This place is like Heaven to me. SOOOO many beautiful plants and trees, I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it! Picked up a bunch of Gorgeous Polynesian trees. (We are Polynesian and wanted some trees that remind us of home.) We were so excited to find them and are extremely happy they had them! Can't wait to get them in the ground :-) oh and the people here are Friendly and don't hound you like some other places do. And they let you drive through and look so you don't have to get out unless you see something you like. Prices aren't bad, too! Terrible customer service. Walked into the little hut where the customer service reps were working to ask about an orange tree. No one greeted me or said hello until I did. Everyone looked like they hated their lives working there, just beyond miserable human beings. When I asked about the orange tree they said we don't have any and I can go look myself. Mind you, to a nursery I've never been to nor do I know where to look. The tall guy with the beard was snarky and said there's a quarantine hold on the citrus. Umm ok. Never going here again. Unfortunately, I'll never come back here. I'm perfectly okay with the fact that this nursery keeps its prices down by providing less customer service and such, but we asked for some simple professional advice on how to safely secure a 10 foot magnolia tree on a pickup truck to drive down to San Diego. They helped us strap up the tree, told us that was fine, and the tree ended up snapping 8 inches from the base on the way home. We were absolutely devastated. When we called and asked if there's anything they could do to help us, partial refund, return, advice, anything...they said no, basically "we got our money, eff you." My husband and I have a ton of landscaping that we're planning to do in our yard, and we plan to spend some dollars on plants and trees over the next several months. But now that I know this place won't help their customers when something bad happens, we won't be spending that money here. They could have gained customers for life but they aren't interested I guess. read more

Hello, On Friday morning, 2/21/2025, my father and I came to this nursery for a tree purchase unknowingly walking into an experience we have never been through before. My father is Latin American, in his late 70's and has a posture that seems like he may have mobility issues. As my father approached the counter to purchase the 9' tree, the female middle-aged employee responded to my father's polite request for help with, "what about that guy? Can't he help?" My father patiently explained that it was a 9' tree and that he needed assistance. She responded, "no we can't ". My father then walked away to find another nursery that helps elderly customers with tree purchases loading. What else is there to do in a pandemic?? You start planting anything you can! Work on your lawn, back yard, garden... anything. I really like this nursery. I love the mature fruit trees. A lot of the fruit trees are fruiting and established. They also have many many different passion fruit! With fruit on it too!! We went to Green Thumb last year and our passion fruit still hasn't fruited. We bought a ruby grapefruit. Probably come back and get a passion fruit tree. It's good for privacy! Anyway, I would love to see some berries and more herbs. Otherwise, likes it's name, it's know for more of mature trees. read more

Bought 5 "Royal Trumpet Vines" for several hundred dollars. The sales people assured me the flowers were purple and I confirmed with them several times and even confirmed with photos. They told me these were the only trumpet vines they sold. 3 months later and they are blooming and they are "Blood Red Trumpet Vines". Incredibly disappointed. Was going for a cottage aesthetic around my 150 foot fence and now I am stuck with a South American red flower aesthetic. Completely deceived and will lie to you to get a purchase. No refunds, no returns, no nothing. Go somewhere else that cares about the customer. read more

After the buyout of my beloved local Evergreen Nursery I was on the hunt for other options for my plant shopping and one option that was suggested was Briggs. I went to check it out yesterday and I'm glad I did! This is way out in Southeast Vista. It's a drive thru nursery, so you can drive to the area with the plants you want, load up, come to the front and check out. I was after some annuals to renew my garden and those are right near the front. Huge selection, reasonable priced - annual flowers, ground cover, vibes, trees, palms - they have it all! They also had quite a few veggie and herb starts, though some were looking a little worse for wear this late in the season. Also, AMAZING dahlias that I desperately wanted to figure out where to plant some at home. Most of the full Sun annual flowers were $1.99 in a 4" pot, and a nice discount if you bought a full flat (16 pots in a flat). Very pleased with my trip to Briggs and I'll very likely be back! read more

