I noticed that most the poor reviews in the past have to do with communication so I thought I'd address that first. I reached out to him via the contact form on yelp. He was quick to reply, quick to return my message and was able to book me the next day. I got a message that he might be late by 15 minutes, but he ended up being perfectly on time. He was proactive in all communication with me so that is really appreciated. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue in about 20 minutes. I had a similar issue in the past that another electrician took over an hour to diagnose. After the fix he spent another 15 minutes talking me through a separate issue that I was planning on tackling myself in the future. He was reasonable in his bill. Would call again. read more

Called BSE yesterday about electrical panel and occasional tripping circuit breaker problem. I narrowed the tripping issue to two circuit breakers. I viewed some YT videos on replacing the two circuit breakers, but felt I couldn't replace the breakers myself and felt I needed an electrican for a residential visit. Talked to Ron at BSE and he trouble shot the problem over the phone and got the problem solved, saving me money on a residential visit. I've got a few projects for later in the summer and will be calling on Ron to help out. I really appreciated his immediate help, concern and professionalism. We've had Bright Star come and do electrical work for us 2x now and both times they did a great job. On time every time and they worked with our schedule. Love the new lights in my living room which only had a small little lamp to light it, the new recessed lights look beautiful and simple, and make the room that much more inviting. The first time we used Bright Star was the week of Christmas, we have a 50+ year old house and when our Christmas lights (that were not very efficient) blew out some old wiring and caused half our house to go dark and our garage to stop opening. Ronald from Bright Star came out to help, he did not quit till he found the cause of the problem and quickly repaired it. Looking for an electrician, a couple place pop up and click on this and ask for his info called the number and scheduled an appointment tomorrow after 3pm to come out and look at how I wanted a 220v to be hooked up.... today is that tomorrow and around 12ish I texted him saying are you still coming? He said "yeah I'm about an hour away" okay but I said I was gonna be home at 3pm. So I got home at 3pm and texted him when is he coming ETA? No reply lack of communication. He could of said "oh hey could we reschedule or something." was gonna drop $1500-$2000 on this but I guess I'll take my money else where read more

Last week, I received the same treatment as the other 1-star reviewers did. From the beginning, it didn't seem like my request was a priority for Ronald, but people are busy and I wasn't too concerned about having to ping him a couple of times to get a time to meet. It turned out that we both had availability on Friday, so Ronnie's text said "1pm". My reply was "1pm Friday. Ok, see you then." Since confirming an appointment can't be stated any simpler than that, I thought it was a done deal. Friday afternoon, Ron-Ron was a no-show. I sent a text to ask if he was on the way. He replied that he had called the day before to confirm, couldn't reach me and left a voicemail, and we would have to reschedule for the following week. I replied to remind him of my confirmation earlier in the week and to dispute his claim regarding the voicemail. He has not replied since then. No offer to meet at my convenience. No apology for wasting my time. Nothing. So, if my thoughts and experience can help any other yelpers, I'd like to expand on the points of my last text message: 1. The phrase "1pm Friday. Ok, see you then." is a confirmation. If you don't understand that, then don't make appointments via text. (Maybe you shouldn't even be texting, anyone, since maybe you don't read that well, or pay close attention to what your would-be clients are saying, or both.) 2. I can see that Ronny called on Thursday, but I didn't receive a voicemail from him. Regardless, we hadn't yet spoke on the phone...only email and text. Why not try one of those prior proven methods to reach me? Unless he planned to flake out anyway and figured it easier to just walk away without explanation. (I used to end relationships that way...when I was in grade school...but I remember that line of thinking.) Bottom line: Proceed at your own risk. Apparently Ronaldo does good work. Unfortunately, he's just not real big on customer service or common courtesy. read more

My wife and I just had new countertops installed along with a new sink that changed the placing of the garbage disposal system and we found that we were around 6-8 inches short of the tubing needed to get the disposal hooked back up. I contacted Bright Star through Yelp and within 20 minutes received a message from Ronald that he could be out to fix it within a couple of hours along with a very reasonable exact price quote. He was true to his word and came and completed the job within 30 minutes to top quality standard and Ron was a super nice guy too. After contacting this company to schedule an estimate via yelp we connected and settled on a date and time, then the evening before the appointment I got this message; "Tracy I apologize but I won't be able to make tomorrow's appointment. Any chance we can push it in the afternoon to 2 PM? Either that or maybe Friday morning? Sorry for the inconvenience". I replied that I could accomodate either day/time and thanked him. 3 days later with no yelp message, no e-mail, no phone call... Just a missed scheduled appointment... I am very dissatisfied with my experience with this company and absolutely cannot recommend them for anything other than wasting your time. read more

After hunting for a reliable electrical contractor for weeks and encountering a shocking number of people who didn't return phone calls or emails or wouldn't schedule a specific time to come for an estimate, Bright Star was a huge relief. They are communicative via both phone and email, they arrive promptly at times scheduled, and they do tidy work on budget. They replaced our old electrical panel, provided new grounding (the house was previously grounded to the water pipes), fixed some sketchy wiring we uncovered as part of a DIY project, and even rolled with the punches as we asked them to provide some new electrical outlets that weren't in the planned work. I wasn't too particular about the quality of hardware they installed and they used really nice stuff. A quiet bath fan and an excellent electric wall heater. I called them to work on a property in Wood Village and they said they could work for us at the end of the week. NO CALL, NO SHOW. Called in Dec 2016 regarding another property in Gresham. They said yes but never would schedule with me. Kept telling me next week, sent emails per their request and again they didn't schedule. Both times they said they would but they never committed to scheduling with us just strung me along and wasted my time. I won't be calling them again. Highly recommend Bright Star Electric. Had a small wiring issue we just couldn't figure out--suspected a switch or plug in a serial was out interrupting the circuit, but after changing many of them out still no power to that part of the house. Called and spoke with Ron. He did basic troubleshooting over the phone, then told us he would send someone out same day. Called us back to give an eta as soon as he knew when they'd be here. Ron responded to my request for an estimate on a light fixture installation within about 10 minutes on a Sunday afternoon and said he could come out to the house the next day. He provided an estimate of $150. The next day he showed up on time (early actually -- a good thing!) and completed the installation in about 10 minutes. A year later we found that two outside plugs were not working, and when we contacted them (Rafi specifically) to have them come look at it, he strung us along for months and then eventually just blew us off altogether and won't return calls.
