(especially in the bath houses) The store was closed during times it said it would be open. There was no wifi available so phone use is limited. My smoke detector was going off early on the morning for no apparent reason. Someone did come and fix it. This is busy season yet their were no activities or gatherings of any kind or an event calendar like most of their other locations provide. Pro's Staff was friendly and checking in and out was easy. Close to downtown Sturgeon Bay and down the street from a popular state park. Bathrooms were clean. Pool was open daily.

You definitely have enough space between you and your next door neighbor for a little privacy. Dogs are welcomed! Apparently they are NOT welcome if you rent one of their cabins out. But if you can an RV- you're good to bring the fur babes! (There are also dog beaches near by and a lot of pet friendly restaurants in the area! It's just a google away!) As we were taking a walk, we did some exploring. There is a great activity area full of things for kids to do! Swing set, merry go round, soccer nets, tennis court, mini golf, an indoor activity center (that we did not go in but I'm assuming pool tables and things like that?) and a beautiful out door pool! This campground is right next to a state park! As we took the fur babes on our morning walk, we did some exploring. We are neighbors with Potawatomi State Park! We walked down a trail that lead us right to the lake! I wish I brought my phone :( All in all, this place is well maintained. In a great location. It's definitely peaceful. From the looks of it, there are more seasonal camp sites than people that come for a weekend are leave. Night time is quiet (how I like it!). You DO have to pay for WiFi. That isn't included in the site. I believe for our full hook up site (an elite site is what we have) we paid about $200 for 3 nights (Monday-Thursday). Five stars, and this is based on a one day visit, of approximately 3 hours!…read more We were heading home from our stay at Peninsula State Park, and stopped in to check it out, since I had never been here before. What a lovely park! We picnicked down by the boat launch, which looks out over Sturgeon Bay and Sawyer Harbor. Our view actually consisted of two islands and the homes thereon. There is a shelter, of sorts, very near the boat ramp, and we learned that it is actually a place to process your catch....there are metal tables there to do what you need to do. After eating, we drove through the park to take in the sights and get a feel for it. We headed up to the tower, and as of our visit, it is still closed. We continued to the Old Ski Hill Overlook and got out to take some photos. We drove through more forest and ended up at the Nature Center and Park Store. Here you can rent bikes, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. You can also pick up a souvenir or two, or some snacks. We made a pit stop at the toilets (flushable and with nice showers) before heading out and on our way home. This park is located within a decent distance of Sturgeon Bay, but is also remote enough that you won't get the sounds of the city disturbing you at night. It is an easy drive up the peninsula from this location, and day trips are definitely doable. The only downside, as others have mentioned, is that there is no beach at this park. If that is a deal breaker, there are 4 more state parks in Door County to choose from. I don't know if we will ever camp here, but I can definitely say that I am not opposed to another visit! 49/2022

However there are plenty of options without electric dedicated to just tents, too! The grounds were very well-kept, including the pathways that are paved around the grounds and the trails, which are easily accessible. Plus, the main check-in cabin at the entrance seemed brand new! Would say that the bathrooms/showhouses could use an updated, but they were still indeed cleaned daily. Also worth noting that the 'beach' on-site is all rocks, so it's not the sandy kind where you can park your stuff on for the day. Instead, we made our way into town to access the beaches there. Overall great location and nice park we would return to!

The bathrooms were always very clean, showers at a good temperature, and always stocked. The grounds are clean and the local is not crazy busy with tourists. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the grounds were well-maintained, and everything felt clean and cared for. One thing we really appreciated was how each campsite felt private, even though there were other campers nearby. It created a relaxing atmosphere without feeling crowded. Whether you're camping as a family, with pets, or just looking for a peaceful getaway, Wagon Trail Campground is a fantastic choice. It's quickly become one of our favorite camping spots, and we can't wait to come back! Highly recommended.

The only thing I was a little not sure about were the quiet hours from 10 pm - 8 am, and I guess moreso the fact that when we checked in the lady made a point to tell me that that also applied to small children, which I get, but also, don't have that much control over? Our kids got up at 6:30 everyday so we left the campground for awhile and came back at 8 to start our day - worked out fine, though! We'll definitely be back.

I'm adding an update since it's been 4 years since my last review of this park, but please also see…read moremy 2 earlier reviews. They have completely rebuilt the fire tower adding an accessible ramp. While we are able to climb stairs, we enjoyed the ramp a great deal. I'm not a huge fan of open stairs and found this wide ramp that is intended for both wheelchair users and walkers to be a very pleasant way to reach the viewing platform and return to ground level. The view from the top is amazing on a clear day. We also walked part of the sunset bike trail as an out and back which was lovely. We started at the beach, headed toward the lighthouse and continued on to the bluffs/cliffs before turning around. It was about 6 miles round trip and had lots of wildflowers and beaches along the way. This is a great trail for anyone who doesn't want to navigate a lot of tree roots or rocks. Other updates: The lighthouse is being refurbished and is scheduled to reopen later in June 2026. There are now food trucks near the beach if you don't feel like bringing a picnic lunch!

To access the park, you have to pay a vehicle admission pass at the visitor center. Daily pass for out-of-state plates is $16. The rates are different for Wisconsin plates and senior citizens. 12-month pass is available as well. The small gift shop in the visitor center has magnets, stickers, paper weights, shirts, etc. There are also comfort rooms inside. It was raining when we visited. The rain stopped for a bit and we were able to see Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. We weren't able to go in the lighthouse because it was still early and not yet open. It was okay from the outside. We also went to see the Eagle Tower. Since it was raining and dark clouds were all over, we did not see the nice view that this spot is known for.

She takes great care of the cabins and always has great suggestions when you ask her about anything local from food to activities. The property is great for walks and there's some horses and donkeys to check out too. Our dogs always feel at home on the ranch. We love to ride ATV trails and Spur of the Moment has trail access. You ride from your front door to anywhere you like in the area, no trailering. On our last trip we brought a side x side and all the great trails permitted our lager machine. All of the meals we ate out we did by riding our machines to and Ann supplied us with maps so we knew where we were going. The trail system has so many local and long distant places to go to it's good for beginners as well as veterans. Last thing that we've always enjoyed is the other guests. The Ranch is not only good to ATV'ers it's VERY horse friendly. On a busy weekend you can have all types of guests and on every trip we've done it's never mattered what you're into, people are just friendly. It's flat out relaxing.