Purchased two acacia baileyana and one week later they were both dead. Followed their watering instructions to a tee - and this was just before all the recent rains, so watering was not the issue. Supposed to be drought tolerant anyway. Planted one and left one in the 24-inch box. Both died at the same time. Contacted the nursery and, low and behold, they don't have any guarantees on plants. While I understand to a degree, good customer service would have dictated they replace the products with something of value, say, half of the $500 we spent. Not the case. They hold no responsibility. Hard to believe something "we" did killed these trees within one week of bringing them home. Could almost find a reason why the planted one died, but not for the one that was still in the original wood box. Won't be going back!! read more

We are currently undergoing landscaping renos in our front year. We decided to make the trek up to Briggs in Vista due to the wide selection and the ability to drive around to look for our plants. The downside of this nursery is that if you have no clue what you want or looking for, you're SOL. There is no one to assist you while you're pursuing the field. One advice I have is to make sure you stop at the office first to pick up a map. The map all give you the types of plants in each section of the nursery and when you speak to the people up front then you may ask your questions. My husband and I came here twice - the first time to get pricing and to see what the nursery offered. The second time - we purchased our plants. We did shop around on prices of the plants we wanted, and some of the plants were cheaper here at Briggs. This is a self serve, so load up your vehicle and drive to the front to make your purchase. Sign up as first time for their rewards program and take an additional 10% off. This is on the map. Make sure you mention it otherwise they won't offer it to you, which kind of irked me. read more

These people are flat out rude. We've been here several times and each time we feel worse and worse. But now it's official we're done going here. After spending hundreds of dollars on several plants and trees, we had an issue with a single rose we bought. Called in to figure out if we could work something out. The a$$ on the phone was beyond rude. Just repeating no exchanges plants are the way they are nothing they can do etc, etc... as if I wanted them to replace everything I purchased or something... Long story short if you want to feel stupid for asking questions while you're there (if you manage to find an employee) or talked to like an second class citizen this is the nursery for you!! Otherwise you're better off going anywhere even Home Depot. Heck at least they'll accept returns on dead plants even if it was your fault. (Which BTW I wasn't trying to return a dead plant, they just sold me the wrong type of rose, range it up incorrectly and apparently if my fault...) read more

They stated on the bottom of our invoice, once any plants, groundcover, trees, etc leave their property, there's no guarantee. No other nursery has that type of policy. I have very mixed feelings about this place. As a nursery, it's great, visited this last weekend really liked the way the place is organized, the inventory and pricing when you can find it. Finding pricing is hit and miss. Around the office things seem to be labeled fairly well, but the farther out you go, the fewer tags there are telling you what a plant is and how much it costs. We got there about an hour before closing and about half hour before they close we started getting people telling us to GTFO. OK understood, closing time is a hard out. That's fine, but we were basically chased out about 20 minutes before their posted closing time. No worries, we'll come back. Well, skipped a couple hours off of work to shoot back up on Monday. Found what I wanted and check out. On the way out we notice that we were over charged a few bucks each on several plants. When I asked they looked it up in the computer and first said, oh I see it now. Then a moment later another person says nope they are the same and the first person says yup they are the same. Odd, almost seemed like they changed it on the fly? Not sure, but the plants are right by the office so lets go have a look. I walk out there with the sales person and she grabs the tag and says, "yup it's wrong, I'll fix it." She meant the posted price is wrong and she'll fix the tag and not sorry for the confusion, I'll give you the $9 difference on your $250 purchase. She went on to say, the owners won't allow that, the posted price isn't always right. This was one of the first items coming in the gate, right by the office and not some faded old tag in the dirt out in the back 40. Now I could see if the posted price was way out of line, like $20 for a $100 plant or something. Or if this was way out on the edge of the property and had some ancient tag, but it wasn't. Honestly it wasn't even about the money, it was the attitude and just the idea that you'd rather piss off a current and future customer over a few bucks. And even there if there was some sincere attitude about the whole thing I would have been fine. They just said, nope, can't do that, call the owners. It's $9, I'm not going to call the owners over that, but I will write a review about it so other people know how the place works. Again, torn about the place. As a nursery I like it a lot. Enough that I drove up from the middle of San Diego twice in a few to load up and made a bunch of plans to do a lot more. Then feeling like I should just not bother with them anymore since they don't really care to at least fake some sincerity to try and keep someone happy, and that's all it would have taken. read more

