From her easy to find meeting point, early arrival and very relaxed pace strolling through Barcelona's incredible Gothic Quarter (and her dropping historical "tapas" along the way noting places of significance) her professionalism & care for clients is SO obvious !! Oh, and then the FOOD ! we were taken to 3 spots I never would have found for a great cross-section of Spanish at first bar (Chorizo sausage, Bull's tail done PERFECTLY with the richest sauce, rich bread & potatoes and a nice vermouth). Next was a Catalonian restaurant for a their special take on Paella rice, "Pisto" of eggplant, croquettas,etc.). Wine pairing was terrific And finally a dessert spectacular stop in the Jewish Qtr of custard/Flan, cake and ice cream selection. A local "cava" sparkling Catalan wine and coffee offered. In summary we had a very mixed, small relaxed group of 6 (two from NYC, 2 from Holland, 1 from Seattle, 1 from California & 1 from Cadiz Spain) who were all open to new tastes & experiences that bonded very well this pleasant evening !!! HIGHLY recommend this tour....but do it ASAP upon arrival in Barcelona, as Maribel emails all guests a follow-up list of local favorite restaurants, bars and shops that will be IN-valuable the remainder if your stay. Unfortunately we ended our trip with her...and now have to return to try as many places on her list as possible !

Our tour guide, Miguel, didn't seem very knowledgeable about anything, and I didn't feel that the food he referred us to was all that special or even that good. Actually, I felt short changed. I have to say, the food that I found on my own was way better than anything Miguel. Also, apologies for the lateness of this review. I did this tour in 2015.

We started the day with a windsurfing lesson on the Mediterranean Sea. On the drive there, Antoine described the Sitges area--its history and culture. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and pointed out all the major things visitors should know, along with great recommendations for things to do. What really set Antoine apart, though, were the little things he did throughout the day. After our windsurfing lesson, the sand was unbelievably hot! I was stranded, standing on my sail to avoid burning my feet, and Antoine ran over, grabbed my sail, and helped me off the beach. It was such a minor effort, but it perfectly reflected how attentive he is. For lunch, he took us to an amazing local restaurant and patiently walked us through the menu, explaining the dishes. Later, when we decided to relax on the beach, he even arranged towels and an umbrella for us to borrow since we hadn't brought any. Again, it was those thoughtful touches that made the experience so memorable. Antoine was simply fantastic with my 15-year-old son, engaging him with ease and making us feel like he wanted to be there with us throughout the day. If you're looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, personable, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your experience unforgettable, I can't recommend Antoine highly enough. Thank you for a truly wonderful day!

The first place we tried was a nearby bakery that made a pine nut cookie which I was disappointed - really wanted to try the hot chocolate w/ churros that the Youtube video I saw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7Z3oY4d-VA The next stop was in Born gothic area for a market place that we tried some cheese and jamon. Learned a lot about the different grades of the famous Iberian jamon. Next was the wine drunk from a porron (wine sharing vessel) - that was fun! Then we went to a tapas bar that had some the excellent foie gras w/ steak and tuna fish salad. Next was a nut shop that specializes in smoked & roasted nuts. We had a good sample of just roasted hazelnuts! Finally we went to a restaurant that served a huge list of items: baby squid, fiduea, bombas, seafood salad, and tomato bread. Overall I thought is was OK, not spectacular like the video that I went for.
