In our over 50 years of traveling together I have never been through what we went through with Viator if I could give them lower then one star I would . it's mostly about having reasons for missing our tour guide which this inconsiderate didn't want to hear & didn't care here are a couple of reasons we missed our tour at Passeig de Garcia 1. Phone Issue since we landed in Barcelona no connection we booked this tour on our way to Miami after we left US problems Viator didn't want to hear it after our phone worked the day after tour. 2. Tour guide said he left voice mail , there was no voice mail . 3 . Directions in Spanish with the phone not working our hotel was able to print something for us to try & into the church , no luck. 4. We waited in front of church to try & meet guide no luck we checked with 6 other groups no luck however one group sounded like to new something about our name. 5. Why would we just miss this tour after paying for me , wife, and another couple does Viator need $239 that bad . We did 2 tours with them, and the drivers and guides were excellent. We did a 6 hour private tour on one day and a 4 hour private tour on the second day. Both itineraries were excellent, and we could choose modifications to our itinerary and how long to stay in various spots. We had 4 people, and one had limited walking ability. We had the BEST tour guide ever! We wanted to see and experience as much of Barcelona as possible in a 1/2 day private tour and were impressed by the previous Yelp reviews posted for Barcelona Day Tours. With only a day's notice, by communicating via email, we were abLa Sagrada schedule a tour to our liking after speaking to "Jay". Our driver/tour guide, "Fabio", was the absolute best! He picked us up at our hotel in a nice, clean, and very comfortable Mercedes minivan. Fabio took us to many of Barcelona's highlights with exception to La Sagrada Familia & Basilica Del Sagrado Corazon Tibidabo as we had already visited those two churches in previous days while in Barcelona. Fabio took us to see the following within our 4-hour tour: * Park Guell * Passeig de Gracia * La Pedrera/Casa Mila * Casa Batllo * Casa Amataller * Casa Morera * Plaza España * The National Palace * The Olympic Ring * Montjuic * The Columbus Monument * Port Olympic * Plaza Cataluña * Bunkers del Carmel Fabio was very friendly, personable, and accommodating to our requests. He was able to fit our minivan into many tight streets which we never thought he'd be able to navigate through showing us the insights of the old streets of Barcelona near the walls of the city. We got to see & experience what would be part of a walking tour without actually "walking". We loved every bit of our guided tour experience, and maybe would've liked to have gotten to ride their suspended skyline from the beaches to the mountains & driven by the Arch de Triumph, but that was no fault of our guide. Our party overly extended many of our independent stops which only shortened our number of sightseeing stops, unless we wanted to add time to our tour. We couldn't praise Fabio enough! We would recommend him highly, and suggest anyone looking to book a tour request him by name when emailing to book a tour. Setting: My husband and I were looking for a Barcelona tour to do in our first day in the city as we wanted to get an understanding of the history and culture of Barcelona. We searched online and stumbled upon Barcelona Day Tours as they are very highly rated on Trip Advisor. We ended up booking their tour and not other tour companies for the following reasons: 1. Our experience with booking tours with third party companies like TripAdvisor and Viator have been pretty hit or miss 2. They are a family owned company that you can book a tour directly on their website (https://barcelonadaytours.com/about-us/) 3. They are very transparent in their communication and pricing. Before I booked the tour, I emailed them and they were very quick and thorough with their response. 4. Very flexible cancellation policy 5. Prices were much cheaper compared to all the other tour groups Tour: We booked the half day tour from 9am to 1pm and added on skip-the-line access to Park Guell. We also paid extra for La Sagrada Familia tickets to do on our own at the end. We wanted a smaller group so the maximum people in the party was 12 people. They picked us up at the hotel, which was super convenient as we were recovering from jet lag so it allowed us to sleep in. Our tour guide, Elena, was a Barcelona native so was incredibly knowledgable about the city. Her English was also very good and spoke clearly and loudly - very easy to understand. She was very funny and presented all of the history of Barcelona in a very relatable way. She was well-prepared, professional, and personable. The timing of the trip and the organization was spot on. We stopped at a few major points: 1. National Museum of Art - an impressive site with great views (took pictures) 2. Park Guell - a lot of own time was spent here which was awesome because this was our favorite place in Barcelona 3. La Sagrada Familia There were many other POIs that we didn't necessary stop at but we drive by and discussed. I preferred this as it would've been exhausting to stop by every POI and get off the bus. They also offered free water on the bus. They do not provide food (this is clear in the tour description) but the tour finishes early enough for you to grab lunch on your own at the end. They also provide food recommendations! One of the things we liked the most was that Elena would know exactly when to stop for the best photo opportunities. She fought off the crowds so that she could take pictures for everyone in the group! Value: As I said earlier in the post, this was one of the most affordable tour groups that I could find. Also I think it is cheaper if you book directly on their website (69 euros vs 89 dollars on tripadvisor). We added on the skip the line at Park Guell and also the La Sagrada Familia entry so it was a little bit more expensive, BUT, well worth it. Otherwise we would've had to book those separately, which is a hassle in itself because those need to be reserved in advance. Service: One of the best parts of this company was their service. From the very beginning, when we sent them an email asking questions, to even after our tour, they were committed to the best customer service. Their responses were prompt and detailed. They were personable and eager to make sure we had a great experience. Other: I would highly recommend this company for an introduction to Barcelona. From arriving in Barcelona until the bus dropped us at out hotel, it was a wonderful time with Barcelona Day Tours! We were picked up at the cruise port and met with our small group and tour leader Elena. The communication could not have been better! From asking questions before booking and all the way through to the day of the tour and beyond - they kept in contact and were very available to answer any questions we might have. Elena was fun and informative and made the tour pretty special. It was obvious she has a heart and passion for sharing the love of her country and this area. It really brought history and the area to life. She was able to adjust to our weather - which was rain in the start, to where we still saw everything and yet did not get drenched. I would honestly give this experience 0 stars but didn't have that option.For someone who was extremely excited to take a day trip to visit Girona, Figueres, and Dali Museum, I, unfortunately, suffered from an unforeseen asthma attack and couldn't attend the day trip, which would've required a lot of walking, which wouldn't be good for my inflamed lungs. When the problem occurred, I contacted the tour operator Julia by text. I also tried to reach her via WhatsApp but noticed that her number wasn't available, which is odd considering international travelers do not have phone plans in Spain. To avoid roaming charges, I contacted Viator's customer services to report my issue via WhatsApp. I was told they would email my tour operator and get back to me, but I never received a follow-up. I sent images of the medications I've had to purchase in Barcelona as I tried to avoid hundreds of dollars in hospital costs. Even with proof of my condition, I was still declined by Viator for a refund. As vulnerable as I have been, the outcome's unfortunate. I looked forward to this day trip as this is my first time in Barcelona. As a design consultant and interior designer back in the U.S., taking this opportunity to see the Dali Museum was the most exciting thing on my list. I was thrilled to support the business of Viator, though I saw other companies offering same-day tours. This experience has left me on bed rest, but the response from the customer service team at Viator has me feeling extremely upset, disappointed and ripped off of my money. So far I'm a fan of Barcelona Day Tour. I was looking for something to do on the day of embarkation for our cruise and I found their ad on yelp. They don't post prices - you have to send them an email and they'll contact you back. Since we've been to Barcelona before, we didn't want no Sagrada Familia, no gaudi, no Montserrat. What does that leave us? A tour of a medieval town: Girona. Cool! For 99euro per person, we get a 5 hour tour with a chauffeured driver who will pick us up from the hotel (we'll be checked out by then) who will drive us to Girona, stay with our bags as we explore, and at the end, will drive us to the port and drop us off. Since most day tours in Europe are anywhere from $120- 200 per person, I thought this was a good price. read more

