I have 2 kids here and have been here at the center about 4 years total now. I absolutely love this center, the admin staff (especially Gita), and the teachers. I've been through almost every age and classroom here, so I feel like I'm allowed to give this long overdue review (: Let me answer some questions for those wondering: - Why is it so expensive? - it's actually about the same for any other center-based care around here. We live in the most expensive place on earth, so that's not really a center problem (trust me I got quotes from a lot of places). But what's great is that you're paying for year-round training for all teachers, and peace of mind that your child is safe and cared for by trained professionals. They literally check on your sleeping baby every 15 mins and have to put it in a log. That's priceless. Also, this center barely closes. You get to work full time and not have to worry about paying extra for camps or other types of care. You get constant updates on an app too. - I had backup care issues - The backup care system they use is sometimes out of their control. They're not the ones deciding who gets placed/not placed here for backup care (I was nosey and asked). Also, because your kid is here temporarily, they might be slow to warm up, and may cry. That's super normal and not the center's fault. Let's not freak out if a cubby isn't labeled perfectly or if your child has a booger nose in a photo....not a big deal. - I see a lot of teacher turnover - That's unfortunately very common in this field. But, Bright Horizons provides truly amazing benefits and pays for school for these teachers, keeping them around longer. If you want to lobby for higher salaries for teachers, I suggest you take it up with the state or get involved politically somehow. - Any other question or complaint - This is group care, your kid will be with other kids. If you want 1:1 attention, you need to get a nanny (and pay double). These teachers are truly amazing, they will care deeply for your child. Also, this center has super high standards. Highly suggest looking into what NAEYC accreditation means. They have some of the lowest teacher/child ratios to make sure their attention isn't spread thin. If I could keep both my kids here until they're 15, I would. I am genuinely so thankful for everyone at this center. 5000 stars! read more

I toured this daycare with the intention of potentially enrolling my young infant, but after what I witnessed, I will not be moving forward. Before my scheduled tour even started, I was waiting outside and looking through the window into the classroom. During that time, I personally observed a teacher falling asleep while rocking a baby. The teacher was an older, heavier-set woman with white hair. This was extremely concerning to me and ultimately became the deciding factor in my decision not to enroll. I am including this description so that the center can identify the staff member involved and ensure that the situation is appropriately monitored. I understand that anyone can have a tired moment, but seeing a caregiver responsible for an infant appear to fall asleep while holding and rocking the baby immediately raised serious concerns for me about attentiveness and supervision. For me, this was a major red flag and enough to make me feel that I could not trust the daycare with my child. The tuition is also very expensive, which made it disappointing to see that relatively few things seem to be included. For example, lunch is not provided despite the high cost of tuition. At that price point, I would expect a very high level of care, supervision, and overall value. There were definitely positives. I genuinely liked the curriculum, and the playground time appeared interactive and engaging for all the age groups- from infants to TK. During the actual tour, I also saw teachers calmly and patiently handling toddlers experiencing big emotions, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, those positives weren't enough to outweigh what I witnessed before the tour even began. When you're choosing a daycare, trust and safety have to come first. Seeing a teacher appear to fall asleep while holding an infant was something I simply could not overlook. I would encourage prospective parents to tour the facility themselves and pay close attention to the classroom environment and staff attentiveness--not just the curriculum and potential. read more

My daughter attended this preschool for four days, and we had already paid for a full month of tuition. During that time, the teachers seemed more focused on taking photos to send to parents than actually engaging with the children. No one was truly playing or interacting with the kids. My daughter cried constantly, and instead of comforting her, the teachers would scare her into stopping. One particularly tall female teacher stood out -- I often saw her handling the children roughly and being physically harsh with them. I would not recommend this preschool. read more

My daughter has been in the facility for a year. She really enjoyed going to school everyday. In the beginning when she joined, she had some anxiety issue as this was the first time she was in a social environment. The teachers really gave her a lot of support to help her adjust to the class. She made a few friends in the classroom. The teachers were also loving, she kept telling me how much she loves them every day. We are really satisfied with the facility. read more

