FIRST IMPRESSION: I parked on the drive and went into the office late Wednesday. It was freshly painted with a customer restroom. A very pleasant young lady was at the service window and took down my concerns and contact information along with the keys. I told her I need the car back by Friday. COMMUNICATION FROM SHOP On Thursday morning I got a call and we discussed how I wanted the problem with my lack of air conditioning remedied, i.e., replace all leaking components or just get it working and add freon as needed in the future. I took the least costly. On Thursday afternoon I got a call that the car was ready and work was completed. DELIVERY OF CAR On Friday morning I arrived and paid for the work which was very reasonable and again got good service from the young lady at the service window. PRIOR BAD REVIEWS Before coming in for service I read the yelp reviews where the majority of customers were very pleased. I then saw a review from a former employee who wanted her W-2s. That is not a yelp issue. Another was from someone who did not want to have work done for the quoted price and had it done much cheaper on the air conditioner. As in my case I was given a quote to get it running and to replace all leaking components. For the price the yelper paid all that was done by the other shop was what I had done here for less money. read more

I brought my truck to Delgados to have the steering wheel & heater- a/c repaired. The truck was ready after 4 days. When I arrived I parked across the street and immediately noticed a significant dent above the drivers side tire. The dent had a black stain, which felt like grease when I wiped it. I also notice footprints on the bumper. This damage was not there before I bought the truck in, it clearly occurred while the truck was in their care. Juan, the technician claim the dent was already there. The receptionist stated the shop has cameras and they would be reviewed. There were no visible license or information identifying the owner or manager. The receptionist said the manager is Silvano and he would return my call on Monday. When I called on Monday Juan answered, was rude and unprofessional. He refuse to provide the owners name or accept any responsibility for the damage or explain the footprints on the bumper. In good faith I brought my truck in for service. After 4 days I expected the repairs to be completed-not for my truck to be damaged and stepped on. I do not recommend this business. I strongly advise videoing your vehicle. Delgado has refused to take accountability for the damages caused while the truck was in their possession. read more

Nice people, not sure if dishonest...or..... here is my story. I did not pass my emissions test, Audie 2013 - was given a list of places to see. I chose Delgado. They charged me $160 for diagnosis - then said I needed a new radiator - $1,800 - I could apply the 160. I phoned another place on the list - Factory Muffler. After looking up my VIN - Noah said my car just needed to be "reset". I took it in - and 10 minutes later after Noah "reset" my car - viola - I passed. No new radiator needed. Perhaps a flush. So, I saved $1,800. If you need second opinion - go to FACTORY MUFFLER - directly across from the emission testing place in Skokie. read more

ZERO STARS If I could give this place zero stars, I surely would. A couple of years ago brought my BMW X5 in there to get some spark plugs replaced and a cooling tank installed. Took a couple days longer than expected at first I thought no big deal. Then when I go to the mechanic shop and pick it up, I see there is damage to my car. They didn't tell me about it over the phone, but when I got there, it was pretty clear that there was damage to the right side of the front fender on my car. They tried to cover it up with some cheap spray job from one of their buddies shops and said it wasn't a big deal at all. They told me to come back in a few weeks and they would buff out the rest for me. Never went back there because I moved out of the neighborhood, but recently I tried selling my car and the dealership alerted me to a lot of internal damage that these guys caused on that right side. I would stay away from this spot if you value your vehicle, really untrustworthy people who could care less about your property. I see now why they have so many job postings there, can't retain anyone decent. read more

I always go there for my oil changes but have also gone for a new battery and general inspections. Took my car to Delgado's last year (November 2021) because of some emission problems and overall wear and tear that needed to be fixed. I won't lie the final price on the bill was high and I cried for week (lol) knowing I had to pay it, it was all MY FAULT!! I should have taken care of these car problems sooner. The team at Delgados were super cool and awesome, they fixed my car and even took it to the emission testing for me (it passed the test) they even arranged a tow truck to come pickup my car when other places I called told me they were busy or put me on hold and hung up on me! Staff is always very kind. However, I took my vehicle in for an AC diagnosis around when they opened for the day and did not hear back until close to their closing time for them to tell me the AC repair would be around $1,400. I declined this estimate, and the next day I took it to another shop where they repaired my AC for $370 and now all is functioning properly. I feel this shop does try to upsell on things that may not actually be needed. read more

