I had them replace a skylight for me. They were not the cheapest. However, they were the most responsive and able to source the skylight the most quickly. They did not collect anything for this (small) project until the job was completed. There was one hiccup where the skylight did not quite fit so they had to cut a slightly larger hole and I was not charged extra for this unforeseen issue. Also, they willingly took a look at an issue I was having with another skylight for no additional charge. So I'm very pleased overall with this work. read more

Our roof started leaking during a recent thunderstorm through our Sun Tunnel / skylight. I sent them a message through Yelp and they responded right away and had a roofer come out within an hour from the initial response. They did a temporary fix which stopped the leak right away and then followed up to come back and redo the shingles to properly install them as it was not installed correctly by the contractor who installed it initially. They also patched several other spots on the roof and we haven't seen any leaks since even with heavy rainfall. Highly recommend. read more

This review is long overdue. Miles and his team came out to replace my whole roof and skylights about a year ago. The whole team is friendly, fast, efficient, well organized, and very knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and extra requests without any issue. They worked with the utmost attention and care to details, did a fantastic job replacing my roof. I went up there a few times before, during, and after the job to inspect, I could not find any flaws. I am very pleased even after a year, no issues on the roof. Our new GAF Solar Roof was installed by R E Roofing a little over 8 months ago, and we could not be happier! Miles, Jody and their team were super to work with, and the job could not be better. It started with the sub contractor that Miles uses to tear off the old roof. Since all they do as a business is tearing off old roofs, they are experts at it. In about 4 hours, our 60 year old cedar shake roof was off, and all the grounds around the house completely clear of any debris. Then Miles' R E employed roofers took over. They repaired all dry rot damaged eaves and laid down the plywood sheeting. As far as I am concerned, they are master carpenters. The work was that good! Then the underlayering and all the components of the Timberline Solar roof. And they did this all in the intense heat of August. Those guys are amazing! Our roof looks great, and more importantly, it performs the job of a roof excellently. We survived the epic atmospheric river storms of January and February without a drop of water anywhere. I waited to see how the solar shingles performed before this review. Now the results are in. The system is performing as projected, and in fact in April it is producing more than was projected. This is a new technology, and I was naturally concerned. But Miles assured me it worked, and importantly, both R E Roofing and GAF would stand behind it. I trusted that because we had a friend who had R E Roofing install a roof several years ago, and this friend raved about how responsive Miles was. I just had a GAF Timberline Solar roof installed by RE Roofing in Campbell -- a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend you work with RE. About 12 years ago, RE repaired a significant leak in my roof. The first two roofers (whom I paid) failed to fix the leak properly. RE was a little more expensive, but they promised to stand behind their work if it was not done right. The repair held and I committed RE Roofing and the name Miles Proctor to memory for any future roof jobs. Skip 12 years ahead. I had been postponing the purchase of a new roof for a few years, and with the recent ridiculous increases in PGE rates, I knew I wanted solar. My house is 1900 sq ft but the roof has multiple gables, a hip, a hog valley, two skylights and all the normal vents. I knew the system would be multiple smaller panels. Having worked with RE for the leak fix, I knew I wanted quality workmanship and a warranty, so called RE after reviewing their web information on the GAF system. I had already had two roof quotes (for 30+ year roofs) and this GAF solar roof, after tax credit, won't be much different. Most of my roof was 30 years old; one portion, an addition, was about 20 years old. Certain Teed Presidential. Farewell. I signed the GAF contract about a year ago, before the NEM2 deadline in spring of 2023, so had locked in that arrangement. I know GAF then had some issues with their product so there were delays in scheduling the work. RE recommended waiting until the product performance was restored; this was fine by me. After several spring rain storms and reschedules, my job was scheduled for mid March 2024. Miles of RE Roofing had two workmen come to my house the Friday before, to replace that beam. Good to get that work out of the way before the job started in earnest. I was informed the crew would show between 7 and 8 each day, and they did - about 7:30. They had a crew of 4-6 workmen every day, first for tearoff, then repairs, then install. Work 4 hours, lunch, work another 4+ hours, clean up. They brought a crane truck to hoist the materials up. A dump truck for debris during tearoff and again during the week for additional debris. They had to repair a roof edge beam and they primed it at the end. Were folding up the ladders when I requested to climb up to take pictures. They accommodated my request and I plan to include photos with this review. The job included permits, removal, gutters and leaf covers, underlayment, ventilation, new metals and flashings, and cleanup. The final debris removal included magnetic 'sweep' for nails and such. The roof job took 4 days and ended after 5 pm on a Friday. The rain returned a couple hours later. I experienced no leaks. It was an inconvenience when the rain delayed the work start, but it was great to learn immediately that the job was done right. A perk for having the work done between storms. GAF handles the electrical install and hookup, and I'm in the middle of that process now. So I will update this review after my roof is generating power and I get a PGE bill. read more