Booking and coordinating with Barcelona Day Tours for our tour was very easy! We booked a full day Barcelona city tour. Thanks to Julia who would reply back in a timely manner and she answered all of our questions. Our party of four couldn't have asked for a better experience seeing Barcelona and all of it's amazing sites than with our tour guide Jordi! The whole day it was as if we were traveling all around town with our friend. Jordi knew how to get around the city while explaining all of the rich history and details about all the places we went to visit! He took us to La Gavina, we enjoyed our meal here so much that we ended up coming back one more time at the end of our trip! Speaking no Spanish, (or Catalan for that matter, as we found out is the language of Barcelona) and being put in charge of travel decisions for both myself and my in-laws was a lot of pressure. Booking with BCN Day Tours was one of the best decisions I made! Everyone was thankful for and impressed with Oscar, our driver for our first transfer from the airport to our hotel, with a 4 hour tour in between! He honored our tour time even though our plane was 2 hours delayed, and rushed us to Sagrada in time for our pre-purchased ticket entrance. Excellent English, & very knowledgeable, he took us past the main sites, providing history of the city, and repeatedly asking "would you like me to stop for pictures?" The drivers for our other 3 transfers (hotel to port, port to hotel, hotel to airport - just transfer, no tour) were also excellent and always on time, but Oscar definitely stood out! All 4 vehicles were clean, spacious (seats 7 and our private transfers were for 4. Two suitcases per person fit easily in the trunks). And all of the drivers were calm, cool and collected- I couldn't have driven those roads! If we were in Barcelona again, I wouldn't even hesitate to book with this company again! We recently returned from a 14-day Oceania Cruise from Southampton to Barcelona.We visited many ports in Spain and Portugal and we used Spain Day Tours in 5 ports. The tours were all wonderful, small group (14-18 persons) tours in vans with a driver and a guide. The prices were very reasonable (69-79 euros per/person) and all were about 8 hours in length. In comparison the ship's tours were mostly 4 hours long and were large groups (30-40 persons) and were usually twice the price and often more. In my opinion, the smaller independent tours are always better and less expensive than the large bus tours and when you find a reliable company like Spain Day Tours, it's the only smart choice. read more

