After…read morestopping in and discussing my Suzuki control box project with Dayton, he said he would be happy to do it. He also instructed me to buy the control box needed and to call him when I had it. After getting the part, I called him schedule a day to bring it in. He said the following week would work. I asked what day works and he said he would call me. No call from him, so I called him and he said he was really swamped and it would have to be the following week. Again I asked for a day and he said he would call me on Friday to let me know the day. Again, no call. So the following Monday, I stopped in. Again he said it would have to be the following week which is now approaching my lake Vermillion vacation time, starting on June 2nd but still ok. I said I needed to have a date set and he said Tuesday, the 26th of May. I arrived on Tuesday with my boat and he told me that he talked it over with his guys and that because my motor is a Suzuki he doesn't want to do the project, due to liabilities, and that I should take it to Hallberg Marine because they know Suzuki. He said if it was a Mercury, Honda, or Yamaha, he could do it. Bottom line: Why didn't he just tell me that from the start? I ended up taking it to Warner's Marine in New Richmond, explained my situation, and Nate Warner fit me in, and they have been great! Again, Dayton should have avoided this mess by not taking on the project in the first place. I rarely write a bad review, but in this case I had to. Now Gardy's has a recent review for future potential customers to see. Also, it looks like reviews aren't posted to their website yet...Hmmmm

Giovanni took us for about a 45 minute ride around the St Croix while we dined on wine and cheese. He sang us a few songs and taught us some Stillwater history. It was neat to find out the gondola was actually shipped from Italy and that Giovanni has been giving rides for the last 17 years. He made sure we kissed under the bridge for good luck and gave us some great recommendations for other things to do in town. When we tried to start our pontoon boat it was no longer nice. Our boat would not start (the starter had failed). We called the Stillwater boat club and 1hour and 45 minutes later they arrived with a different pontoon boat. Now, I could name the young man who brought the pontoon boat down for us but I don't want to get too personal. I just want to say that we were told, by the fore mentioned young man, that there would be a discount on the fuel and the rental to make up for our time marooned. Here is what we received: An approximate discount on fuel of $10 and a promised $50 discount on the next $490 pontoon rental (gas included). Moral of the story: If you would like to give up 20% of your time on a pontoon and receive a credit for that loss of enjoyment of 10%, go to the Stillwater Boat Club and Rentals. -John C.