If I can give negative rating I would. This review is late but worth informing others. My child developed anxiety issues by the way his teachers treated him. They expected my toddler to behave like an adult and shamed him and me complained to me every single day. They even insinuated that there is something wrong with my child and I should go to the doctor, which my pediatrician when he heard was livid about as my child is normal active and intelligent, he just needed some affection at 2 years from his teachers . We took him out just in 3 weeks as he developed anxiety issues because of how he was treated. This one teacher scolded him in front of me and shouted NO ( when they tell me constantly that they don't say no) and he was just 2+ years old. My child goes to a much bigger and better preschool with very caring and loving teachers and is very happy. This Sunnyvale facility functions without any compassion or caring for toddlers in our experience. I should have checked the negative reviews. I cared about the wellbeing of our child and so the step to take him out. He is happy now. Management if you are listening - do a better job at hiring your teachers, your teachers are not qualified or caring. read more

Our daughter has been in this place for 4 years since the age of 6 months. Overall, Bright Horizons did a great job on growing kids, especially on set up the routines and encouraging communications. They have a complete set of rules to ensure child safty. Kids here have a good diverstiy, both on races and personality. It surprise me that even when this center is full-English education, my daughter still prefer to use Chinese at home, and can switch to English seamlessly when meeting other kids. read more

We've been at bright horizon for 2 year, our daughter enjoys going to school each day and loves her teachers ( Ms Lida and Shilpa). They are very caring and pay attention to the kids quite closely. Really appreciate the teachers taking the time to work with our kids on sel aspects dealing with other kids and handling their emotions. There was a time period of churn in teachers that was brought up in other reviews. I agree this was a tough period for us as well but it's been pretty stable for us for this last year. read more

If I can give this a very negative rating I would. This is an overdue review but it would still be very valuable to other parents. As any parents, we want the best for our children and we all know this is one of the most expensive if not the most expensive option. My child was being bitten multiple times a week and they would call and apologize. Then he picked up the habit and then they started treating him and us very badly, pointing the finger at us, making him pick up bad habits. My toddler started feeling a lot of anxiety and dreaded going in when he recognized the facility's parking lot. Teachers and staff expect him to basically behave like a grown up mature adult. They wouldn't miss an opportunity to shame us parents and blame us without being helpful. My child got scratched in the face and fore head real bad, he came home with blood on his face. As a parent, it was horrifying to see him in such state. I did cry my eyes out that day. The director and the staff said at first that he hit himself with the door handle of a little car bus they ride from the class to outside, that didn't make any sense to us, then after investigation they said it was a child who scratched his face and they had a little fight. My child's face after almost a year now has still very visible scars. Later that week again he again got scratched and I talked to the director, she said that the teacher child ratio is not suitable for him and they can't watch him all the time so these things happen, and you know what they suggested, wait for it, .., they suggested me hiring someone to come to watch him while being in daycare. So basically, hire someone privately to do their job while they are still payed over 3k per month. The director also suggested that I call a pediatrician and that my toddler had issues and he should be evaluated. As parents, we did check with a pediatrician which was beyond surprised and upset with how we were treated. My son is very social and like every kid would have his moments where he'd need redirection / supervision. They are a money/profit driven institution that doesn't care at all about you or your kids, they'd openly threaten to kick your kid out, because other kids are in the waitlist. We've been with them for a long time, miss Kimberley (the previous director) was outstanding. The new direction is a mess, rude, no compassion and terrible communicators. Stay away, you can find much better places for better prices also. My son is much happier now and we are much less anxious. read more

My kid started to go to BH @ Sunnyvale when she was 2. She has a very good time at BH, and is very motived to go to school everyday. I see a lot of improvements and growth when she started there. The center is clean, and very well organized. The kids are all occupied by different activities every day. We can track her progress through the app, and receive multiple photos. All the teachers and staff are very friendly and patient. Her lead teacher is Ms. Lisa, and she is the best of the best! read more

