Another five star experience. The restaurant and bar just opened for the season (3/27/26). So happy to be able to pay them a visit. Eating in the bar is one of our favorite "dining out" experience. We really enjoy the BBQ wings. They are so very meaty and tasty served hot with plenty of ranch dressing. And this time we shared a Tri-Tip Caesar Salad. Everything about this hotel is amazing, there's great fishing, history and the food is great! I stayed in the main building, room #4 which is just above the bar. The room was small but adequate for single or couple. The bathroom was tiny as was the shower. My only real complaint was the water temperature in the shower; very inconsistent. One moment it was ice cold, the next it was scalding hot! Overall, nice place to stay. read more

Ice on tha windas and lain ina place so small couldn't get comfortable. Nuthin ta eat buta hafa sanwich after 7pm. Hada go outside fer number one and so I held it as long as I could. Staying that night in my car, causin I din't want ta pay fer a room, was the 77th dumbist thang I ever done. Got so bad cold at 10pm I jes went back to try an get a room at that motor lodge upare in Oregon. Theysa jus sold tha last room at 9pm. Dang. Stayed in tha parkin lot wishin I was dead. Yesterday, I went ta the Bridgeport Inn after a longish day with my buddy Mike, an I memmered that night in the car way backa when. An I memmered bunch nights in some rough places dint have no budget ta fix thar places up and this place wus lookin like a dream. I had me some reasonable expektations fer the place an I walk in an ask fer cupla rooms at 3:30pm. They set us up nice. Ol man Mike, he got the motorlodge on ground floor causa he old and trippy if'n he ain't lookin at his feet an it dark or bumpy er watever. I got me that high falootin Mark Twain Suite and my chest puffed up causa I was gonna be like a star gonna be upair in that thar big room. They gave me some metal pointy cleat shoes, call em krampons, an an ice axe, a dude nama Sherpa, an an oxygen bottle ana big jacket. I said, "what that fer?", an they said, "yall gonna thank us fer em". They got one them ol-timey staircases wita big ol rail and it's like a ladder almost. Steep. I tied in to the safety rope, tightened my helmet and hada Sherpa lead the way. Seven hours to go up ta that second floor, jes lika climb up to that Mt. Everest place. I din't even needa jacket they gave me. Took the helmet off halfway cause the stair carpet soft. Nice pattern that carpet. Tractiony. Rail felt good in the hand an the last two steps din't even clip inta the rope. Confidence! Nice room. Ol timey. Real ol timey. Back ina day it'd be the best they got. Some dude nama Mark Twain stayed here an signed the register an all. Hada sittin room. Hada shower. Hada toilet. Imagin havna walk out and doo yer stuff outside ona cold night witha shovel. Now imagine if'n one day a year sombody plug up the retrofit outdoor-to-indoor plummin an ya hafa go over yonder with a shovel and not have one dem mergency porta-potty as a backup for 3 hours till it fixed. Ima taka portapotty over nuthin fer sher. Thay GOT ONE! Just one. Thank god. Dint hafa use it. Plummin work jes fine. Dang tho when someone flush when ya shower. Imagine no shower. Hot then cold do me jus fine, thank ya. Me an ol Mike hada few drinks. Had dinner. Steak like a pine board. Kinda like a piece of pine board cut out to fit ina picture frame as the backing. It was big and thick like that. An succulent. Taste good. Mike's steak was real good too. Mash potatoes like a cloud with butter rain, and everthang was real nice and ol timey. This here seem lika kinda place be open all year for the locals, but it git so cold in winter they gotta shut it down so the pipes don't freeze. Staff real nice too. Calm, patient, clear communicators, even witha guy like me don't not hardly got no schoolin ana education. Thay's a patient an real nice to ya. They get it we'all just guests in town an they try to make it an easy good time. They do it right. If'n this was 1877 this place musta been like the best place in the state. Real fancy everthan in the place. Kinda lika rustic stay in a different time an place. If'n ya want to see what it was like to stay in a real 1800's place and get a feel fer it, go here. Everbody seemed to know each other an it felt like a piece a home, or mebbie a better home town than I had. Good folk. She made his favorite drink better than anewheres, an so he hada few extra. Beer for me was real nice too, an I got up them stairs ok from the bar. That short trip was real, real, nice. We stayed in Room 40 on 5/5/20244 - $122.08/night. Cute vintage room with a wall heater. There was no coffee, microwave or refrigerator, likely due to electrical load that the property's not wired to handle (see heater pic.) The room had a lovely wood floor and paneling, and the bathroom floor was tiled with a pocket door - I've not seen one of those in all my travels. The beds were older and reasonably comfortable. The shower was hot and drained well but the pressure was kind of weak, which wasn't really any surprise given the age of the property. When I checked in, there were free Mono County stickers at the desk. I stopped by the restaurant in the morning for ice and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Grade: B read more

