After waiting 35 minutes (with a 5 year old) the Dr finally checks on my son. Glances at him, looks at his X-rays. Says he has 2 cavities and leaves. The entire encounter lasting maybe 90 seconds. When we go to leave I went ahead and scheduled an appt to have cavities fixed and was pushed to sign a form allowing the use of laughing gas at that appt (I refused to sign at this point). I did call a week later and spoke with an assistant who actually took the time to talk to me about where his cavities were, what most likely caused them and what the process of repairing them looked like. Appt #2 ($600) receptionist required payment up front even though we didn't know the exact total yet depending on use of laughing gas. We go back, assistant takes xrays, Dr comes in (a different dr than appt 1) and low and behold, no cavities (supposedly there was one on the top and one on the bottom) his teeth are perfectly healthy. Upon checking out I'm told I'm all set....I had to remind them that they owed me my $600 back because they didn't do anything. In between these appts, I'm stressed because my child has to have cavities filled, we aren't taking good enough care of his teeth etc. He's stressed because he has to have cavities filled. The day of the appt the office calls to change appt time (I obliged) so we pulled him out of school early and rearranged work schedules and care for our youngest. Only to be told nothing was there and not even offered an apology. While sharing this experience with others parents and our pediatrician it's clear we should have stayed away from this practice from the beginning. Make sure to advocate for your child and ensure they are not doing unnecessary procedures to get $$.

After a month I start getting the statements from them showing the charges for the X-ray. First statement I got in Jan 2024 and second (last) in Mar 2024. That's when I spoke to someone (don't remember the name) at their office and they waived the charges. Now in Jan 2025 I again got the statement for the same charges. I called again and this time I spoke with Krystin (very rude) and she denied to waive the charges. I am not going back to the place who don't stand on their commitments.

I am beyond disappointed that they do not have a dentist on call for matters that are urgent as these for EVEN a consult. I was fine paying out of pocket for a second treatment until I heard the price; $18 more per child than what my other dentist charges across town. I know this because two of my kids go to that office and were just seen there. I explained that I was planning to move my younger two children to Growing Smiles, but asked if they could match the other office's fluoride price. The manager told me their prices are set and that I should go to the dentist that's best for my family. So, I did. By refusing to adjust for a $72 difference, the manager lost our business; all four of my children are now patients at the other dentist. It's disappointing that a simple pricing decision outweighed long-term relationships and loyalty.

Final update: I want it to be known that I took my child to another dentist today and it turns out…read moreme son DOES NOT HAVE ANY CAVITIES! This doctor told us he had 2 of them and was even willing to sedate my child to treat what wasn't there. THANK GOD things went left and I didn't end up letting him near my son again!!! Brought my son in for sealants and for two cavities. He was extremely scared and wouldn't tolerate even with gas. He wasn't kicking or anything. He was just crying and scared. Dr suggested sedation but that was $1050. I asked if the doctor would be willing to prescribe something my son could take before coming in and trying again but he refused. Then I asked if he would be willing to try again with my husband bringing him in and they said yes but they would charge me $200 for behavioral management. Seems that this doctor cares more about money than helping his patients and their families. I will never set foot in this practice except to get my sons medical records. I'm left feeling totally uncared for and used. I do not recommend. UPDATE: Dr. reached out to me after I requested my medical records trying to justify his fees and it felt like he tried to make me feel unreasonable for being unhappy about his behavioral management fee. and then offered to fill my sons cavities for free because he "cares about my son and wants him to have his treatment".. I'm sorry... I believe people when they show me who they are the first time. A free treatment isn't going to restore my trust at this point. I suspect it would later be dangled over my head. Plus, I don't need free anything! I'm willing to pay for what needs to be paid for. Now just waiting on medical records to be emailed to me.

Stephanie, the hygienist introduces the kids to every tool, contraption & sound in the office. She demonstrates each tool for them and lets them try turning on the tools. Dr. Putnam checks the kids, too, and goes over pros/cons of each child's specific developmental milestones. Good news for us, from the formation of my kids' baby teeth & bite (and early appearance of adult molars) he can tell orthodontic intervention likely is not necessary. Nice to know I don't have to worry about that as they grow.

I will never know because the front desk lady was not appropriate for customer service!!! so whenever anyone asks, I tell them do not go to this location until they replace her! I would look into Charlotte Dental pediatrics. They are amazing and also accepts Medicaid.
