Brigantine Beach Gift Shop

Was in need of a bathing suit, so I pulled up to see what they had. I immediately saw 2 racks of $5…read moreclothing items. There were various things laid out over the perimeter of their sidewalk area- it was full, but organized & still able to walk around. Everything else was marked full price. I sorted through the $5 racks and pulled 4 shirts. Inside was full, but everything was organized by type. Maybe a little pricey- but this is tourism. I'm not surprised at pricing. I asked about the bathing suit and he asked what size I was looking for (adding "if you don't mind saying".) I told him, and he & a lady in the store showed me a few bikinis they had; but it wasn't what I was looking for. As I checked out, the owner was nice and asked if I was having a nice day, and said he hoped I was. I said "I hope you're having a nice day too!"; and he said "Every day is a nice day!" very smiley, nothing to be concerned about. The lady that was there was obviously working hard, it looked like they were pulling items in from the sidewalk. I believe the "50% off everything" signs next door was a different business. Later in the evening, I stopped by again because my husband needed a hat. It was around 9pm and Google said that it was open till 10pm; unfortunately they were closed. You could see everything from the sidewalks packed into the tight aisles, and it was kind of a mess; but in my mind, they have a small store-front space, and that's non of my business as long as products are clean when they're put out.

Watched like a hawk as we played with these a-peeling tchotchkes by a twenty something worker, a teenaged Lorenzo Lamas. Relieved and walked away only after putting the chicken down. Must have thought we were going to make a speedy getaway with the chickens. Maybe he was afraid we were going to choke it. For your convenience, there are large signs indicating you are being watched by cameras. So smile ! :)

There's nothing particularly wrong with this, it just is bad form that kind of bothered me. The cashier also seemed disinterested and unhappy. It really is an incredible place and if you are willing to put in the time you might find something you want or need. Lots of furniture from all eras in various levels of condition, tons of glassware, outdoor decor, cookware, and fading framed photos. My wife and I had a lot of fun looking through everything. Their prices are all over the place. Sometimes they are marked with reasonable prices and other times they are asking outrageous amounts for junk. Don't be afraid to bargain though as they cut me a decent deal for the random piece of glass countertop I found. My favorite finds for my particular visit were the 20 framed copies of a purple glitches Mona Lisa, and the bin FULL of uncarved keys organized by type.
