This made the process longer and felt unproductive. In a professional setting, I believe it's more important to focus on solutions and clear communication rather than defending missteps. I hope future customer interactions are handled in a more solution-oriented and professional manner.

My trainer today was Tim and he did a great job keeping things engaging and fun while providing feedback. Tim is an excellent trainer as he really understands the material and which pieces are the most important to understand and remember in a crisis situation. He met us where we were at, always polite and respectful and taking time to get to know us a bit. I highly recommend taking training here and I hope to return in the future!

The gal who helped me had her hair in her mouth and told me that the bigger needles hurt less. I worked in the medical field and when she said that to me, I just thought, "Did you really just say that? You're joking. This is a joke." It was so painful I cried out. If the techs at Kaiser can take your blood and you almost don't feel it, why can't the Red Cross Folks, who do this all day, day in and day out, be trained as well? It should not have hurt like that. There was no option to opt out of "donating" your blood to scientific testing. NO OPTION. Either "help save lives and you must donate to scientific testing, including third parties who we sell your blood to (this was in the paperwork that you have to read before you do it), or do not help save lives." When I told the gal that when my step dad died, he required a lot of blood and that's why I was doing this, she said, "I'm sorry... Did he make it?" And, finally, the "snacks" were mini oreos and unhealthy foods. Not even an orange to replace electrolytes and fluids. I mean, we give you our blood and you give us... the inability to opt out of having third parties scientifically test our blood and some mini oreo cookies, cheese its, greasy/stale peanuts, and small Mrs. Fields cookies. If I needed to replenish my blood and health, why would I eat an Oreo? To poison myself? At the end, the gal said "You saved three lives today." And I looked at her, the gal who I'd just told that my step dad died, and thought... Well, I personally witnessed someone require a lot of blood and die in front of me. So... no. You have no idea. I will never donate through you again.

The volunteers are super nice and try to make everything as fast and painless as possible. Get a rapid pass the day of and it will speed you up even more. Also, be hydrated - your blood flows far better. There are a crazy number of people who rely on your donations just to live their day to day lives due to blood disorders.

The second time they had the name of the building as " The Montessori House" when in fact it was a church. There were no signs in front of it indicating otherwise. When you register the information that you get is " The Montessori House" and the address. They should list it at the church since that is the building at the address. Additionally, you should get all the relevant information for the site WHEN YOU REGISTER AND PAY. Not weeks later before the class. I just wonder how much money they are making from people who are sick and have to cancel (a stupid policy from people providing a healthcare related course since everyone realizes illness is unpredictable) and because of poorly labelled class sites. I was denied the opportunity to donate blood because my pulse was high. I was having anxiety about…read morethe experience. After the first person took my pulse I was told they would take it again in 5-10mins. It felt like 3 minutes. Had they waited a bit longer, my pulse would have gone down because the anxiety was lessening. I can feel it physically when my anxiety is high and I can feel it going away. With the need for donors, I would think they would have waited to check because they could have gotten a donation from me. The staff were nice but I don't think they really cared for me to donate blood. I rescheduled the appointment but not sure I will ever donate blood again as this experience was off putting. With rising prices, I not only wasted time, but gas too.

But once you do, expect to start receiving the constant texts and calls from unknown numbers lol. After all these years, Red Cross still has not updated their systems. I think experienced donors know how I feel. But onto the subject of this place: ~ Its a fairly big facility with an open quad area. Blood donations in the front. Blood platelets and plasma in the back, in an enclosed glass section. ~ What's also great about this place is the staff. I've always ran into the elderly ladies at check-in that are smiling and helpful. The technicians I've ran into have ranged from normal yet talkative, to near-zombie-like and anti- social. ~ The preparation area and equipment used for platelet/plasma donation is quite clean. I've seen technicians wipe things down, and bring in new sealed kits. Its definitely different when donating platelets. Overall, this location does an excellent job in getting donors set up and checked-in properly. The bed, or gurney, used are clean as is the equipment. I'll likely return six months from now for another donation. But I bet I'll receive over 20-30 calls/text from RC before then.