No hot shower for 2 days. I upgraded my room to have a private bathroom. The room had no hot water during my 2 day stay. I reported this numerous time to the on site management. I was promised it would be fixed and it never was. At check out, I was told the owner would call to make thing right but no call was ever made by the owner. I believe the owner knew of the problem and still rented the room despite the problem to make a few bucks. read more

I had a room in the old-time part of the establishment. It was more akin to a monk's cell. Not even a comfortable chair to sit in even though there was plenty of room for one. The television only has a very small choice of cable type channels. No streaming, no casting. The toilet didn't really flush correctly. There was not even any hand soap in the bathroom. There was shower gel shampoo and conditioner in teeny tiny bottles. I will say the bed was comfortable and had decent pillows, and the room was clean. The woman who checked me in, noticing that I was from Oakland California, went to great pains to assure me that I was " safe " here. As if I had come from a war-torn world or something. I assured her I already felt safe, as I did at home in Oakland. I definitely do not recommend this place. read more

I stayed July 13, 2025 for one night. We rented two rooms, one queen room and one room with twin beds. Both rooms had horrible beds, we all felt the bed springs and coils which made for a terrible night sleep for everyone. In the room with twin beds both the sink faucets did not work. The faucets would not turn off so water ran all night. in the same room the door lock kept getting stuck so it was very difficult to lock and unlock. Also, there is a light in the hallway that anyone could turn on or off. It was an issue with the room because above the room door is a glass window allowing the light to shine through. If you do not want to sleep this place is perfect. It is such a shame because a little maintenance would go a long way but obviously the owners do not care enough to upkeep the place. Frankly, the lack of care will get them in trouble one day because it is entirely possible that this blatant disregard toward proper maintenance will one day injure someone. We did not bother showering there for fear of not knowing what would come out of the faucets. The plumbing is very bad. To those who want to get a good sleep, feel safe, and want a sense of security, I will write, "stay away." You are better off sleeping outside then in this hotel. read more

What a nightmare and that was without seeing the ghost! Our TV didn't work and you get one little pillow. Andrew came up to try and fix the tv but couldn't. He said he would replace the satellite box but never did because he was also stuck getting drinks and waiting tables. We asked Laura for extra pillows but never got them because she was checking in people and serving tables. not enough staff to give quality service to patrons. No fridges in rooms no ice machine. no elevator so you have to lug your baggage up ancient stairs. We are 68 urs old and my husband has a bad hip! None of this info is provided on their site. Motel - We stayed in one of the rooms out back. No fridge, no coffee, no microwave and a hard bed. The room was clean and the bathroom was super retro in a fun way. This was a very basic room - and priced as such. No complaints - check in was easy and the staff was really nice. It's right downtown so you can walk to anything you need. Dinner - Enjoyed a nice meal here. I thought it was a bit expensive for what we got, but gas in this town is $2 above what you would pay in other parts of California - so maybe that's just the way it is here. They have a full bar :). I think next time we're passing through we'll give one of the other motels and restaurants a try. read more

Oh no. I'm totally going to be "that guy". The out-of-towner that comes in and writes a not great Yelp review about the local place and ruins it for all of the locals. We just were not impressed with the Bridgeport Inn. At all. My wife and I decided to split the French Dip Sandwich, which was the Blue Plate Special and also was recommended by the waitress, and it was not great. The fries were clearly frozen fries. The meat on the sandwich was very dry (The aus jus helped). The bun was a little stale and puny looking. There was no cheese (not a necessity, but just a comment). And the aus jus was probably from a mix. I wrote that last paragraph and it absolutely killed me. I'm not a food snob. I'm really not! I like McDonalds! And Taco Bell! I don't expect restaurant food to be gourmet, but I at least expect it to be better than just fine. And to top everything off, it was pretty expensive, especially for what it was. We had stopped on our drive up to Tahoe, and left Bridgeport wishing we had stopped somewhere else. So why two stars? The place was nice, and had a really cool vibe to it. I'm glad the, "You're posting during COVID, please take this into account," reminder popped up to remind ME to be nice in my review. The simple fact that there are SO many signs in this place as to what to do, where to stand, masks are $5, practice social distancing etc etc and yes, there is also a sign as to where to leave your room key when you're checking out. I failed to read this one particular sign sadly and within 30 seconds I had to overhear myself being talked about and not in a complimentary manner from the check-in desk area by an older female employee to a younger one about how I had failed to read the sign, "She's standing right there with the key in her hand wondering what to do, when the sign clearly says leave it on the desk" You know what Bridgeport Inn, "lady"? Times are tough and you are lucky to even HAVE a job these days. No-one, when they're on vacation which they themselves have worked extremely hard to be able to have wants to hear themselves being talked about, at least wait until you're sure I am out the door next time before you start your little rant. [Seeing as you didn't wait, you snagged yourself a little review] I work in hospitality also so I know what I'm talking about - this is NOT how you treat your paying guests. This review is for the motel room #34 paid $109.00 plus taxes. Room was clean but dated furniture with TV off to the side of the bed. No power plug in bathroom for hair dyer. The shower drain was slow and backs up with water. This is not worth the $109.00 for this room. Also you can not check in before 3pm and to top it off all the rooms were cleaned ready to go by 2pm when we arrived. Not customer friendly with early arrivals. I will not be back, definitely will check into another motel in town. read more