Wish I could give negative stars. This bright horizon is one of the worst day care centers in the whole area, it was such a mistake to send in my kid there. She got a PTSD after attending, the center management are terrible communicators: no transparency and rude. They wont help you with any issue, and have been constantly covering things up. My daughter started at Bright Horizons Sunnyvale in the toddler class just after they opened (pre-pandemic) and was there all the way until K-Prep. We did keep her home for a year during the middle of the pandemic but she was ecstatic when she finally got to go back. She had such a good time there everyday that it was often a challenge to get her to leave and come home even after being there all day. She connected well with all of her teachers who were very kind and nurturing. She also made a lot of great friends. I think the staff did a very good job of teaching the kids interpersonal skills and making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. I noticed a number of lower reviews on yelp but they mostly seem related to people trying to enroll. While I see why that would be frustrating, I think it's probably because the staff is more focused on providing care to the kids. They have generally been highly responsive to our needs. There have been a number of recent staffing changes. I suspect this is mostly related to pandemic burnout. I agree with some other comments that these could have been communicated better. But by in large there has been a lot of continuity in teachers and every single one of them has been great. Our daughter really grew a lot there and the skills she developed have really led to a smooth transition into TK. I really loved our Bright Horizons experience will miss dropping my daughter off there every day and seeing the daily updates on what she did. I was very nervous to start daycare, but what I learned through this experience is that even though I might be the person who loves my daughter the most, there are things that other people are better at teaching her. Being in the group environment with experienced experts in children development did more for her than I could ever have done alone. It's not the cheapest daycare out there but for us it was worth it. read more

Great Staff and Facility...Worth every penny. My son has been there for 8 months now and loves it. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff and teachers and super friendly and knowledgeable. We can track his progress on their app and receive daily photos of his activities. Definitely can see the physical and mental progress this day care has benefited the little guy. Bright Horizon is good but this sunnyvale campus is horrible in service. They cancel your reservation last minute without proper explanation. When i made reservation for care 2 months ago with this center, they confirmed the reservation. However, right before the school day, they send an email regarding status change of the reservation says status changed from confirmed into "in progress", called the center and asked what's going on... they say oh we don't have spaces now. If you have no spaces, why you confirm the reservation 2 months ago, cancel without good explanation last minute is really not professional and cause challenging experience for kids and family as they have other choices 2 months ago to book other centers. read more

I was interested in finding out about the programs and facility and being a FTM, I had a lots of questions. Seems like this place is super busy and appointments are just not available. They typically take several days to revert. We contacted them around April end and after several back and forth spanning over weeks, we managed to get an appointment around end of May. Nobody bothered to join for the confirmed appointment and when I emailed them again about this (assuming that it was an honest mistake), they made it look as if I was the one who missed the appointment and the earliest they could accommodate me was in August! The facility is either severely short-staffed or not interested in any new students. It was a waste of my time and my experience was not very good. read more

Our child attended Bright Horizons Sunnyvale from 3 months through 3 years of age. As first time parents, my wife and I couldn't have asked for a more safe, supportive and loving environment. The center director Gita, and assistant director Stephanie have been absolutely amazing: they seem to remember everybody's name, history, and you can tell that they can step in to teach and watch any of the children at the drop of a hat. Our child went through 3 full classes and a partial year's class, and each set of teachers was great: Lisa R and Sheri H for infant class, Ethan C and Yan for twos class, Charlene A and Monique P for early preschool, and Valli and Iliana for preschool. Each of these teachers was so vital in supporting us through many milestones, such as walking, talking, potty training, recognizing emotions. Moreover, we noticed that even the staff and teachers not specifically assigned to our child's classroom interacted warmly with our child (with our child reciprocating, obviously feeling very comfortable with them), making the center seem like a village. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bright Horizons Sunnyvale to anyone. read more

