We even thought to ask amateur photographer friends, but realized it is our wedding and our day only happens once. What if our moments weren't captured? With so many what ifs, we didn't want to take the risk. After all, this was an investment to capture beautiful moments of our special day. My bestie Bev and I looked at different styles of wedding photography. I loved bright, vibrant photos and really didn't like typical dreamy look wedding pictures has these days. With that in mind, my bestie found Mike "Pupfish" Burton on The Knot. After looking over a few more photographers, Dominic and I later went through all our options and pulled the trigger with an inquiry sent to Pupfish. Mike's replies are so quick and detailed. He likes to get to know the couple to see if we're a good fit by setting up a FaceTime or Skype appointment. The stress of wedding planning, crazy work hours and lack of sleep took the best of me. I had a moment an hour before our scheduled appointment, I contacted Mike to reschedule. He was sweet, understanding and flexible and worked with me to find a new time. An hour went by and I felt a lot better, so we kept our original FaceTime appointment. I'm so glad I did. Meeting Mike Burton at Pupfish Wedding Photography through FaceTime was incredible. He spent two hours with Dominic and I chatting, exchanging stories, answering questions. It was honestly like chatting with an old friend. He served in our military as a part of surveillance team which was ironic because both Dominic & I's fathers served in both branches Mike served. We learned so much about each other and he even honored a military discount. After we hung up, Dominic and I knew Mike was "The One". We contacted him within minutes and a contract was signed. We invested in an awesome wedding photographer!!! We also received a free engagement shoot with our wedding photography package. Score! Just like the FaceTime conversation, Mike is sooo easy going and flexible in all our exchanges. He is not pretentious and very professional! We had so much fun at our engagement shoot and our pictures were so beautiful! He knows how to give direction without making us feel awkward and knows how to capture each of us to shine in the moment. By the way, we received our engagement photos in TWO days! Typical turnaround time for photography is a week plus. We were blown away by the speed and quality. The way our photos turned out proves his natural talent. It was of great relief to know our wedding day was in good hands! Our wedding was at the beach at sunset. Mike warned us on the difficulties of capturing beach photos because of the hard, unfiltered light. Our day began with a thick, marine layer fog. I admit I was a bit bummed, but then remembered what Mike said and was happy we would still have beautiful pictures. Half an hour before start time, the wind blew all the fog away and the sun was absolutely radiant. Mike was still able to produce the most beautiful pictures even with the hard sun conditions! We originally didn't schedule Mike to shoot our dinner reception (separate location), but Mike came along and took shots of our guests and our big entrance as Mr & Mrs. He engaged with our friends and family and left quite an impression with everyone he met. He worked so hard and made sure we had shots we wanted and we were soooo appreciative! Dominic's sister's father in law, a videographer, loved Mike so much, he will be sending him his business. Again, this speaks volumes of who Mike is. Our wedding day was one of the best days of my life. I'm so happy Mike was there to celebrate Dominic and I. Once again, he turned our wedding pictures around in less time than promised and the quality speaks for themselves. We have so many favorites, the toughest part is to pick which pics to enlarge. :) I obviously cannot say enough about Mike "Pupfish" Burton. His calm and relaxed demeanor made what could have been a potentially stressful day, a joyful experience full of laughter. From that moment on we knew this was who we wanted to shoot our big day. The first thing that attracted us to working with Mike was the photos in his websites' portfolio. It is immediately apparent that he has a talented eye for capturing natural intimacy in candid photos. We appreciated the lack of artifice that so many other wedding photographers lean on. If you are looking for a similar aesthetic for your wedding day we cannot recommend Mike enough. Mike gets to know you as he photographs you. By the end of our wedding night, it was like we were old friends. He does an amazing job of getting the groom & groomsmen to relax while he takes photos. Speaking only for myself as the groom, I'd never done a photo shoot before. Mike knew exactly how to coach me and the guys so we wouldn't look stiff and awkward in our photos. Mike did not get in the way of our guests during the reception. He blended in so well, we didn't even notice him as he was capturing all of the little moments throughout the night. It wasn't until he sent us our finished photos that we saw just how much he got on film for us to remember forever.

I heard about Christina from a postcard while I was pregnant. Prior to receiving the card it had…read morenever occurred to me to get professional pics of the baby done - but as soon as I got it I immediately thought "this woman is genius." I mean - there were babies and buckets, and then the babies were in the buckets and I melted. So, before even knowing if our little sprout was a boy or a girl - we booked a "newbie" session with Christina. She is so easy to work with. The way the newbie session works is that you book while you're pregnant and then you just give her a little shout out when the stork drops off your bundle. She is such a pro that she arranges her schedule so that she can always fit in the newbie session in that precious first week. She answers email and phone calls promptly and isn't annoyed by excessive question asking. So, I let her know when our baby (a gorgeous little chap) arrived and she responded almost immediately with three options for times that would work. She also made it clear though that if that didn't work for me - she would find a time that did. We settled on a date five days after he was born. Prior to her arriving she let me know where in the house she would want to work (the room with lots of light and warmth). Christina arrived on time and smiling. She brought her entire studio with her - it really was something to see! She had rugs and buckets and hats, oh my! She set up in my little guys room and then gave me the option of either staying and watching or not. I stayed and had SO MUCH FUN picking out little hats and colors of throws that I loved and scarves and this and that. She really does have a wonderful touch with the little ones. He happily let her arrange him in the above-mentioned buckets and dress him in hats, etc. The stuff she was doing with him was so cute I thought I would scream. Also, she was just so easy to talk to. Truly I just enjoyed having her there. The other thing that pleased me about working with Christina is that she consistently delivers everything before promised. Her turn around time isn't even long to begin with - but every time she delivered early. Our proofs, our online gallery, and eventually our prints as well. I love early. The photos that we got are amazing and something that we will treasure forever. Everyone that has received one has commented on just how beautiful they are. I'm learning quickly that the little people grow incredibly fast and I'm so so so thankful that I got that card from Christina and that we made the decision to do these photos. Extremely disappointed in Jason Hudson for so many reasons. Very unprofessional, didn't fulfill…read morehis contract with us, never met with us, I tried to schedule our engagement photos per our contract and for one reason or another he had a reason/excuse as to why we couldn't do it. We had paid him 2 of our 3 installments and then we had to move our wedding out a year because the hotel had to cancel weddings that they had scheduled because of Covid. Jason insisted that we pay him the remaining 3rd of our balance which we didn't feel was right. The day of our wedding Jason showed up looking very professional, behaved as though he didn't want to be there, had to be asked to take photos of special moments by another person attending our wedding, we also had to ask him to take photos that he should have taken on his own with out having been asked to. When he finally sent me the photos 2 months later, I had to ask him for photos that I knew he took but never sent...we received approximately 350 photos total with approximately 50 of those being of the table setting, cake and flowers. I reached out to him to talk about various things to see why and what happened as we had heard such a different review of him, to which he responded that he wouldn't be talking to me anymore and that his contract had been fulfilled! When he sent us our photos it states that if we couldn't give him a 5 star review to reach out to him. I tried and he had no desire to do so. You can't make it right, that's 1 special day and there is way to go back and fix it. At this point we wouldn't do the session he owes us and we paid for because of his attitude. I felt compelled to write this review in hopes that it doesn't happen to someone else.
