Our son started in the infant room at just 8 months old, and now, at 14 months, he's thriving in the toddler room. Watching his growth over these past few months has been amazing, and we owe so much of that to the wonderful, caring staff. When he first started, it was a big transition--he had been home with me since birth, and adjusting to a new environment and new caregivers was tough. He cried a lot and had trouble napping at first. But the staff was so patient and gentle with him through it all. Their support and consistency helped him feel safe and loved, and it made all the difference. Now, he's excited to go to school--he even runs into the classroom and forgets to say goodbye! As a parent, there's nothing better than knowing your child feels happy, secure, and cared for. We had the most amazing teacher (Mars) with our toddler class. When our son moved up to early pre-school we started noticing problems, mainly with turnover of teachers. If you look at the staff picture wall by the entrance only a handful of teachers have been there longer than a year. We also noticed that staff can be very stressed at times due to being shuffled around from class to class. We finally left (intending it to be temporary) due to our second child being born. Our son had his pictures taken right before we gave our notice and requested to purchase it as well but we never heard back after multiple attempts. TL:DR Depending on the teacher that you have your experience can vary by a lot. If management can do a better job with keeping the staff less stressed/happy I don't think we would hesitate with coming back. read more

My husband and I were very impressed with Bright Horizons Longacres! We enrolled our daughter in the infant program after touring the facility and speaking to staff there. I especially liked that each age group had their own separate, age-appropriate wings at the center, and that the infants had a 4:1 child/teacher ratio. They seem to run a pretty professional center - clean, children and staff seem happy, and the daily updates via the app are really fantastic. We have had a wonderful experience with this Bright Horizons. We had to wait about six months for the center to find room for us, but it was well worth it. The facility is beautiful, with a spacious outdoor area for all the kids to play among the trees and grass (this is unique to any day care we found). My daughter has been going to this day care for more than a year now and we all love it. The teachers are caring and very attentive to the children, the rooms and play area are clean and spacious, the food is healthy and curriculum is great. I really like and appreciate the way Admin team is communicating all the news and the changes. The reports we get (they use the app My Bright Day to upload the information about the child's day) have the brief description of what was going on during the day. In the last few months that we've been here, we've gotten very unimpressed. They've had a shift in the center's leadership in the past few months, and since then we've noticed more and more turnover the staff. It doesn't appear that they're all "new" to the center necessarily, but that the staff keeps getting shifted around (and yes, there are also new people to the center). The last few months we were there we definitely saw several members of the staff switch through around my child's room. It makes it really hard to guarantee consistency of care, and as a parent, you want to make sure that your instructions are heard and understood. How do I know that my "no sugar" rule is being passed along and enforced by all the newbies that come rotating through? We ultimately left because we were very unsatisfied with the center's new leadership. We felt that they were better at giving excuses and not dealing with the actual behavioral issues that were going on in our child's classroom. It is hard being a parent and feeling horrible all day because you think you left your child in an unsafe environment with teachers and administrators that just don't care. This place, I will say, is probably the nicest in this area as far as square footage and maintenance (Note that this is a Boeing building and is maintained by the company - that allows them to charge lower rates.). They do have a big indoor play space which is really nice with Seattle's rainy days. They also have big playground areas. Overall, you aren't going to find a facility like this for the price. Food (once they get to eating finger foods) is included in the price (new parents hunting for daycare, make sure you ask about that!). The only reason I'm giving this place 2 instead of just 1 star after our experience is because they do have staff that is qualified and great - you just have to hope that you're lucky enough for those to be in your child's classroom. While I understand that it takes experience to be good at what you do most of the time, it's hard telling that to someone who is a parent, entrusting you with their precious kids. read more

