Bridge Street Market is a fancy Meijer, basically! It is Meijer's attempt at appealing to the people who want organic strawberries, multiple options of coconut water and $10 almond butter. I can dig it, though, because sometimes I am that person. But also, sometimes I am not that person, and I'm especially not that person when I just want to find a fully stocked aisle of children's medicine (Tylenol in bubble gum flavor, in fact) at a good price. Thankfully, Bridge Street Market is a little bougie, but not so bougie that it loses its Midwest Meijer roots. Anyway, I picked up my children's Tylenol, but I also stopped by the wine section before I checked out. Bridge Street Market has a large and fun wine area. I say fun because they take the time to label some of the wines on display with tasting notes and other descriptors. I was in the Italian section, so I picked up a bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, just based on how it was displayed on the shelf. The merchandising people at Bridge Street are doing a good job -- they made me pick up wine on a whim! (Which, to be honest, isn't that difficult, but still.) The atmosphere is great. The location is great. What they have to offer is great: a mix of grocery and Meijer staples with more higher-end products. However, with the elevated ambiance and prices, (due to a lack of discounts you at a Meijer) one would expect exceptional service. The service isn't bad. It would just make sense for the service and staff to match what you'd expect from a store like Forest Hills Foods or the Ada Market. Just want to comment about the wall of liquor they have near the entrance. Never seen this type of shelves before in any type of grocery store. Each bottles are shinning under the overhead spotlight and telling you to buy them. VERY cool Bridge Street addition/outlet. We simply wandered into the Market after another (closeby) bar was getting too loud, we had a "few" more drinks in us, and wanted to continue chatting/catching up. The Market is cleanly laid out and all sections/aisles are labeled well. They do a good job of mixing high end groceries with bodega style snacks/chips. We picked out a bottle of bubbly, some sushi, and ordered a steak sandwich. The sandwich artist's recommendations ALL hit and we enjoyed the hell out of our steak sandwich. Most of all, we loved that the table/dining area was a little quieter and we could spend some more quality time together while continuing eating and drinking. Yes, we're officially old now. Perfect place to shop when I'm downtown and don't have time to go to a normal Meijer. Love the vibe here and employees are always so nice. I appreciate that they encourage you to use reusable bags versus having endless amounts of cheap plastic bags. At night, I've noticed security in the parking area which is highly appreciated due to homeless walking around and begging when we leave the store. It's nice to feel safe when you're just grabbing groceries. Sometimes the food options and other stuff is limited since this is not a normal Meijer. But totally okay with that and love all the other items here that normal Meijer doesn't have too. Cute and convenient and way better than you'd think. read more

We have been coming to the Bridge St market for some years now and I realized I have not reviewed them yet. The location is great, you can use your mperks at checkout, it's got a good amount of fresh produce and vegan GF products that I love! (They got great vegan cheeses and ice creams!) As a bonus they have a free parking garage and have an assortment of plants, floral bouquets, local MI products, and Ferris café with Rise bakery products and even sushi! I got some sushi from Bridge street - they typically range from $9-14, but if you get lucky, sometimes they have them for $4.99! I got the spicy California roll, and it was pretty good! Great local grocery market! Service is always kind and quick. I visit frequently and it never disappoints

First off, their floral selection is BEYOND amazing! They have such a range from custom made bouquets and arrangements to bunches for just $5! There is a range for any and everyone! They are fresh and locally sourced - and often located throughout the store. Also a range of balloons and vases at various prices. Second, the staff is VERY friendly and more than willing to help you find anything you're looking for - you can even ask a vender to help point you in the right direction! Third, they are VERY MUCH sourced by local venders, particularly in their gift center (located on the street side of the store) AND in their bakery center. AND YES, they are a meijer brand but they are majority locally sourced and NOT like the "box stores". AND THEY DO TAKE MPERKS AND MEIJER GIFT CARDS! 10/10 would suggest them for their floral and wine selection. Also the new deli and new cafe in place as of 2024. The only downside is if you forget your reusable bag, you have to be 10cents but for a really nice bag - I use them for a beach bag though. Also, you can always ask for a box, venders usually don't mine sharing their boxes! I also wouldn't suggest the bottle return there, only because it's quite busy because they are a smaller local store. Overall, love the store and staff! read more

Visiting Grand Rapids from Washington, D.C., a metro area of 7 million people, Bridge Street Market makes me feel at home. There isn't a spacious open parking lot. Instead, you park in a parking garage. Ah, the sweet smell of an urban grocery store. Park, pass a bright mural, and enter into a large grocery store with high ceilings, brick and exposed pipes. It has a city feel. There's a large beer/wine section, fresh produce and a focus on local goods. They also have a coffee counter, a sushi counter and other places for grab-n-go food catering to someone on the go. It's not obvious in the branding, but Meijer, a large Michigan-based grocery store chain, owns Bridge Street Market. It's an innovative approach to reach urbanites. It feels like a novelty in Grand Rapids. There's definitely a need for it as Grand Rapids continues to grow. read more