Same experience as another review here; called to understand the programs, schedule, touring, facilities, etc and I was greeted with cold responses and just every comment led to prices. Seemed that the person wanted me to understand how much the daycare costs instead of giving me WHY it costs so much; Of course the cost is north of 2.5k a month but I didn't get any answer besides being a daycare with a program... what program? What exactly are you doing that costs so much? What is the value proposition of your school over any other that makes it cost so much? Maybe if you sell it to me i'll buy it, but of course the mention that there's already waitlist to this location and others makes them so cocky of this. We are looking somewhere else. read more

We've had a great experience with Bright Horizons Sunnyvale. Both our kids went through the program and loved it. The teachers are incredibly dedicated and the facilities are top notch. Had heard great things about BH but their Sunnyvale location just isn't upto the mark. First an overnight change in management without any notice. Teachers keep shuffling all the time and many teachers have left. How can a kid form any bond with the teachers. Their program is also very basic and doesent cater at all to being interested in what a student needs. Inspite of a small kids to teacher ratio in earlier classes, teachers hardly have a clue about each kids needs, their interests etc. Just a cookie cutter mediocre environment. read more

Spoke with someone on the phone and they said they couldn't provide that information, since they just opened in May. My son attended BH-Sunnyvale for two weeks in toddler group. We got transferred to Skyport location as it was closer to our home. We loved Sunnyvale brand so much. Everyone was super nice, loving and patient. It seemed like everyone loved being/working there - from kids, teachers, admin and kitchen staff. My son's teachers Ms.Dora and Ms.Maggie knew what they were doing, always on top of everything. When you compliment them on their job, they are so humble that they give recognition to other teachers who help them out too. The director Ms.Kim Donaldson knows everyone's name and was always happy to see my cranky little boy. In two weeks my 17-month-old-son has learnt so much and seemed like his EQ has grown too (lol). We were so sad to leave, but the location is 40-min-drive for us. As we are getting adjusted to a new BH location, I keep comparing them to BH-Sunnyvale (and sometimes out loud). Kuddos to all staff for making BH-Sunnyvale a safe, clean and fun place to grow for kids. read more

Our daughter attended Bright Horizons Sunnyvale since she was 1 years-old and just completed her last year in K-prep. We had the most wonderful experience here and miss the center and team very much! The teachers and executive staff are caring and compassionate and we never once had a doubt about leaving our daughter here. She was always excited to go to school and to come home and tell us about what she had learned. I also appreciated how the teachers took the time to listen to us and tailor their care specific to our daughter's needs. One of the staff said that our daughter had "grown up" at the center and we really did feel like it was another home for her and a place that she experienced all of her milestones, from walking to potty training to learning how to play and share with her peers and finally to preparing for Kindergarten. Beyond the teachers, we also appreciated that the center was so well-designed, clean and welcoming to young learners. (And we also love the option for prepared lunch!). The center also did an excellent job managing the uncertainties of covid-19 and we were impressed with how they handled the new protocols and ensured safety for all students and teachers. Even though Bright Horizons is part of a larger company, the school feels like its own community. If you have a chance to send your child here, we would highly recommend it! read more

My son started preschool in January 2022. We were transitioning after my son just got potty trained. We have had great experience with the school. The teachers are concerned and they care for your child. We have feedback everyday and we work on common goals together. Yes there have been some teacher turnover but my shy son has bonded with his teachers always. Feedback in preschool is super useful to cater to growing needs of pre schoolers. We still have a good few months at Bright horizons before transiting to private school and we would highly recommend this school for their preschool program. read more

My daughter has attended the K-Prep class for three months and we have been very happy with this school. The teachers and staff are wonderful. The teachers are caring, attentive and clearly very experienced. The classrooms and play spaces are designed well and the class has a wide range of toys/activities available. The curriculum is great and my daughter has learned a ton. The projects are creative and engaging. The music teacher who visits the school is amazing. My daughter loves going to school everyday which is so important to me as a working parent. Also the communication with parents is great, through the daily reports, but also through talking with the teachers at drop off/pick up. I feel like I have a good picture of what my daughter is doing everyday and it makes it easy to start conversations with her in the evenings. read more