The school has a lot of good quality teachers but a very high turn over rate. Some teachers are very judgmental and non sociable however most complain about their pay. The main director is very quiet and not very sociable which is kinda odd considering her position. The curriculum is pretty good I do admit. The teacher to child ratio is okay of course more kids per teacher as your child gets older. Lunches and breakfast etc are pretty health considering. There are better day cares and preschools out there but this is pretty centered for Boeing employees etc so it could be a trade off. I personally feel if the staff isn't happy then changes will occur such as the turn over rate... Do you mind your kid going through multiple teachers at a young age? I guess it roles down to preference and what your ok with for your child and pocket. read more

We currently have 2 kids there still. Preschool and toddler - the team at BH Longacres is as amazing as ever. We couldn't be more happy there. Another opportunity I just found out for teachers is that they do advancement professional development training for teachers if they want to advance in their careers in early childhood. Our son has been attending Bright Horizons at Longacres for about 4 months now. He is in the young toddlers class. We had a wonderful nanny experience prior to enrolling him in daycare, but unfortunately had a terrible in-home daycare prior to starting him at Bright Horizons. We were really apprehensive about putting our son in another daycare but were reassured only after a few days at Bright Horizons. The teachers were gentle and patient with him, knowing that he was having some difficulty with all of the transition. They gave us frequent updates throughout the day and great check ins at pickup. Now, our son is thriving at the daycare and we know it is because the staff is so wonderful and attentive. My wife and I were very skeptical about enrolling our child into any child care center. We visited most of the available centers in Renton, WA. This facility was one of the nicer facilities (we were told Boeing owns and provides upkeep to this facility). The tuition was a lot higher than most but they do provide more for your money - ie. locally grown ingredients for the provided lunches/snacks. My wife was allowed to spend 1/2 day with our child for the first week while there to get to know the teachers and other children in the room. The staff does not mind if we visit anytime of the day to spend time with our child. This is very comforting to know we can drop unannounced at any time to see our child. When picking our child up the teachers provide a "report card" each day for the feeding amounts and times, diaper change times (and if they were a wet or BM diaper changes), and any other notes from the teacher. They have a website for the parents so they can communicate with the staff, receive pictures of your child from the staff, and other communication. This gets updated weekly but sometimes they skip weeks. The teachers are very friendly and care for the individual need of the children. My child when enrolled was 3 months old and in one of the infant rooms. Although if you have issues, the Director (Dawn at this time) and some of the support staff seem fake and "canned" in their responses. This is our biggest issue with this daycare. This Center seemed to run a lot better and more friendly under previous Directors. The teachers also seemed much happier under the Director that ultimately (and unfortunately) was promoted. Our other gripe is that the security for people entering the building is lacking. Parents have a unique code to enter into a keypad upon entering that unlocks the front door however, the front door is often held open for anyone to enter. This is not good and will inevitability be rethought if/when there is a breach and an unwanted person enters the facility. read more

I moved to WA for a job with Boeing - and was faced with finding childcare for my 3 year old who had stayed home with me his first 3 years. I had heard good things about Bright Horizons but it was so much more expensive than other centers. After touring a few centers, I saw that BH was the cleanest and had the best programs. After 2months, I am more than happy! They are helping my son potty train, they provide activities like music and tumbling class, and the teachers are so good! My son has been at Bright Horizons Longacres for 2-1/12 years. I feel very confident when I drop him off that he is in a great place. This center has a very caring and talented staff, great curriculum, nutritious meals/snacks, outstanding play areas, and many opportunities for parents to feel connected. Is it expensive? No, not for the value proposition that you get. Our child has been at Bright Horizons Longacres for almost 2 years now and we can't imagine having him anywhere else. We are planning on moving to Sammamish later this year, but we are going to keep our son in this specific school because it is that good. Grandma was a school teacher for over 30 years and she was in tears after visiting the school for the first time because she was so happy with how wonderful the center we have our son in. When he had a serious medical condition, the school contacted us, alerted appropriate medical staff and Ellen spent hours with me in the hospital while we waited for his condition to stabilize. The staff is incredibly loving and caring, as well as incredibly smart. Bright Horizons Longacres staff have helped my wife and I learn how to be better parents and provide a incredibly safe and warm environment for our son to learn in and grow. read more