I went on the website and book a room in the main hotel for one night. When my girlfriend and I arrived they told us our room is outside in the motel. I told them I paid to stay in the main historic hotel. She said all their rooms in the main hotel are full. So not only was i charged for a more expensive room but then they kicked us out to the motel rooms outside. Which btw havnt been updated since 1972. It was snowing outside the heater would only kick on for a couple minutes before turning off for half an hour. I really love history and its a shame we had such an aweful experience. The restaurant is by far the best part. The food is good and the waitress staff are always super nice. read more

Really enjoyed our stay here. It was only one night, but the room was very reasonable quality for the price, very quiet and comfortable. My wife's uncle owns a cabin at Green Creek where we stay for a week, annually, and we came up a day early this year and overnighted at the Bridgeport Inn. Our room was in the more mid century modern motel area behind the street facing building, where there are also rooms available. We were a fairly large group for one room, four adults and one child (my parents, my wife, myself and our son) and no one was cramped for sleeping space. The Inn's breakfast really hit the spot the following morning. Generous portions and very tasty food. I don't think I ever saw the bottom of my coffee mug the whole time. In all, a very nice experience for such a sleepy little town. read more

We have been going to the restaurant for years. We stay in town for 4-5 days and usually go here for breakfast. No longer as they have a waitress ghat does not want to serve people. We sat for 35 minutes, no water, no nothing. We watched people coming in and getting served. When another table asked about the lack of service, the were directed at this older waitress and when we spoke up as to have been waiting even longer, the lady who was helping the waitresses went over and pointed to our table and said "first and second" pointing at the other table. The waitress went to a couple who had just come in to serve them. A group of guys from another table got up and asked they were walking out, they said they could not wait any longer. This was our signal that we also would never get breakfast and also left. I came back and asked for a manager but was only directed to the bartender who had sat us at the table today. When I told him that we never served, he acknowledged the problem but said that the rest of the wait staff also complained about her but nothing was happening. Less than excited after eating lunch at Bridgeport Inn. The building grabs your attention and makes a statement - it's clean, it's bright, it's old (1877 historic), and a lush grassy outdoor area to one side. An inn, bar, and restaurant. We were lured. At arrival (just before noon), breakfast was finishing up and we were asked to wait in the bar while they set up for lunch. Slurped on bloody marys as we watched other patrons arrive and seated in the dining room. I suppose lunch is ready. The menu is uninspired ... basic lunch options of generic burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Regardless, we dove in hoping for something inspired to arrive: * Sierra Burger (w/side salad) * Caesar Salad Note: the kids menu section lists "Kraft Mac and Cheese" for $8.50. Almost certain that the food here either comes from a bag or a box and very little fresh anything making it to the plate. Sierra Burger (1/3 lb) w/1000 Island. The first 3 burgers on the menu list 1000 Island. There are 4 "burgers" on the menu. It arrived open face with the dressing smeared on the top bun half. The salad looks as if it had been grabbed from the bag and dropped onto the plate and dressing schlopped on top. Just a burger; patty wasn't bad. The Caesar salad ... again, seriously believe everything in this salad came from a bag (lettuce), container (parmesan), box (croutons), or bottle (dressing). Grating fresh parm really isn't hard at all. Neither is cutting/tearing lettuce. This was "short order cook" food, do all your shopping at Costco, with no imagination and overpriced for an adequate lunch. read more

