So, in other words, if you don't get an A you fail your assignments. I withdrew, brought this to the attention of the Dean, and asked for financial credit so I could take another course instead. She did not respond but simply forwarded my concern to a registrar who refused to do anything about it. The registrar said, wrongly, that the professor was acting in accord with HES policy. The grading system on the website does not in point of fact map onto the grading system of all the professors. So be forewarned that you may end up with a professor who will give you an F if you get less than an A. Don't waste your money at HES and don't expect the administration to act justly. I've matriculated a different program. HES just lost the 30K they would have made if they would have simply rendered a just decision.

There are no Financial Aid options coming from the university itself, and 2 out of 3 student loan companies that their office recommends actually don't really accept Extension School students. The third one needs a lot of extra paperwork that the school isn't willing to help with. In order to enroll you need to pay in full and you don't get a letter of enrollment until after the drop out period, when it's too late. You can't get a loan without paying and you can't get enrolled without a loan. So it's a chicken and egg situation that has no end. They say the university helps cover for you until the loan is approved, but in reality, you have to pay in full first and they will reimburse you after the loan is paid. Which defies the entire point of asking for financial assistance. There is a very short window in which to apply for the loan after registration before being dropped out for non-payment. Paperwork takes more than a month, which is not nearly enough to get everything done. I've spent hours and hours with both the lending officers and the financial aid officers, and in the end, nothing got solved. Nothing. I am unable to join the courses. I am unable to get a loan. I feel like my potential is wasting away... Harvard has failed me.

My son cannot wait to attend and also without prompting will willingly do the preparation that may be needed for each class. His knowledge and passion has increased extensively. He is learning so much and feels confident and has a real sense of self, especially in the computer programming area. The smaller class sizes, positive attitudes of the teachers and their care of my sons learning is so appreciated. The kids mainly hung out in the main room working on legos, and others stayed on Minecraft for the whole time. - My one caveat was that it's very boy-oriented stuff. The girls we took didn't find much interest in legos or Minecraft. So, they weren't that thrilled to be there. - There is a 3D scanner in an adjacent building; you can have your body scanned and turned into a 3-D sand sculpture. Creepy/cool! -

Our daughter specifically asked to visit MIT during our trip to Boston, and it ended up being one…read moreof the highlights of her visit. As a parent, there's something special about watching your child stand in front of a place they've only heard about and start imagining what their future could look like. We spent time walking around campus, taking photos, and soaking in the atmosphere. What stood out most was how much the campus felt like a place where people are actively building and creating things. There was an energy to it that was hard to describe but easy to feel. We also had a memorable moment when a professor kindly let us inside one of the buildings. It wasn't something we expected, but it gave us a glimpse into the community and generosity that can make a place feel welcoming rather than intimidating. Even if you're not a prospective student, MIT is worth visiting for the architecture, history, and sense of innovation that seems to be woven into the campus. For our daughter, it was inspiring. For us, it was fun to see her dream a little bigger.

The teachers, the curriculum and the facility are positively amazing. I cannot say enough about how pleased we are with our experience. We live a decent distance away from the school and Jack's mom drives him from our home on the South Shore to Newton... To those of you from the area, I hope this points out just how great we think the school is, that we'd travel that far. We look forward to Jack's third year with the school next year!

The school itself... pristine... locked/gated/beautiful grounds and play areas. The place is safe, the teachers are AMAZING... they care and they know what they are doing. The activities, learning plan, etc.... WOW! The families... the sense of unity in the various families who attend this school... WOW! I really cant express how amazing this place is. My daughter is learning so much from the curriculum and it is effortless. The encouragement, professional staff, cleanliness, lesson plans, overall environment... it just cant be matched. If you attend, do NOT get tickets in the literal first row. We were crunched with no leg room against the stage. The bathrooms here are tiny and not accessible. Always a good time with the family with good seats. Parking can be tough around the area but there are nearby train stations. Wheelock, has productions with seasoned actors, upcoming teenagers and younger kids. During the day, they have classes from character development to technical theater prep.