The only thing that doesn't make sense to me about this place is why it's not a 5 star business. I stopped by for help with a flat tire and they were super cool and helpful. Since they aren't a full tire repair shop they helped me by putting air in, finding the problem, and sending me off to another shop quickly without even charging me. While picking my car up from the impound lot, I discovered that the tow truck had managed to somehow forget to bring my muffler along with my car. My exhaust pipe was dragging on the ground and they had me fill out a discrepancy. I was feeling pretty disenchanted. After some creative use of auxiliary cords, I got my exhaust lifted off the ground and brought it to Delgados. This is where my day turned around. Although they technically closed at 3 and it was 2:55, they welcomed me in and put my car up. After a quick inspection, they walked me through the work and gave me an amazing price estimate. They told me an hour and I went to go get food. Less than an hour later, they called and said it was done. Upon my return, the mechanic walked me through the work he had done. It was being my expectations with great quality welding, rust inhibiting paint, and new hangers and rubber connectors. He then offered me a free oil change. Wow!! I'm grateful to Vino and Delgado's for helping my car pass the emissions test! After two emissions test rejects due to not ready signals, I brought my car in to get it checked out. I dropped by late one afternoon and was quickly helped out by Vino, who is fantastic. Vino gave me advice on how to get the signals to set to ready without making any further diagnostics or repairs. Following Vino's helpful instructions, I drove another 100 or so miles at 55 MPH and a couple of days later, I brought the car back and Vino told me it was then ready for the test, which it then passed. I suspect a simple engine light fix would have saved me a ton but again, shame on me for not doing my homework. My real gripe is that after having spent a small fortune, they had the balls to frame my rear license plate with their own without telling me. Absolutely thrilled with the service I received at Delgado's. I have never has such a great experience with a car shop. About 1/4 of the price of the dealership's quote for my issue. They provided a quote and we made an appointment all by text, which was super convenient. The communication was excellent from start to finish, they were extremely fast and professional, and I just couldn't have had a better experience. Will definitely return to them for future repairs. 2000 model car. Failed the emissions test...totally my fault, I had no idea that you automatically fail if you have an engine light on. I had never failed one before so I was still under the impression they were testing my car for leaking actual polluting fumes (ok, slap my wrist while I say a big, "DUHHHH."). Learned my lesson. It COULD have cost me $725.00, courtesy of Delgado's on Western. Emissions place gives you paperwork displaying the specific error code that gives the mechanic an idea of where to look. Without the PASS on your test, you can't renew your plates (mine are set to expire 2weeks- yikes!) Delgado's called me back to say I had an issue with the evaporative canister assembly, which stores wasted fuel fumes. They said I had a leak. I needed to have hoses purged, install a new canister and have the computer program reset. Sounded pretty feasible to me. They quoted $400 for the 'special' part plus $325 in labor. I felt ill...nobody likes to pay $$$ for car repair. To make matters worse- I am being laid off as of April 1 so $700 at this time was a kick in the teeth. I researched the error codes online and what others did to remedy the problem. A lot of times, this error code was a minor problem and didn't need a new canister or hoses. In the end, I called an uncle who works on cars and told him what the good mechanics said. First, he laughed about their claim that the computer program needed to be "reset." Reset means they unplug the computer from the battery and then plug it back in again. He checked the so-called leaky hoses and also checked the canister. Nothing wrong with them!! Once he disconnected and reconnected the battery / computer, drove the car around for a bit, the error code went away and my car passed the emissions test. HOORAAAAYYY! Delgado's charged $50 to diagnose my vehicle. During their diagnostic, I'm quite sure at some point they discovered my car's issue was a matter of unplug-replug... So what does this mean? Was Delgado's being deceitful? Did they see that I am a woman who probably doesn't know jack about cars so I'd have no choice but to have them fix it? I'll let you decide. I'm glad they only got me for $50. My advice: Do your homework before you agree to any repairs. My rating: Zero stars but am forced to choose 1 star to submit review. read more

Recently took my car into Delgado's for an emissions test. My sticker had just expired as I travel a lot for work and overlooked the date so I needed to pass the test soon to get a new sticker. I guess Delgado's noticed this as well because they almost got away with my wallet and rent. My engine light was on and had been for a couple years. I failed the test and Delgado's quoted me $750 to fix everything "needed" to pass this test. I grew up working on cars with my father and was suspicious from the beginning when I asked for the print-out and they gave me a hand-written quote with NO Error Codes, NO parts needed, and NO explanation of the work to be performed. I had to request all this detail specifically and they seemed reluctant before jotting out about seven things that they would be "fixing" After researching all the parts needed (about $100 in parts), it seemed as though I was getting ripped off. I took the car and quote to a family friend who runs a garage in the suburbs for a second opinion. This garage told me that NONE of the 7 things they quoted as a problem needed fixed. They also then found that there was a faulty wire on the purge solanoid causing the engine light. They ordered this specialty part for about $60, ran the cold cycles and sure enough, off goes the engine light. All-in-all, I passed the emissions test after $150 in repairs and labor. Delgado's almost ripped me off for $700+ and that would not have even fixed what was wrong. This place is unacceptable. read more

Terrible customer service...the little guy, who I'm assuming to be the manager/owner, was a total a**. He acted as if he didn't want to work. I've never had better service at an auto shop. I found out my car had serious emission issues right before I was going out of town, issues I had to fix ASAP, yet had limited time to deal with. Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. Their prices were fair, and they even went above and beyond, offering to hold my car until I got back in town. Although I was grateful, I declined, but it really spoke to their level of dedication in terms of helping their customers. When I got my car back, it ran better than it had in years. They replaced my brakes, calipers, and rotors and were the cheapest according to my research. (Thanks Iphone Repair pal for making me seem like I know what I'm talking about.) And the mechanics let me come back there and actually showed me what was wrong, which is nice. I will be back to get the back brakes replaced sometime soon. They threw in a free oil change too. :) They also helped with replacing a broken windshield wiper incident that I stopped in and got fixed within minutes. read more

Old car. Failed the emission test. Yes, they had advertisements all over and yes, there was a guy handing me a flyer as i went into the Air Check place on Webster. But then, when my car failed, I went over to their shop. I got an estimate that was lower than that provided by Car-X. (When I told this to Car-X, they just said "we can match that -- which makes me wonder about their regular prices!) I sighed, and told them to go ahead. I was told the car might take a day and half to get done. It didn't -- it was ready the next day, even though they had to get Subaru parts. They also took it to the Air Check place and ran it through the testing for me -- for free. Salvino Delgado was a good guy to deal with. Personable and a good communicator. read more
