I've been here a couple times and have always been impressed: 1) Service: Richard and his family own this motel (locally owned & the newest in Baker) and know all the best places to get food, things to do, etc. - after I asked where to get some breakfast, without even asking him to, he busted out a map & marked the location of 4 of the top restaurants in town based on what food I like! Yeah, they're super nice! 2) Quality: the rooms are always clean & include a microwave, fridge, dresser, table, couch, all the basics are there, and if you need more, just ask! 3) Price: has always been the same or cheaper than all the other places I called. Whenever I'm stopping in Baker (usually 1-2x/year), this is the place I like...oh yeah, and like the others mentioned, the view of the city and surrounding landscape is beautiful! read more

Stayed here in 2006 during the state tournament when I was on the girls Varsity basketball team in High school. It was both the girls team and the boys team staying in the same hotel and we thought it was just going to be us (Mapleton High School Sailors/Lady Sailors Basketball teams) staying at this hotel but, we we were in for an awkward surprise when our school rivals from Mckenzie High School booked some rooms for their teams as well. Oh well, at least the stay was nice. And it snowed while we were there. And our school (Mapleton) won 3rd place which isn't that bad considering how many teams played in the tournament. read more

I stay here frequently because it is easy to reach from the Interstate but set back enough so you don't hear it. The owner is friendly and helpful. On one trip through Oregon, I wanted to make sure that I stayed at a motel where I could watch my favorite college football team play. I called ahead to make sure they had the channel on their cable TV. The daughter of the owner not only checked their channel line up, but checked on what time the game would be broadcast (I didn't even request that). Now THAT'S service! The prices are very reasonable. We paid $55 for a queen bed and a sofa (sleeper), desk, nice views of the mountains where rooms are clean and well outfitted with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. read more

Let's call this place what it is.... It's a motel 6. HOWEVER, it was very clean, quiet, and safe. The girl who checked us in was very helpful and competent. The hotel is right off the highway and perfect for a road trip layover. The only cons are that they don't have anything more than coffee for breakfast and only stairs to the upstairs... After a very long car ride from Blaine Washington, this place is nice. It is exactly what it is....a roadside motel very convenient, clean, slight traffic noise. The man at front desk was professional, courteous and fast. He also gave us a recommendation for great beer and steak dinner. The king size bed feels nice. Watch your back if you stay here... We were staying during the motorcycle rally, and knew rooms would fill up, so we booked 6 months in advanced. We booked at $139 per night, which is ridiculous for a Motel 6, but we understood because the event in town. When we got there, I asked "what's the rate?" she said $179 per night. NO, we have a confirmation saying it was $139. First, she tried to blame Expedia by saying "they changed the rate and there is nothing I can do". Well, that wasn't true. She was able to cancel our reservation and re-book the room honoring the original price. Then she said, "I don't have control of the pricing, only the bosses do". That told me it wasn't Expedia, it was the owners jacking up the rates, hoping people would either not notice, or just pay it because there were no other rooms available in town that weekend. Another guest behind me was listening to the whole conversation, and so he asked. Same thing... He booked at $139, they raised the rates on him to $179 also. As for the hotel, it was ok. The facilities were clean and comfortable. Basic hotel, ok for the standard price. Not worth $139 per night, but it is what it is. read more

First, they charged us an extra five dollars for a second adult in the room. Same amount of beds, just an upcharge for 2 adults vs. one. Second, the man at the front desk gave us a room that he had already sold to someone else. People travel with thousands of dollars of electronics these days, you can't do that. Third, the front desk guy didn't understand why it was a big deal to have two parties with an active key to the same room. That seems like hotel 101 to me. Someone need to change the name on Yelp, since this is in fact a Motel 6. I stayed here two nights and I must say I absolutely loved it. For the price, you cannot beat it. Don't let the retro exterior fool you, this is a very clean, very quiet motel. In fact, I loved the retro aspect. The room was huge and comfortable. It's a good ways off from I-84 so very quiet at night. Yet, you can drive into downtown in less than 5 minutes. Everything was clean and in good working order. Fridge, microwave, hot water, bed, wifi, sofa. The family who runs it are very kind and sweet, ready to help. I would definitely recommend this Motel 6. read more

