Called asking about a transmission drain and fill while shopping around for prices. The guy who answered was not really personable or friendly. Which is not really an issue if they do good work... However when I gave my vehicle info he incorrectly concluded my transmission type with worrying certainty. The wrong transmission fluid will destroy your transmission. Glad I didn't go here. I have extremely terrible experience in the repair shop, my jaguar car had the check engine light on, so I chose this repair shop. But it took them one month for repairing, the result is I have to drive my can away with my engine light still on, because I cannot trust them any more. During this time, the technician told me I need to replace the throttle body and ABS sensors. The price he told me was extremely high, so I decided to buy the parts myself, the throttle body is replaced successfully which I was happy about it. But for the ABS sensor, taking them almost half an month, only after I said I really need my car next week, then they start doing things for the sensor. And the attitude of the technician is really rude, sometimes when I just call to ask how was my car going on, they will be impatient, and many times even directly cut off my call. Just horrible experience, And for the ABS sensor, they replace the one I bought, but the light still on, I don't have time to wait for their bull shit work, so I drove my car back, but they still charged me for about 3 hours labor. read more

Great place, they do honest work and give decent prices. The owner Rich is a really nice guy. The only problem at this place is that they take a long time to do the work. I mean really long. Sometimes it's worth it to go somewhere that you can trust even if it takes a long time because you know you will get a good job done on your automobile. But if you are looking for a quick turn around for scheduling reasons like work, etc, you may want to consider another place. I went there last Thursday to get a tune up and he said to bring my truck back in on Monday because they were busy. Here it is Monday and I dropped it off at 9am and I called at 1 pm and Rich says that they are STILL backed up and could I just bring it back tomorrow? I said no, I took off work for this and it has to be done today. He said he will find out how long it will be and call me back. So, here I am, a day wasted and nothing accomplished. Sometimes I wish I had been a mechanic like my brothers.... but since i'm not, it's good to know I can rely on these guys at Bridgeport Transmissions to pinpoint the problem and get it fixed at a cost that's satisfying to my wallet. My Jeep has been through its fair share of abuse. The city makes sure of that, and the dirt roads of the country can attest to some of the wear and tear as well. So it's no wonder "she" gives me some grief and breaks down from time to time. Enter the guys at BT. After giving me an estimate for what it would cost to replace the trans, somewhere in the thousands, they tell me what it would cost me to repair it, somewhere in the hundreds, better than new. I will go with option B, especially since it won't break the budget. Gotta get my kids to school, transport my artwork, and travel as much as possible on road trips, so not having a working vehicle is not an option. Thanks again to the BT team. Expect some slacking off if you aren't an aggressive customer, but the work will get done, eventually, if you're patient lol. Plus this time they threw in some free tail lights. do not let this guy touch your transmission. he ruined my suv. my trans went out on my 2001 suburban for the first time .i wanted it rebuilt. i went to this shop and he told me it can't be rebuilt and he had to put another 1 in .just under $1700. i said fine long as it last a long time .he stuck a piece of junk in there and gave my truck to me. right away i was having problems he said its fine . after going back in forth with him about it he said take it to a shop and if they find anything wrong he will fix it. i took it to a dealer and they said he put the wrong year trans in and he used a lot of glue that will fail and he broke some other things that should never break . i took it back with the diagnostic sheet from the dealer and he said this is bullshit . they lying . he still didn't think nothing was wrong with my truck.so i paid another place and they said yeah its bad in 2nd and 3rd gear . i took it back to bridgeport with that diagnosis and he said fine . he had a different tone and swap that trans out.3 weeks i got it back .i'm out of $400 more dollars from paying them.he didn't even compensate me. now the trans he put in only lasted 3900 miles and went bad like my original did. and it was under a year.( i don't drive my suv daily until the winter and the weekends mostly throughout the year for groceries ) .i went to him with the recipe he gave me and he said it out of his hands he only do 3 months or 3000 miles.now he told me he will give me a year cause of the trouble i went thru. he lied. i told him this trans only lasted 3900 miles and he said bring it in and let him look at it. i ask if its bad do i have to pay him for another trans if its bad and to check it. he said yes .i was to done then . now i have a old suv with a rust on the panels (which they all have in the same spots if you know about chevy suburbans of that year) but really good engine and everything else and a super shitty trans. i should have went to the dealer.being cheap cost me big money and my favorite ride. and i never once called him asking when is my truck gonna be ready. i gave him the key and said fix it.fix it right.call me when its done.and i paid cash not credit but no he fixed it wrong really wrong. this the worst shop i ever been to for a car repair. This is my second time I had to bring one of my cars here. This time it was for a complete transmission rebuild. There was a problem after the car was done and the owner "Rich" is a man of his word and took the car right back in and fixed it no problem. Talk to Rich if you need any work done on your car, he is a great honest guy to work with and stands by his work. It's the only place I'll go to when I need work done in the future. read more
