We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

We met with multiple solar companies and settled on Highlight due to both the great recommendations…read moreas well as our experience during the initial process. We asked a LOT of questions, then we asked more, and then some more. Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

Clean Solar - Beautiful solar install on clay roof

    Clean Solar

Unreservedly recommend Clean Solar!…read more Had PV Solar installed when the house was built in 2006. Under our existing rate plan (time-of-use, meaning pay high rates 4-9 pm and low rates the rest of the time), and metering agreement (NEMS 2.0), we were selling more electricity (in $ terms) than we were using. However, we will be forced to switch to the new metering agreement (NEMS 3.0) in late 2026, which drastically cuts how much PG&E pays us for electricity we sell to them--we will end up paying money to PG&E. This motivated me to consider installing a whole-house battery storage system to do "rate shifting"--store the excess electricity generated by our PV system in the morning and early afternoon to power the house during the high rate period (4-9 pm). And of course provides energy in the event of a power outage. I also wanted to take advantage of the energy tax credit before it expires at the end of the year. Reading reviews on Yelp, Google, and other sites, I decided to contact Clean Solar along with 3 other companies. Clean Solar was the first to respond and I had a thorough conversation with a Senior Design Analyst, Art Balaoro. He listened and understood my goals, answered my (many) questions and said he would get back to me with options in a few days. Of the other 3 companies, 2 never responded to my inquiry at all! The other one did, but I had to repeatedly reach out to them to make any progress on getting a quote. In contrast, Art did as he said and responded within a week with several options, primarily around which battery vendor to go with (Tesla vs. Franklin, I preferred the latter) and the battery location. Clean Solar scheduled a technician to come out and look at our house: location and configuration of the main panel, possible battery locations, where the existing PV inverter was, etc. Took a lot of photographs and measurements to verify compliance with building codes. In contrast, the other vendor was sluggish to schedule someone to visit, so I ended up sending them photos and measurements from the Clean Solar visit. Because of the peculiarities of my house's main panel, it was going to be more difficult (and expensive) to install the Franklin battery. And although I would have preferred to put the battery inside my garage, building codes would have required a replacement of the entire smoke alarm system throughout the house, also adding significant expense. Art walked me through these issues thoroughly and so I went with the recommended (and cheaper) option, going with the Powerwall and an outside location. In contrast, the other vendor didn't do as thorough an analysis and wasn't aware of these issues until I pointed them out. When I did get a comparable quote from them (exact same system components), it was slightly more expensive than the Clean Solar quote. I started this process in June, and immediately Art said it was going to be a close thing to finish the project before the end of the year--so many people were wanting to install solar or battery projects and claim the tax credit. Art also walked me through the timeline for the whole process and how it would be managed on their end. Based on the interactions I had with him and others, I felt that Clean Solar was the best choice for my project--and my experience bore that out.

We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. Seamless is what you'll experience with them. Until next time Clean Solar!

They let me know of rebates and programs that helped me save more money. These guys are top.

We originally chose them a few years ago because they offered free solar panel removal and reinstallation when we eventually needed a roof replacement. The initial install went fine, but trying to get them to honor their contract now has been a nightmare. Bait and Switch: They are suddenly demanding a $3,600 fee for the removal. Even their salesperson admitted this fee was not indicated in our main agreement from 2021, but is now picking apart vague fine print (outside of our contract) to justify it. We have sent the contract over multiple times and asked them to highlight the language where it specifies this charge. Unethical leadership: Leadership is aware of this $3,600 gap, but they don't want to back down. Terrible Customer Service: They are dragging their feet and refusing to coordinate with our roofer, who has been consistently asking for dates to remove the solar. Ignored Emergencies: We explicitly told them we have an active roof leak and asked them to prioritize the removal so we could fix our home. They did not care. Once they finish your initial install, they will abandon you and refuse to give you the time of day. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. If you are looking for solar, be very wary and look elsewhere.

I have to honestly say that Chris has the patience of a saint. He had to correct some minor hardware issues but the time consuming and annoying part was getting correct and timely information from Enphase support. Chris did a very fine job and verified that both the hardware and software were performing correctly. Very professional and a job thoroughly done. I switched my solar maintenance to Sunwise based on my interaction with Chris. Sunwise is also one of the few companies that service the area I live in - between Half Moon Bay and Pacifica. I believe that the fees are fair based on the thoroughness of the job, the time spent and the professionalism of Chris. The company was also very quick to respond. So I had just been burned the end of the year that cost me 20K in extra taxes. I was mistrustful about the entire industry at that point, but I wanted solar and the tax credits were to be eliminated end of 2025. That's when I called Sunwise and met Ali. He stayed in contact with me, and then came to the house to do an evaluation. From the beginning there was something more human about his approach than my previous experience. He is professional, knowledgable, and an excellent customer service representative. After signing a proposal that was about the same amount of money as the previous one in 2024, we started figuring out delivery and installation. Because the tax credits were expiring, all solar companies had a rush of business. As with any project, there were a few glitches along the way. Ali was always available and able to smooth things to keep the project moving forward. Chris came with his team to install the panels and batteries. They knew what they were doing. I have gone into my attic months later during a big rain storm and there are no roof leaks. After the installation, there was a glitch with the batteries and I still remember Chris and Sam working in the rain, on the phone with the manufacturer until the system was working correctly. Also the previous solar company insisted(at the last minute) that I needed a sub panel for an extra 5K. Sunwise figured out how to install with no extra expense. Ali, Chris, and Sam are owners of the company and that's who I dealt with. All professionals. I can still write any of them and they respond quickly Even though my experience with the previous solar company was awful, things worked out best for me. I had a very good experience with Sunwise and highly recommend them.

While many…read moresolar companies are overwhelmed right now due to the rush before federal incentives expire--and often stop responding to customers--TN Electrical truly sets itself apart. No project is too small, and every customer is treated with care and urgency. I reached out on August 10 to add one Tesla Powerwall and one expansion pack. To my surprise, the site assessment happened that very same day, the installation was completed within two weeks, and final inspection passed flawlessly on August 28. Start to finish, everything was done in just 18 days--remarkably fast compared to typical industry timelines. Special thanks to Nhi and Sony, who went above and beyond to fit me into their tight schedule, even working on a Sunday to make it happen. Their team arrived on time, executed the installation flawlessly, and left the site spotless. The conduit runs are beautifully done--neat, precise, and professional. What impressed me the most, though, was the communication. Both Nhi and Sony were consistently responsive to my texts and patient with every question I had. It's rare to find this level of customer service in such a busy industry. If you are considering solar or battery storage, I can't recommend TN Electrical enough. They deliver exceptional quality, outstanding customer service, and unmatched speed in execution. Truly a 5-star experience from start to finish.
