Was in need of a bathing suit, so I pulled up to see what they had. I immediately saw 2 racks of $5 clothing items. There were various things laid out over the perimeter of their sidewalk area- it was full, but organized & still able to walk around. Everything else was marked full price. I sorted through the $5 racks and pulled 4 shirts. Inside was full, but everything was organized by type. Maybe a little pricey- but this is tourism. I'm not surprised at pricing. I asked about the bathing suit and he asked what size I was looking for (adding "if you don't mind saying".) I told him, and he & a lady in the store showed me a few bikinis they had; but it wasn't what I was looking for. As I checked out, the owner was nice and asked if I was having a nice day, and said he hoped I was. I said "I hope you're having a nice day too!"; and he said "Every day is a nice day!" very smiley, nothing to be concerned about. The lady that was there was obviously working hard, it looked like they were pulling items in from the sidewalk. I believe the "50% off everything" signs next door was a different business. Later in the evening, I stopped by again because my husband needed a hat. It was around 9pm and Google said that it was open till 10pm; unfortunately they were closed. You could see everything from the sidewalks packed into the tight aisles, and it was kind of a mess; but in my mind, they have a small store-front space, and that's non of my business as long as products are clean when they're put out. read more

What a bad excuse for a business owner...seen signs that read everything must go 50% off...I went in shopping and EVERYTHING I took to the register he told me was not 50% off....he was so rude when I question the signs in the window. He told me goodbye have a nice day don't want you here.....don't go in he is a very mean person and does not honor what he advertises!!! We were actually walking down the street to enter this gift shop with my extended family and two small children when a bald man yelled out to us from his pick up truck window in a nasty tone that no strollers were allowed in the store. He was extremely rude and belligerent and proceeded to say he was the owner of the shop. Seemed like a junky place and he was clearly a horrible human. That's a really good way to keep people out of your shop. Just wanted a few gifts for my two small kids, which we got at a much nicer gift shop down the road. I would avoid this store and this guy! This place is unbelievable. The bald guy that works there is chaotically abrasive and basically chased us out of the store. The store is in such a condition that it appears multiple stores worth of merchandise was dumped in the middle of the floor. There are no aisles to speak of, and parts of the store are blocked off by merchandise piled on the floor. My guess is this must be the only gift and souvenir shop in Brigantine Beach, and he doesn't really care. I'm sure there must be some kind of story here, but as a tourist, I don't have time to learn it and I don't really care. Most of my childhood was spent in Brigantine and I finally returned as an adult and found this gift shop in hopes to get a few t-shirts. The store's sidewalk was a complete cluttered mess and the inside was somehow worse. My sister and I were browsing the souvenir t-shirts when I hear who I now know is the owner making a comment towards us. Despite the fact that the display was a complete utter mess, it was the end of the world apparently that we were unfolding the shirts to see their sizes. I was even putting shirts back where they belonged instead of where I found them. After his rude and snarky comments, we just left without purchasing anything. We got in to Brigantine for the first time and wanted to check out the local businesses when we stumbled into this store, literally. There were so many cheap looking products out on the sidewalk that you could barely walk. Inside was no different, wall to wall cheaply printed t shirts and sweatshirts as well as other random "beachy" things. We could barely walk it was so cluttered. Then we heard the employee, a bald middle aged man, speaking to some other customers with a rude and condescending tone, making off color jokes and comments, so we decided to just leave. Turns out he was actually the owner, Marc, who was also our Airbnb host for the upcoming week. We had already had an awful experience with him through Airbnb leading up to the week and now this... bottom line is I would never shop here, or rent from him again. I have had several weird interactions with the owner of the store (snarky and rude comments) but after tonight I will NEVER go back. I pulled up to the store, and the owner was standing outside. He saw my mixed race children get out of our car and told them that the store was closed. Before we pulled away, we noticed another man walk into his store, and that the doors to the store were wide open. My mother (a white woman) went back ten minutes later to see if the hours were posted on the door. He and the clerk were more interested in chasing us out of the store then selling merchandise. It does not add up. All the negative reviews are on the mark. Is the store a front for something else? We visited this store in the beginning of the week of the vacation. The first time walking in, the door was wide open so we all walked in. We were browsing in the disarray of junk until we encountered by the owner of the store telling us he wasn't ready for us to be in, he would be ready in two days. So we left. We just went there today and the store was in the exact same condition it was in the other day. As we are looking, the store owner is badgering us asking if we found anything. Stopped in to take a look bc they had cute pieces out on the sidewalk. When we walked in, they were clearly doing inventory bc of stuff everywhere so we politely asked if they were open to clarify. We would've been happy to come back at a better time. However, they confirmed that they were open but then kept telling us where we could and could not go, step and walk. Not so much as a "pardon our appearance" but we, as customers, were more of an nuisance and inconvenience to these local shop owners who were clearly annoyed that we were browsing. In complete agreement with the others that say less than one star would be the preferred rating. The owner, Mark, is a rude, snarky, sarcastic, nasty guy. To the Yelper that said they went during inventory....no, it was not inventory time; the store is like that all the time. A major tripping hazard, and I'm frankly surprised nobody sued him yet or was injured. The place is always a heaping mess of stuff. The City should close him down until the aisles are safer for patrons. And why, you might ask, have I been in there enough to know this? Why on earth would I keep going back in? There are not a lot of stores in Brigantine, and it was always fun to stop in during a bike ride or to find something specific on sale. The operative word here is "WAS". I will continue north on the island to the better stores with nicer, decent people. At the end of this summer (2016), I finally vowed never to go back again. I heard his nasally voice tell a young child "hey little girl, don't go there, can't you see that you can't get through there. Don't touch anything there". This was said to a young child who would not have had a clue which way to turn in that maze of clutter. He then said something really nasty about a customer that had just left and insulted a pre-teen girl who was overweight by telling her to shop in the boy's department to get something to fit her. However, there will always be tourists that are attracted by all the fun-looking product out on the sidewalk or that need to bring home a souvenir. Really, I am surprised that people have taken so much abuse from him. The general information on the island is that his father owned the entire block, including the apartments above the stores, and everything was handed to this rude person, and he must have enough money that he can be as nasty as he wants because he has plenty of money. I know of at least15 people that will never go in his store again, or the second one he opened right up the road this summer, but our lost business will not hurt him. You can buy the same stuff on Amazon or at a nicer shop with nicer people on the island....there are a couple if you keep heading North. What a horrible person the owner is. We were shopping in there and you could immediately tell he was a grumpy person by the way he was taking to his staff. I guess he is going out of business (maybe all the negative reviews he has here), anyway I grabbed a umbrella and started to open it as there where no pictures of it. I walked in to look for a t shirt with my daughters but before I even got in the employee told me they weren't open yet which is fine because it was still early. As I started to back out the employee said, "and we don't have room for your stroller in here." Very low level of customer service. I thought that was a very rude comment to make when first of all I was leaving anyway. Second of all, if you can't accommodate a stroller, how will you accommodate a wheel chair?
