaos with the amount of kids running around. It didn't seem like there were many mid range hotels in the area. It might be worth paying more to have a little nicer of a spot. For reference we paid 140 for a Friday night and won't be staying here again.

The atmosphere of the whole property is just wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, the spaces are welcoming, and everything feels thoughtfully cared for. Whether you're dining, visiting, or staying, there's a sense of comfort and ease that makes you want to linger a little longer. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the people. The owner and staff go above and beyond to take care of you, and they do it in such a warm, friendly way that feels more like being welcomed by family than just being a guest. It genuinely feels like a place where people care. It's rare to find a place that gets everything right--food, atmosphere, and service--but this is one of them. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. A heartfelt thank you to the owner and the entire team--you are truly amazing and so appreciated.

For the price this was a good room and it was quiet where we were on the 2nd floor. In the morning there was a bunch of little birds singing..maybe some of their nests are in a nearby tree. It was a cheery sound. My one complaint is that the soap (2 "bars") are comically sized like postage stamps. (They fall apart as soon as water hits them and don't provide enough soap for a complete shower). Aside from this, we liked the room and would stay there again (but perhaps bring our own soap)?

Receptionist was very pleasant and personable. Very nice start. Couldn't get a ground floor room being I'm disabled and had no reservation ,but dragged my saggy arse upstairs with the wife in tow. Nice room, a bit aged, but clean, couldn't get the tv to work, (boomer brain fog) but not a big deal anyhow. The internet was good, that worked fine. Water pressure and temperature was great. Coffeemaker was broken, but worked. Had a small microwave and fridge. Heater worked great being it was very very cold outside, glad for that. Bed was clean and comfy. Another plus, slept great. Beautiful location with a view of the Wallowa mountains In the distance, very friendly people here, went to the restaurant called the " truck corral" about 65 yards away. Had a good decent breakfast, good food, huge portions. Very nice waitress and staff all around. Decent hotel. It's not the Taj mahal but very suitable, it's old but had some excellent tile work which I though was great in the bathroom, see pic. Was about in my price range which is low budget since I travel quite frequently. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 80.00 bucks. Would come back again is the key point...yes I would, and will. Thank you El Dorado.