We were picked up at the dock at the end of our cruise with Viking Ocean. They were prompt and picked us (and our bags) up at the scheduled time. Our tour guide was Danny and she was very knowledgable and definitely knew her way around Barcelona. We had perfect weather in the morning but it was supposed to rain in the afternoon so they changed up the schedule going to Montserrat in the morning when the view was perfect and it was clear. There were 12 of us in a Mercedes mini-van and it was very comfortable. At the end of the day we were dropped off at our hotel. It was really nice that we didn't have to worry about our luggage or where to store it before check-in at the hotel. The driver stayed with them at all times. We were only in Barcelona for two days but this was the highlight of our time there. We would definitely recommend them. read more

Nothing like planning your full day in Barcelona around a tour and not having your guide (or tour company rep) show up. On follow up, we were told that guide had been in an accident and that we were emailed the previous day. Only problem was that we were flying in from US when email was sent. Tour company should have at least sent a warm body to let the 10 or so people waiting at the starting point what was going on. Unreliable. Contacted Viator . While I did receive refund, the time and extra expense we incurred were never addressed by Viator. All we heard from Viator reps was "We're sorry." read more

It seems like a private group but paid for group rate. Great service. The tour guide took us around on the half day tours is very knowledgeable. She told us a lots about the city. We hired Barcelona Tours to pick us up at the airport and take us on a customized tour of Barcelona. We visited the Parc Guell and La Sagrada Famila. Our guide and driver were very professional. They were on time to pick us up at the airport and make sure that we got to skip the line so we would have more time at the sites. As a Travel Agent, I'm always on the lookout for really good companies, who are trustworthy and reliable. I used Barcelona Day Tours for a recent trip. I had them supply us with airport pick-up to take us to our hotel (they meet you outside of the customs area, holding a sign with your name on it). Then we did a full day tour of Barcelona with them (they pick you up and drop you off at your hotel). The tour guide Marta did an incredible job. We then had them pick us up at the hotel and delivered us to the cruise port. Also had them waiting at the cruise port for us, to take us to the airport. They are slightly more expensive than other transportations and tour operators, but you get what you pay for! I would HIGHLY recommend Barcelona Day Tours to anyone who wants a totally reliable company! read more