We stayed here after visiting Bodie, twin lakes and the local hot springs. This place hit the spot, only cuz the other motels in town where sold out. The rooms where old but pretty cool, and clean. The customer service was horrible, the bigger lady was pretty rude, the TV in our room wasn't connecting to the cable, when I called the office, she said she was sending someone to look at it, an 30min later I called again, no one ever came, I guess once they have your money they don't care about the customer. For the price here , I'd check out the other places. Once the bar closes you can't get ice, there are no ice machines by the back rooms. They say they have Harris Ranch Meat, they don't have Harris Ranch chefs. read more

The Bridgeport Inn seems to confuse shabby and rundown with historic. We recently stayed here on our way to Yosemite, and were only able to secure a room with a shared bathroom. The room was tiny and stuffy, and the bed was horribly uncomfortable (think lumpy potato sack laying on top of a rickety wooden pallet). The transom over the door ensured that the room stayed brightly lit all night long thanks to the hallway light, which made it even more difficult to sleep. The bathroom wasn't clean, and it was necessary to apply the strength of Hercules to turn on the sink and shower faucets. The coupe de grace was the mildewy, gross shower. We didn't eat at the restaurant because it was shockingly expensive ($21.99 for meatloaf and mashed potatoes) so I won't comment on the quality of the food. Instead, we went across the street to Rhino's, which was hopping, fun and the food was good and priced reasonably. Drive a little further on the 395 to the Virginia Creek Settlement and stay at a much better, cleaner place for around the same price. Bridgeport Inn is gross. read more

The Brigeport Inn is the go-to spot for dinner for many miles around in my book, with delicious meals at reasonable prices for being in this remote part of the state. I was staying at the hotel as a stopover on my way to mammoth and figured I would try the well-regared restaurant downstairs. The service is pretty straightforward, I ate at the bar to save time since it was a packed weeknight after labor day. Service was friendly and prompt, if overextended. Decor was very rural california bar, with lots of crap on the walls. Prices were a bit high, but that is due to the remote location of the town itself. My meal was surprisingly good, but I figure the several hundred mile drive over the sierra put me in the mood for food. I had the sumptuous meatloaf with tasty gravy, crispy cross-cut sweet potato fries and well-cooked regular fries (crispy, but not overdone). I don't often have meatloaf, so I was surprised that I ate pretty much the whole two slices. The sauce was pretty darn good too, not too much ketchup, not too much bbq. The meal stayed with me for days, but I was also camping and having lackluster dinners for a week. I also enjoyed staying in the hotel. While expensive, it was a great way to ease into my camping trip further south. Anytime you are camping in the area and want a solid home-cooked meal, or are driving through in the evening, the Bridgeport Inn is where you should stop for dinner. read more

This place was okay, but not great. We had to pay about $125 for their next to last room Sunday night, 9/28/08, in a town with only about 5 motels I think, and it was an older motel and room with the usual idiosynchronies. The clerk wasn't the friendliest, maybe because he gets a lot of complaints about the prices. The restaurant was pretty high, too. The hotel has a lot of history, which was neat, though we were in a more "modern" section--not historic, that is. I was told they had a satellite dish for WiFi but the signal was so low I never could get connected, which was a big disappointment, especially since that was one of the factors in deciding to stay here. I had been in a non-Internet room for three previous nights so I was really looking forward to "catching up". You had to go into their bar to get ice and the bucket they provided in the room was really small so H took in one we brought from home the size of the ones other motels provide--about the size of a 32 oz cottage cheese container and he said the bartender didn't fill it all the way and acted like it was a big inconvenience to do it. I really liked the all tile huge shower but as soon as I turned on the water it started to build up and I was becoming afraid it would overflow the 2" rim in the doorway so I ended up turning the water off while I shampooed my hair and turned it back on to rinse. I had to step out of totally sudsy 1" or more deep water when I was done so I didn't feel my feet were clean. We were able to park right in front of the room, which we like, and the view of the mountains outside our door was spectacular. read more

The room could've used a night stand between the 2 beds. The bathrooms were shared with other guest. This is my second review. My rating has changed. Read why. Wifi is weak. Bring your 4g. Next doors is stronger. Clean but in need of updates so keep expectations in reality with a 150 year old house. Yes the carpets are spotted. Yes it needs a major renovation. Yes it's the same price as a LaQuinta or other midrange hotel without the amenities. Water temp changes quick so don't stand under the shower - you'll get burnt. Breakfast isn't until 8am (poor time choice - many had left for sunrise photos - go continental and go free). Food isn't bad for the location and portions are huge. They could lower prices and cut portions. Managers couldn't be found prior to 8am. Weird feeling to think there was no night manager / security in the main hotel. Had I slipped in the shower when the water scalded followed by the lights going out (auto timer clicked off - I had to step out and wave to get back on) who would have helped? Would I have to rely on the kindness of other guests. read more