Clean. Big. Great view to the west of the Elkhorn Ridge and Blue Mountains and all of Baker City for that matter. Internet fast. Richard a grand host/owner/operator. Cat the cat pleasant and Maggie the dog playful. This place has quality and charm. The rates are affordable and flexible depending on your circumstances. There is some freeway noise, but you would get that at any place located conveniently off the main transportation corridor. The rest of the place is super quiet. Wander the grounds to find cliff swallows in the local hillside. There are also fossil studies being conducted in this hillside by local academic groups. read more

I stayed here 12/30-12/31, on my way back from Utah.. when I called I spoke with Nancy. She was very rude when she was answering my questions. It wasn't until after she asked me if I was a local that she started being nice.. My family & I knew a storm was coming, so my boyfriend & I decided to get a room at the All Welcome Inn, while the others thought they would just hang out for a little & then try to continue on through the pass. However plans changed when the storm hit & we all ended up staying in 1 room. Well the next morning at the checkout time, we were literally 5 minutes passed 11 am, gathering our things to walk out when a shorter/average height man with glasses knocked on the door & yelled we have 5 minutes to leave before he called authorities. When he was asked why, he yelled back, "because you have too many people in your room!" - Understandable, but as a business or an employee it is your responsibility to enforce the rules & policies. It was so nice to stay at a motel where the owner actually cared about the place and worked there unlike some Asia Minor owned motels. The motel is clean, roomy, and reasonably priced. What more could you want? The internet actually works and so does the heater/air conditioner. read more

The staff was friendly, but the physical infrastructure is far below average for a Motel 6 franchise. The wifi internet did not function at all during my stay (signal was active, but no data transmitted via any device), even though the Motel 6 website and lobby sign listed wifi internet as a feature of this location. Other travelers should verify that internet here is working before booking anything, and/or stay at a different motel in Baker City. There appeared to be many newer motels that were also closer to the commercial district. read more

Googled this place on our move/drive from AZ to WA. Had great reviews, and showed PET friendly...not so much. The owner flipped out because one of our dogs was what he thought was a pit bull! I feel bad that a child was killed by a dog, however people need to realize it's not a breed issue it's how any dog is raised. Ignorance is bliss, my dog #1 was not a pitbull but I was not going to argue...then he charged us for a room we didn't even walk into. My husband and I were driving through from Utah to Seattle and saw good reviews for this place and it was like 2 in the morning and we were planning on having an early start the next day. I went there because a lot of the reviews boasted on how it was cheap and clean. So when we got there it has a doorbell to ring if the door was locked. So I rang it, and I asked if there were any rooms left and he said there was and that it would be 100 dollars!!!! I was tired and desperate for a place, otherwise I don't think I would've stayed there. That might be a good deal and I'm just too much of a cheap skate that I think that's a lot. But I was thinking it would be maybe around 70-80 range? It was clean, but I felt like he gave me a steep price because he knew I was tired and desperate for a room. So if that's a good deal to you then stay there, otherwise go to the other ones around. read more

Can't complain for $60 but there was no coffee maker or iron/ironing board in the room. Get an upstairs room because all noise from above comes through if you're on the main floor. I think a trucker was above me who paced very hard all night. Otherwise very clean and surprisingly comfortable beds! Just not a lot of amenities. read more

We stayed here and absolutely loved it. It is peaceful and quiet ( you can see I-84 but the rooms are so well built it's very quiet), super clean, and spacious. Since the motel sits up on a hill, there is a wonderful view of the Elkhorns and a big open field across the street with deer and fox. Behind is a bank with Bank Swallows nesting and a kingfisher. They have just built a cool little miniature golf course and are building a big gazebo beside it. The hosts/owners are really nice and very helpful. I highly recommend the Always Welcome! I first stopped at the Best Western and thank goodness it was full except for one room that went for almost 300.00 per night and the woman at the counter was pretty dismissive when I approached the desk. I had been riding the motorcycle for a very long time that day, in the nasty heat and 65 miles per hour that is Eastern Oregon and just needed a break and bed. I got on my AAA app and found Always Welcome just up the street. I was greeted on the phone by a very friendly man who said come on over. So I jumped back on the bike and rode up the street to Always Welcome. What a treat!! Very clean. Very comfortable. Good company for coffee in the morning. A sweet dog that just wants you to throw the ball. Motorcycle friendly and so very affordable. I also got good information on my route that took me across on highway 20 to Hailey, Idaho. It was a beautiful ride and much shorter than my original route. Thank you so much! read more