In addition to having all the staples of your normal grocery store they have a vast array of international foods and local offerings. The store is laid out well and is clean and easy to shop. From sushi to soap I can find anything I need here and usually more. They have also taken to step to be more environmentally friendly by eliminating plastic bags. read more

FYI: This is just a fancy Meijer. I liked shopping at the Bridge Street Market, but I went in totally unaware that it's just a Meijer with some more specialty selection that charges you for bags. The concept is kind of cool if you want to grab some coffee or lunch and pick up a few groceries. And I especially liked looking through the non-alcoholic drink section of the cooler, and the stand for local bakery items. I found some cool things! I'm from out of town but this is just as good (if not better) than some chain grocery stores. I like to support local when I can, even when "local" isn't me being a local. They have a vegan section, local and name brand products (ex: JIF peanut butter and then one made in Grand Rapids, among others), a good already-prepared food section, pre-made sushi, a little coffee/deli area (was closed when I went at 6:30pm on a Tuesday). The wine selection looked extensive. I just saw a whole wall of it. It looked like there was only self check outs available but I did see people who worked there roaming between the aisles to help. Finally we have a quality option for downtown groceries at a reasonable price! They offer everything you'd need to survive while living downtown. Tons of fresh produce, sushi, toiletries, frozen food, pet food, and more. The self checkout had some hiccups the first few days after opening but my latest visit was much smoother. The alcohol selection is massive and they offer countless local beers. The attached parking garage has had the gates open since the grand opening but I believe it'll eventually be validated parking once the apartments finish. read more

My go-to neighborhood market :) I LOVE Bridge Street! So glad it opened up along Michigan for everyone. Otherwise the nearest markets are Meijer and Target, etc. and they're so far out (10+ minute drives). Going to Bridge Street is a short, quick FREE bus ride along the 19. Bridge Street is apparently owned by Meijer (you can find Meijer brand products here). Overall the prices are reasonable but some items are slightly more expensive. Inside they have all your basics - vegetables, fruits, meats, frozen foods, snacks, etc. They even have a large variety of fresh, ready-to-eat foods! Mayan Cafe and Sushi is inside too. Mayan Buzz Cafe has a quaint area of tables and chairs with fast WIFI to get some work done while you shop, haha! I highly recommend the Mayan Mocha, it's spiced up and slightly caliente! Wednesday is $5 Sushi for cheap eats. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I appreciate the self-check out stands; there are NO cashiers! FREE parking in the structure behind the building. All self check out isles but an attendant is there if needed. Recommend bringing your own bags if you can. I did have to ask for help once from the attendant and he was extremely nice and helpful. SO many fresh food options and very nicely laid out. That said, they carry all the usual suspects that you'd need/want otherwise throughout the rest of the store. I LOVE the local stuff that offered. There are tons of local MI products that line the end shelves and even in places like the treat/floral department there are local vendors selling items. Bridge Street Market is a new Meijer concept store located on the busy West side. This is an awesome option for people who live or work in the area as it's a pretty large store with a really great selection. I stopped in to check it out and ended up buying quite a few things that were unique or difficult to find other places. The produce section is huge and I saw items that I don't think I've seen very often at other grocery stores like aloe leaves, tindora, horseradish root, etc. Everything was displayed really nicely and the store feels super bright and clean. There is a clear focus on locally made products, which is really cool. I found one of my favorite local snacks there which I've only ever gotten at Martha's Vineyard, so that may say something about the quality of the products at Bridge Street Market. I also saw a lot of specialty products like gluten free items and some other fancy things you'd find at Martha's (lots of different kinds of fermented foods, meat alternatives, tons of artisan ice cream, etc.) There is a nice little lounge area in the front of the store where you could catch up with a friend over a cup of coffee. Everyone working seemed pretty friendly and I was able to find what I was looking for. If I lived on this side of town I would definitely come here often. The only negative I saw was the self-checkout area was a little confusing as there is one section that has a clearly defined aisle for waiting in line, but the other section of self checkouts is kind of sporadically arranged, seemingly without any direction for people waiting in line. read more

Having a outdoor bottle return area at a store in Michigan where it gets very cold shows how much they care about their customers and it also shows the intelligence of the people who designed the store layout. Well we're not going to have tourists hit this place so I'll try and give a rundown. They have about 9 full aisles beyond the produce/bakery section. There is a huge emphasis on local companies, which I love. They also have a larger-than-normal pre-prepped meal section. No meat/deli/hot food counter. Some of the staples are actually less expensive than your normal grocery. No they don't take M Perks. Self checkout is divided into small and large orders. Parking garage will start to charge after the first 60 mins. They only have the awesome smaller carts so you're not bumper-carting with other patrons. Bottle return is outside. Huge wine selection and a liquor counter. I'm very excited about this place. read more

