Wow... this was a tough 4. 5 stars for the First Aid/CPR/AED class and the instructor, Matt Brady. 3 stars for their administration and process. And because the 3 burned so much of my time, I had to pull my overall down from a 5 to a 4. Course - I've been certified FA/CPR certified for 18 years with AED added on in the last 5. This renewal, I decided to try a different educator. There were some updates and changes to best practices, which were highlighted throughout. Classes had a good blend of video learning, hands-on practice and validation, and live lecture with Q&A. Solidly 21st century. The instructor was engaging, had lots of personal experience, and had a great energy. It's the best I've had so far. There were a couple of small points missing that gave me pause, and I brought them up during the first aid part. Small but important things such giving lots of ice-cold water or sports drinks to someone in heat exhaustion or heat stroke can be very detrimental if they are very dehydrated (from vomiting to even sending them into cardiac arrest). Oh, and the Hillsboro campus has a single-serve, custom-grind Aramark coffee maker... super sweet! 5 stars. Challenges/lesson that may be helpful: Admin - CTC is a DBA, so there will be a discrepancy between your bill, the training provider, and the certifying authority. By the time I called, the booker said the Portland class I was hoping for wasn't available anymore. Instead she suggested a similar class at the Hillsboro location. I didn't know where that was but she said it would be on the receipt. It wasn't. The desktop site is much more functional than the mobile app, so don't rely on it. Google maps couldn't initially find it the Hillsboro training location. Instead it pointed to a nearby Hillsboro fire station. I pinned the company and address, so maybe that will improve the score so it shows up for others. Here's by biggest admin thing - So by default you apparently get an eCard. That's fine. What is not mentioned is that there is a whole long legal-ease agreement with privacy policy by the AHA that is over 3,600 words. Really? I've never had to do anything so ridiculous to get proof of my training completion. It took another hour on the phone between calling both the AHA and CTC to arrange to have a card mailed to me. Too much time. Next time I'll know better. read more

Finally, a permanent, year-round alternate to PCC CLIMB! Bubba, take us crappy fishing--- PRONTO! Nice facility, nice class sizes, nice instructors, fast pace, little down/superfluous time wasted. They even offer some classes in evenings and on weekends! Woot! read more

I have taken CPR, ACLS, And PALS from Cascade for the last several years. I have the highest praise for the instructors, the classroom, the convenience. Josh Adams always gives classes, and leaves you with more science knowledge than you came to class with. If you are taking these classes for the 1st or 50th time...take them with Cascade, you will not be dissapointed! read more

I attended a BLS course through this company and never received my renewal card, nor was I uploaded into the e-card verification system. I was removed from my company's schedule as a result with significant lost wages. I had to fight through email and phone calls to receive my card, which took days and multiple missed shifts. I would strongly advise using another company as this one will cause you employment liability. read more

Excellent place to get your recerts. I have been taking ACLS for over 30 years and yet they were able to make it interesting! Have classes frequently and are efficiently run. I tell everyone to go there. Several great places for lunch nearby the macadam site also. read more

We had a small class when I did my Healthcare CPR recert, the instructer was knowledgable and answered questions for the class. We got lots of hands on time, and he made sure that everyone knew what they where doing. I would recommend Cascade Training Center to anyone who needs to be certified or recertified in CPR!!! read more

My CPR (BLS for healthcare providers) class was actually somewhat enjoyable. The instructor was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I did not like that I had to pay 20 dollars for the AHA book, especially because we didn't even open the book, but I understand that the AHA is likely responsible for that. As a nurse, I have been through this many times, but our trainer brought some new evidence based insight. He even told us how to find the articles that he used for the information. I do not really enjoy CPR classes, but this one was better than other ones I have done in the past. read more

I've taken a few ACLS and BLS courses in my day, but I honestly think this was the best. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable, yet did not make the students feel inadequate at all. Sometimes you get those instructors that think they know everything, and really ride the students hard, but I saw none of that here. It was very professional, the learning environment was perfect, and I even met some new friends. I will definitely be recommending the Portland Cascade training center to my colleagues and using them in the future. My instructor was Josh, and other instructors were Bubba, Ida, Anita (I think), and a few more. Also, there's a coffee shop in the same building, and that's always a plus! read more

This is a great training center. The staff is very friendly and they know what they are doing. It's nice to see instructors who truly enjoy teaching. I have taken two recert classes here and both have been great. The facility is quite nice. Josh is one of the best instructors/teachers I have encountered in decades of recerts. Literally. He has a great fund of knowledge so that these courses are not just spilling back what you memorized from the text. And yet, during the practice sessions, the correct information is easy to distill and apply to the written test. The practical mega codes are collegial and friendly. I highly recommmend this organization for ACLS and PALS. read more

I'm an ER nurse and I recently completed my PALS and ACLS with Cascade and overall, they both were fairly enjoyable, especially for a 9-5 class. It went by quickly and our main instructor, Beth, was enthusiastic and kept our attention well with her quirky (her words, not mine!) personality, good clinical examples and little jokes here and there. I always appreciate an experienced instructor. My main reason for rating them 4 stars is that I found with both classes that all the codes we went through were not consistent among each of the instructors (1-2 other instructors join in for the hands-on stations and mega codes tests). For instance, one teacher would make us go through a code without any pretend time so that the recorder role could practice tracking time, but another would just say "two minutes have passed" after 30 seconds and be surprised that the other instructor did the code for 2 sets of 2 min (if you've gone through ACLS, you'd understand what I mean, otherwise, this is probably confusing haha!). It's not a big deal, but compared to my other ACLS/PALS courses, I felt that Cascade's instructors were not as uniform in their mega codes. I liked in my past courses that our scenarios/codes, seemed more scripted and organized, though I liked that Cascade didn't follow an exact checklist. Anyway, like I said, not a big deal, maybe just a personal preference. Also, I felt less prepared for the ACLS test at the end this time around, but that could just mean I should have done more preparation before the class. I would recommend the courses offered though and would take them again. read more

I'm a nurse practitioner and this is the second time I've renewed my BLS at Cascade and the staff has been excellent both times. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I took the First Aid and CPR HeartSaver class this past weekend at TV F&R in Aloha/Beaverton. This was my second time taking this class, to renew my certificates. I was impressed this time around as my instructor, Steve R., led a great class. He was detail oriented, gave great insight, and related everything to everyday scenarios. The only downside was having only one 10 minute break. They website should advise you to bring food for the day since the First Aid and CPR class is 7 hours. Overall, it is a great course and the instructor this time around was easy to learn from. I highly recommend this class! read more

Cascade's Portland training Center is a great place to take ACLS, PALS, or other courses. The are friendly and accommodating and make the material interesting. Recently did my CPR/BLS for Healthcare providers. As someone not currently in the Healthcare field I was probably the least-qualified individual in the class. That being said the amazing instructors took their time, explained everything thoroughly and answered my 10,000 questions, all the while being prompt and efficient. Top marks. read more