I was going to say to check the signs and the prices (when you can find them) but that won't make a difference since they clearly don't honor the prices listed on them. When the sales person said she would not honor the price on the plants we bought because it was wrong, another employee looked it up in their system and said that it was the same price listed on the sign, which was $39.99. We also showed her the sign which was a few steps away from the office, she still wouldn't honor the price. They charged us $43.99 per plant. We bought several, they were already loaded up so we just paid it and went on our way. I get that sometimes there are conflicting price issues with sales, but to treat the customer so rudely about it is pretty lame. Doesn't give me the warm fuzzies to return any time soon. read more

I was going to rate them with a one star because of a woman the office counter was very rude to me over the phone this morning. They charged me for two five gallon, Argyranthemum plants which I didn't buy. I explained the situation, but the woman was short and said that I should have checked my receipt. After that interaction, I was furious and vowed never to shop there again. However, I decided to give them another chance to see how they rectified my overcharge. I wasn't disappointed when I encountered Angela at the counter. She credited my account and apologized for the poor customer service. Angela along with Marty (guy outside with a beard and hat) are wonderful! So, not everyone there is grumpy. This place offers wholesale prices and has a large inventory of plants and trees. They are open to the public besides vendors and contractors. Being self-service, you need to do your own research before shopping there because every plant isn't labeled. Their website has an extensive plant database and they have a strict return policy. If you have small children or pets, beware of planting toxic plants in your yard. I bought some five-gallon Euphorbia tircualli, aka "Sticks of Fire." They are popular, colorful, and drought tolerant. The sap is irritating to skin and possibly toxic to small children and pets. It helps to know the botanical name besides common name of the plant when visiting. read more

We checked out Briggs, trying to find some vegetable plants. There are so many plants, succulents, and trees but unfortunately no veg...We asked but they said they really don't have that there, maybe a tomato plant or two. I would say however that this is a viable place if you have a big project. Note They do sell to the public even though the name suggests it's a Wholesale only nursery. Just keep in mind that this places does a lot of wholesale sales and the lot is full or work trucks. If you need service or questions this probably isn't your place. If you're doing large orders they have a bunch of people to help load your truck up front. - Check out Grangettos if you're looking for no-GMO vegetables. read more

Don't expect to find many staff around to help you answer and pick out plants. The plants here are decently priced and are definitely healthier than other nurseries. Lots of options to pick from. While at Briggs I noticed Milkweed, I asked them if the growers used any kind of pesticide on the milkweed and was told no. However it is quit apparent that after having the milkweed in my garden that is it indeed toxic. I raise Monarchs and every single one that I gave that plant to started throwing up, which is a sign of poisoning. I called and asked who their Milkweed supplier is and the woman would not tell me. I have called twice looking for the answer and they are keeping closed lips. DO NOT buy milkweed from them if you care at all about saving an endangered species. read more

Horrible customer service. Extremely rude. If you are not a contractor yourself, you are not welcome here. Was made fun of for asking a question. Came to pick up an order that was placed 3 days in advance. Sat waiting for 30 minutes to get help to locate the plants. Was told to go look in the fields and was told they probably wouldn't be labeled. I'm pregnant and not a plant expert. Walked around in mud feeling lost and clueless so I went back for help for the 5th time. Finally found them all in a completely different area. Loaded my car... got home and my landscaper who was waiting for me said they were 1 gallon plants that clearly had just been moved into 5 gallon size buckets and he could not transplant due to their recent move. I paid 5 gallon price for a ton of 1 gallon plants and landscaper can't event use. Will rehire landscaper to come back and plant in a week. Feels like they moved the 1 gallons into 5 upon me placing the order just to charge more. Waste of several hundred dollars. And all could have been avoided with a little better customer service.