My son attended this school for 2 years and I have to say I was quite pleased until his last few months. It was clean, curriculum was good, nutrition good and teachers kind and caring. He spent time in 3 different rooms as he became older, which might have been a little too much for young kids (as they do enjoy consistency). He began to develop a few social and behavioral/self-regulation problems in his last classroom (pre-k) and I have to say that some of the staff/director was not accommodating to his needs. My daughter is 10 months and has been in the infant room for the past 6 months. Overall, I am very satisfied with the care and safety of my child. Miss Quiniece, Miss Dina and Miss Caitlyn are all excellent with my daughter and the other babies. They often offer up their expertise in her care, which is great since I am a new mom and collectively, they've been doing this for decades. When I am at work away from my daughter I have no doubt that she is safe and happy! It is a bit more expensive that the other care centers, but like other reviews have said, Bright Horizons is much cleaner, brighter, and more attentive to the children. My child has been going to this location since December 2011. It has been wonderful. We came from another child care company. The teachers are obviously educated and trained well to do their jobs and more. My daughter is almost 4 now and the things she learns at school about math and science are incredible. They have a handwriting program that's really fun. (they even have a phone app so we can do it at home). We get weekly journal entries online from the teacher with their observations of our daughter. They are always willing to chat when we pick up and drop off and if my chatting seems to get lengthy they offer to have a conference to discuss development more in detail. They way the teachers partner with us in doing what is best for our child is amazing. Our daughter is a little on the spirited side and the teachers came up with activities specifically for her to learn to control her body and follow directions while still having fun. Our daughter also has allergies. This year the leadership team implemented a health and safety team that posts allergies and preferences and updates them. Noe every classroom in our daughters age group has a chart with her picture and her allergies on it so she will never accidentally be given something bad for her. We like to hear about things like fire drills, evacuation rout postings, emergency backpacks, and everything this team works on. We feel the staff is prepared for anything. There was a leadership change (2 of the 4) and there have been some staffing changes, but nothing more than what we have seen with the previous leadership team. The most obvious changes for us have been the increase in classroom supplies and various environment changes. Our child's classroom now has a kitchen and dress up area that is extensive. A new writing area with journals and such. We went the other night to visit our child's toddler teacher and noticed there rooms have shelves full of toys, books that aren't ripped, and even an area with a rug, pillows, and stuffed animals to cuddle and read. Most impressive was the art area in a toddler classroom. The center has always been a warm, friendly place where we know our child is loved and getting what she needs educationally. We are pleased to see the environments being upgraded and the learning materials changing. The quality is just going up. The facility is large. The classrooms are large. The outdoor areas by far the largest we've seen. They have indoor play areas for a movement curriculum and rainy day play. There is a parent partnership group that has a reputation of over the top picky parents being rude to the admin team. However, some of us other parents have discussed joining to turn it into a place of generating ideas to show teachers appreciation and discuss the ever developing program in the classrooms. It seems child care is always changing and it would be nice to have a group to discuss how we can get on board with the best practices as soon as possible. I think we are waiting for a couple of parents with older kids to leave before we join. No one wants to spend their Wednesdays listening to parents be rude about the teachers doing their best to take care of the little people in their care. As far as we are concerned it doesn't get better than this location or this team of teachers. You would be lucky to have your child grow up here. read more

I have been taking my children to this center for the past 2 years - I have a child in the preschool and infant care. My overall experience has been excellent. My 4 year old is so excited to be dropped off everyday and my infant has quickly bonded with her teachers. The facility is wonderful - the children have so much space to play and they take advantage of the huge outdoor space with vege gardens, water play days, tricycles, etc. The curriculum is excellent - I am constantly amazed at what my children are learning every day. Most importantly, both my children feel safe and happy at this center and I am confident they are well cared for. I do not agree that turnover has been in anyway excessive. My child's teacher has actually been in the center for 20 years. They also have quite a few floater teachers that get to know all the children, so that when a teacher is out or does leave, there is always a familiar face. read more
