    Reeked of mold
    Terri M.

Driving along the freeway there aren't many places to stop. We had huge issues the previous night finding a place to stay and no hotels had any rooms along the coast because everyone was flocking to the beach since inland was 112 degrees, yuck. So we figured we better book a room ahead of time. I called the number and booked the room. Heads up they try about 5 times to get you to sign up for their hotel rewards and "get deals". I kept telling them I don't want any deals, I want to book a room and thats it. So I booked the room, got to the hotel. There isn't much for food around the area so best bet is to head to Safeway or Albertsons and grab food. My room had a microwave and a mini fridge. I mainly booked here because I needed a fridge that had a mini freezer. So the freezer was mostly frozen over. I could only fit 3 water bottles in the freezer shoved in, so that was disappointing. In the front the 1st floor has doors that open to the outside. But towards the end they are on the inside. Would have been sooo much easier to get in and our if all of the doors were outside, especially for people who are handicapped. The shower reeked of mold and the pool was closed. Someone had left an alarm on all night long which was pretty annoying. There was no "do not disturb sign" so the housekeeping came knocking about 9 am and again about a half an hour later. Check out isn't until 11am, so maybe they should check with the front desk to see if someone has checked out instead of continuing to come knock on their door and trying to get in the room waking them up. When we did go outside the room the cleaning lady had a scowl on her face like she hated her job and just gave me a dirty look. If you dont like you job, than find something else.

    Super secure door latches

I really don't like to leave negative reviews but this place was an absolute letdown. Run down and unkept. My family of 6 was there for 2 days. No housekeeping in between the days. The door latches inside the rooms are not even properly attached to the walls. Sooooo expensive for a motel! Will not stay here again

There was no shampoo in our room and the phone didn't work to call the front desk for more. The drunk man stumbling in the hall knocking on different doors with a cigarette in his hand did not make me feel confident in where we were staying. Jackie at the front desk was very kind when we checked in. Breakfast was busy and had some options but there was no water and was pure chaos with the amount of kids running around. It didn't seem like there were many mid range hotels in the area. It might be worth paying more to have a little nicer of a spot. For reference we paid 140 for a Friday night and won't be staying here again.

The atmosphere of the whole property is just wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, the spaces are welcoming, and everything feels thoughtfully cared for. Whether you're dining, visiting, or staying, there's a sense of comfort and ease that makes you want to linger a little longer. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the people. The owner and staff go above and beyond to take care of you, and they do it in such a warm, friendly way that feels more like being welcomed by family than just being a guest. It genuinely feels like a place where people care. It's rare to find a place that gets everything right--food, atmosphere, and service--but this is one of them. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. A heartfelt thank you to the owner and the entire team--you are truly amazing and so appreciated.

For the price this was a good room and it was quiet where we were on the 2nd floor. In the morning there was a bunch of little birds singing..maybe some of their nests are in a nearby tree. It was a cheery sound. My one complaint is that the soap (2 "bars") are comically sized like postage stamps. (They fall apart as soon as water hits them and don't provide enough soap for a complete shower). Aside from this, we liked the room and would stay there again (but perhaps bring our own soap)?

Receptionist was very pleasant and personable. Very nice start. Couldn't get a ground floor room being I'm disabled and had no reservation ,but dragged my saggy arse upstairs with the wife in tow. Nice room, a bit aged, but clean, couldn't get the tv to work, (boomer brain fog) but not a big deal anyhow. The internet was good, that worked fine. Water pressure and temperature was great. Coffeemaker was broken, but worked. Had a small microwave and fridge. Heater worked great being it was very very cold outside, glad for that. Bed was clean and comfy. Another plus, slept great. Beautiful location with a view of the Wallowa mountains In the distance, very friendly people here, went to the restaurant called the " truck corral" about 65 yards away. Had a good decent breakfast, good food, huge portions. Very nice waitress and staff all around. Decent hotel. It's not the Taj mahal but very suitable, it's old but had some excellent tile work which I though was great in the bathroom, see pic. Was about in my price range which is low budget since I travel quite frequently. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 80.00 bucks. Would come back again is the key point...yes I would, and will. Thank you El Dorado.

Yeah, they're super nice! 2) Quality: the rooms are always clean & include a microwave, fridge, dresser, table, couch, all the basics are there, and if you need more, just ask! 3) Price: has always been the same or cheaper than all the other places I called. Whenever I'm stopping in Baker (usually 1-2x/year), this is the place I like...oh yeah, and like the others mentioned, the view of the city and surrounding landscape is beautiful!

Oh well, at least the stay was nice. And it snowed while we were there. And our school (Mapleton) won 3rd place which isn't that bad considering how many teams played in the tournament.

We were almost exactly in the middle of our trip and we were in a tough spot knowing exactly how to proceed. We needed a place to stay, a place to tow our broke down vehicle to, a place that was affordable, and nothing more to worry about for the evening! From the moment we called Baker City Motel & RV, (at about 9:30pm) we were greeted with a friendly tone and a helpful hands! What a nice surprise it was to find that it was also clean, tidy, and well-kept all around! The rooms were comfortable and supplied all our needs and ahhhh, the air conditioning! Thank goodness for the air conditioning! The family that runs this motel were courteous and professional as business managers but more importantly treated us as if they cared about us like family! The older gentleman even offered to take my brother to a local junk yard to look for whatever part we might have needed, this after spending considerable time making phone calls and trying to help us problem solve! Their grandson checked in on us often and spent much time online trying to help us find solutions too! When our help came, they were running late, so the managers asked the cleaning lady to work around our room so we could stay longer in our rooms which was helpful for the restroom access, t.v., wifi for our bored kids, and to stay out of the heat! All-in-all our major "bump in the road" could have been much worse without the kindness and above and beyond customer service afforded us at the Baker City Motel & RV! Thanks for the hospitality!