RE Roofing replaced our roof a couple of months ago and we're extremely happy with the work they did! From the beginning, Miles and Jodie, the co-owners, were friendly, informative and helpful. We sought out several bids and theirs was very competitive and made the most sense for us. We were impressed with how knowledgeable and detail-oriented Miles was and what we would get for the cost. We didn't think we could afford a solar roof but he demonstrated that the solar tax credits we were eligible for brought it well into the range of our budget. When you hire Miles, you aren't just getting a new roof but a reliable, long-term customer service relationship. I chose RE Roofing initially back in 2017 to reroof my home because Miles took the time to carefully evaluate my home's unique characteristics (partial flat roof, and partial cathedral ceilings) and craft a venting solution to address all of our moisture problems. Whereas the other companies seemed much less knowledgeable and mainly interested in getting in and out as quickly as possible. Since the reroof, I've had a couple leakage issues with our skylights and suntunnels (which I chose not to replace with the reroofing) and whenever I called Miles, somebody came out the same day to assess the issue and make temporary repairs until I could get a permanent fix for the skylight or sun tunnel. Most recently, I had an awning installed that attached to my roof, but the installers did a terrible job and the roof leaked thereafter. I was a little terrified that nobody would take a small roofing job, but I called up Miles again and he was great at diagnosing the issues and coming up with a custom solution in coordination with the awning installers. We had our roof replaced a little over a year ago, and I wish I wrote a review sooner. We had a really excellent experience with R E Roofing. Miles inspected our roof when we first moved in and didn't pressure us into replacing it right away. He gave us a reasonable estimate for its remaining lifetime, and did some minor repair work. Bidding Process: When it came time to replace our roof, R E roofing was one of three bids. What I liked about their bid is that they were very honest about their expected costs. For example, Miles thought we would need some decking before laying the singles down. Another contractor said the same thing, but R E roofing put the cost of the decking into the main part of their bid, and the other contractor put it in as a possible add on in fine print. This was about a 7K cost, so it is a big deal. In terms of price, RE's bid was in the middle, but their bid included the same material in more expensive bids. Bids are not directly comparable on price alone and may include materially different things. The cheaper bids included less expensive materials (e.g. the paper, decking, etc.). So, they were a very good value and honest. Installation: The installation process went very smoothly. The crew arrived on time and completed the job in the estimated time with no damage to the house. They were friendly and communicative throughout the process. They cleaned up nicely afterwards and handled all the inspections. We had a pretty complicated process because of solar panels and veneer brick on our chimney that needed to be removed. So, I was happy everything went very smoothly. Post Reroof: During our reroof, we learned that our two bathroom fans were not vented to the outside (and were pumping damp air into our attic). I didn't realize this because our roof had the expected number of jacks for all the ventilation systems. However, some of them were not connected to anything. Although I wish this was brought up during the reroofing process, R E roofing came back to help me add jacks for the vents, and they were even able to connect one of the fans from the top of the roof. They were also very good about following up with questions I had, which were nothing serious. Our roof looks amazing and has been leak free for at least 1 year! read more