Five full, shining, well-earned stars! This store is an incredible blessing to the West Side of Grand Rapids, which is gentrifying in jumps and starts-- Down the street in any direction are high-end eateries that could be in Chicago next to dive bars that are edgy and retro without irony. The personnel at Bridge Street are among the friendliest, downright coolest anywhere in Michigan. Yes, it's all self checkout, but anyone needing assistance will be helped pronto. Yes, the store is a pioneer in not providing single use plastic bags. The prices are astonishingly reasonable for such an upscale grocery: basically about the same as Meijer hypermarkets without sale prices, and some items are priced higher -- but amazingly some items are actually priced lower. Not to mention the obvious luxury of an ever-changing array of products you would not find at a regular Meijer store! It is a blessing in particular for those of us who live within walking distance-- Sure, I still have occasion to drive across town to Horrocks and Forest Hills and Trader Joe's (and ALDI). But unlike those first two other places especially? Bridge Street has a human face. read more

Thank HEAVENS for this amazing addition to the west side!!!! Bridge Street Market was much needed in the downtown area in general. Before Bridge Street Market I was driving 20 minutes in any direction to get to a grocery store. Now Bridge street is a 4 minute drive and in my favorite part of town. Before I say everything else I want to point out that the first floor of their parking structure is FREE to their customers....the lowest rating of bridge street market says there is none and they are just wrong. Lets start with the downside: The aisles are pretty narrow so its a bit more difficult to scoot by if there is someone else shopping that aisle. Also, the only option you have is self checkout. This is not a huge deal to me, but its sometimes nice to give the work of scanning foods to someone else. Also, the options in every category are limited. Instead of an entire aisle of dish detergent fragrances and brands, you choose from a handful that take up one shelf, etc. I am disappointed they don't carry KIND bars. Positives: They have SO many Michigan made products and every single one I've tried has been amazing. Two of my favorites being a couple of the michigan made cookies in a display near the flowers and this spicy slaw in jar that goes on brats and burgers that is made by the sweetest lady in Detroit (we met her when she was handing out samples). They have a HUGE selection of beverages including dozens of different energy drinks and Kombucha at great prices. Bridge St also have this awesome section of premade meals that you can heat up in these super fast and powerful ovens located on the side of the coffee shop. I haven't explored these yet, but I am looking forward to it. Besides the coffee shop, they also feature a sushi counter and a GIANT alcohol department! There wine selection is fantastic and my boyfriend and I buy two bottles every time we go (ROSE ALL DAY). The flower section will blow your mind. They have bunches of flowers for $4 which you just cannot beat. I have already stopped by and bought flowers as gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, deaths and holidays so i love the accessibility and affordability of it all. By the way, prices throughout the store are very reasonable and cheap and the selection of produce is bountiful. Bridge Street Market makes grocery shopping simple, convenient, fast and fun. Although there are a few downsides I think that all the positives FAR outshine them. In fact, I love it so much there is a good chance I'll be moving back to the westside come Summer 2019 just so I can be closer to my favorite grocery store and bar (Kales). Stop by and love it!!!! I read all the reviews that said it was a fancier Meijer annnnnnnddddd it is! :P I would say if Horrocks and Meijer had a baby, it would be the Bridge Street Market. Prices are cheap since they are based from Meijer stores and the selections are plentiful. One downfall are the isles being a little tight to get through. They have a large selection of a lot of different products and one thing I enjoy are the coolers along the back of the coffee shop that are stocked full of different non-alcoholic drinks that you may purchase individual and not at a crazy price. EX: If you go to a gas station (which was the option before) you would spend around $2 or more for a single PowerAde. When I went, they had them for 89 cents just as if you were at the grocery store! read more

Bridge Street Market is a nice little grocery store with a decent selection of items. The produce is mostly fresh, they have a vegan section, and curious staff. Their selection of alcohol is great with fair pricing. That said, it is missing a deli for fresh meat or seafood. They do have frozen/prepackaged alternatives to cover the void. They also provide free parking which is very convenient for a downtown location that gets busy. My only gripe with the market is the necessity to check their dairy products for expiration dates as more often than not the are expired (sometimes by weeks). The number of times I have bought yogurt and probiotic shakes only to realize they expired 7-10 days previously when I arrived at home is disheartening. While I know I should check dates, it also isn't that much to expect properly stocked shelves. I now check every time to make sure of their expirations. 4/5 stars for me. read more

This is a very convenient grocery store on the west side and has AWESOME prices. It has a fine variety and everything you would need unless you need something crazy. The one thing I wish it had was prepared foods it does not have a hot bar or salad bar, I would want it to be more like Whole Foods but it's not! Don't get me wrong, Bridge Street Mkt will not replace my going to Target for specific items, etc. but it IS nice not to have to venture to the sub-par Family Fare or 10 miles away to a bigger box store when you just need a couple items. There is also a sushi and sandwich counters and a very large liquor, beer and wine selection. They have an abundance of plant based options, hellofresh meals, self-serve frozen prepared items available by the pound, and a FREE PARKING GARAGE. The bottle return is conveniently located outside and the best part is how inexpensive everything is. It's like a smaller Meijer without the drive. My Meijer credit card works here. read more