In September, 2017, our group of 3 had the pleasure of touring Barcelona and Montserrat with Barcelona Day Tours. Our semi private (11 guests) full day shore excursion was enjoyable throughout. Our guide Joseph was extremely knowledgeable about the areas visited (& even saved us from eating cold premade sandwiches for lunch in Montserrat). He was funny and personable and managed to create a unique experience for a group. Considerate and accommodating, Joseph also provided alternatives for those in our group with limited walking abilities. With his guidance, we were able to tour Montserrat confidently during our free time. Joseph was also diligent in advising us of pick pocket areas in Barcelona & kept close eyes on all of us as we visited the Sagrada Familia. All email correspondence prior to the tour date was detailed and prompt. All tour aspects were clearly outlined and followed. I booked the Barcelona and Montserrat tour + Park Guell tickets only two days before the tour, and their office was accommodating and responded quickly to my requests. We left from Placa Cataluyna and drove through Barcelona on the way to Montserrat. There were two wonderful photo stops on the way, and we had free time about 2.5 hours in Montserrat. This was just enough time for us to choose to see the monastery, eat lunch, and take the San Joan funicular, which luckily was not too packed, and do a short hike at the top. The views are breathtaking! It was a hot sunny day even at the top of the mountains, so pack water. Next, we drove back to Park Guell and spent maybe an hour or so there, though we had to stay with the guide as a group since it was quite crowded in the afternoon. I would've liked a bit more independent time exploring Gaudi's park. La Sagrada Familia was the last stop, but it's only a walking tour of the outside facades, so you must visit the church another day. If you have limited time in Barcelona and have a 100 euros to spare, this was a decent tour to go on. Otherwise, it's cheaper and easy to get around via public transportation. read more

We typically avoid tours and acclimate ourselves to the city without a group however friends recommended this one and it was a positive experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we really had a nice cursory view of Barcelona. They pick you up at a designated location and drop off at a place best for you. We reserved three private transfer services (airport to hotel, hotel to port, port to airport) and the 1/2-day Barcelona shore excursion. The drivers for the transfers were very pleasant, professional and helpful, sharing information about Barcelona and answering our questions. They loaded and unloaded all our baggage, handling them carefully. The pick-ups for the first two transfers were on time and went very smoothly. The final pick-up was a challenge because the cruise ship disembarked passengers to two terminals at the port. We disembarked to terminal B, while the driver was at terminal C; our actual terminal was not known until we disembarked. Unfortunately, our cell phone had locked up during the cruise and we were unable to contact Barcelona Day Tours to inform them of our location and they could not contact us. A member of our group finally walked to terminal C and found our driver (Felix who handled our first transfer) who then drove to the other terminal and picked us up. The city tour was very nice. The tour guide was informative. We recommend including the skip-the-line tickets for Park Guell; well worth the cost. Our only downside from the tour was that time was spent at locations (besides La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell) which we designed by Anthoni Gaudi. We would have preferred to see other historical sites, including cathedrals. The tour includes personal pick-up and drop-off at your hotel or the port. Unfortunately, our hotel was located in a historic section which has strict traffic rules for on vans and coaches, so we had to walk about 7-8 minutes to/from another location for pick-up and drop-off which we understood. If you are looking for a half-day tour, this one should be considered. Barcelona Day Tours was very helpful in answering any questions during the planning for our trip. If we return to Barcelona and need similar services, we would consider Barcelona Day Tours again. read more

Our 1/2 day tour with Marta was FABULOUS! My wife and I both agreed that she was the BEST tour guide we've ever had. We WILL come back to Barcelona because of the great job she did introducing the city to us. Her facility to speak several languages flawlessly was very impressive. Marta did an enthusiastic and incisive job of explaining Gaudi's architectural and engineering genius at la Sagrada Familia, the Parc Güell, and the 2 apartment buildings. We spent the afternoon at the Place d'Espana, the fountains and the reconstructed Spanish village due to the "drive-by" on the tour. We also very much appreciate the fact that Marta and the van driver turned around to return my jacket that I left on the van. Anna (in the office), was both friendly and helpful in setting up arrangements for this tour via email as we were on our way to Barcelona via cruise ship.