We hired RE Roofing to replace our roof shingles, gutters and install a whole house fan. The entire job took about 6 days, and everything looks really great. They found and repaired some dry rot that we did not know about and also installed a 2nd layer of plywood on our older roof, which add some more protection. The new hardware (vents, etc.) on the roof were all replaced and painted to match the color shingles we chose. Our roof definitely is the best looking roof on our block now! It was nice to be able to visit their showroom to view different shingles and ask Miles questions about brands, etc. He's very easy to talk to and seems committed to doing quality work. The admin, Jodie, was also a whiz at coordinating different contractors and making things happen smoothly. She also communicated frequently (via email) so we always knew what was next. Miles and his crew replaced my entire roof and repaired some wood rot in Nov 2022. Him and his crew did a great job, they were quick, detailed and tidy. Moving forward to March 2023, due to months of torrential rains and winds, a very large tree in front of my house shed a few of its branches which fell on top of my house and damaged the new roof that was just replaced. I called Miles up and he immediately came out to assess the damage, quickly put a tarp over the damaged section of the roof and worked with my homeowners insurance agent to make sure I wasn't short changed on the claim. Once the insurance claim was settled, we moved forward with replacing several slopes of the roof as the tree caused significant damage. The insurance agent commented that the craftsmanship of the roof was some of the best that he has seen in the south bay which reinforced my decision to go with Mile's company. I did my due diligence in reviewing potential roofers and settled on R E Roofing after meeting Miles the owner. What drew me to his family owned business was: - They had a showroom to visit. I felt I could really review my options better vs just being handed roofing samples out of the back of a truck that others did. - He offered other additional options. Whole house fan, upgrading the attic insulation, upgrading the plywood decking, etc... - His base roof prices were comprable to other vendors. - I liked the family owned/small business feel I got from him. He mentioned his mom was the scheduler and he let me know, when I mentioned that I was going to visit the showroom, that the women that hosted the showroom had to pick up her child early that afternoon... I really liked that he was supportive of a mom with a child. (It's a little thing but meant something to me.) Ripping off and replacing my old roof took about 4.5 days. The teams and process were tightly scheduled and ran like clock work. First day a team came and took the old 2 layers of roof off down to the studs. (They were done in half a day.) Afterwards the team did a fantastic job cleaning up all round the house of loose debris. Additionally they swept through the garage to assist in cleaning what fell to the floor. (It was suggested to cover in plastic all my garage items beforehand, which I did. It made my own clean up very easy.) Then the two roofers came and boy, did they get to work. Trucks were dropping by to drop off insulation, boards, and new shingles. They let me know when they found a little dry rot and termite damage. They replaced those damaged areas. At the end, it looks fantastic! They painted all the old venting to match the color scheme of the new roof. They added to the back slope of the roof and to the garage vents that should let the hot air finally escape during the summers. Really looking forwards to no more super-heated garage or attic (which just caused me to run the AC more than I wanted.) With the addition of the added insulation, I'm hoping this controls the temperature of the house better. All in all the roof looks terrific and am very pleased that I selected R E Roofing. This is one of those "very large" costs that we sometimes have to do to our homes. But I must say, in looking at what has been done, I feel that it was money well spent. read more

A massive thunderstorm with strong winds hit San Jose 5 days ago and my roof started to leak with drips coming through our lighting fixture on my storage room. It got pretty bad and I panicked. Called 5-6 roofers and it was just extremely difficult to score an appointment. One of them quoted me $550 minimum just to come out and see what's going on. Talk about taking advantage of a situation! Despite being expensive, they didn't even reply further calls. The others were pretty much the same. Zero customer service. Extremely disappointed. I chose RE Roofing for their great reviews. I called for an estimate, and off the bat, the lady on the phone told me that they are more expensive than other companies because they deliver quality work. I was absolutely fine with that since I do agree you get what you pay for. Miles came by for the estimate and signing of contract. I told him that I appreciate good customer service and no surprises. If anything came up when taking off my roof, I would like to be told of any changes. Miles seemed to agree and promised me the work should be done in ONE day since only a part of our roof had to be repaired. On the scheduled day of work, my fiance took the day off to greet them. This is where the issues arose. The workers came but the material never showed. When work finally started a week later, they took THREE days. Each time, we had to coordinate leaving a back door unlocked so they can use our plugs in our garage or my fiance had to take another day off. When my fiance voiced his disappointment, the representative had no apologies and justified by saying "this is a really busy time for us." If they were so busy why did they promise a one day turnover. What really annoyed us was when Jodie finally came over for payment. Apparently, something unexpected had to be ordered to complete our new roof and charged us extra. No one told us of any changes even though my fiance was home all day. Jodie just made excuses, again with no apologies. We were definitely disappointed with their customer service after the contract was signed. They definitely over promised and under delivered with respect to timeliness and customer service. After paying her, she then tells us we have to paint the underside of the new roof within 6 months (oh geez). The only reason why I didn't give them a one star is because our roof isn't leaking and seems to be intact so far. read more

Arriving back from Europe, we found that our roof had been leaking in the winter. We called several companies and Miles was the first to respond, and promptly assessed the roof - being a tile roof, the other roofers that responded did not worked on tile. Upon coming out, he found that the roof was in good shape, but the tree debris had built up over time. About a week later, his team (2 guys) cleared the roof off, and fixed the damages beneath the tile in one day. Overall, the fast response and quick repair work made us feel comfortable. We do have to wait for rain to come to make sure that it was completed, but we can update that when the time comes. RE Roofing replaced my deteriorating concrete tile roof with an asphalt shingle roof last week. The roofers were prompt , courteous, and cleaned up every day. Came on time and worked full days. The new roof and new gutters look great. Miles, the owner, is responsive and very helpful. We had actually gotten as far as signing a contract with their competitors when we met with Miles and his Dad. We were so pleased with their down-to-earth attitude, their knowledge, their professionalism, their responsiveness, and frankly, their zero-pressure sales that we cancelled the existing contract and switched to R E Roofing. They were a bit cheaper as well, although I would not be surprised if there are still cheaper out there, but you get what you pay for and RE's warranty and service are excellent. They also only required a $1000 down payment instead of 50% like their competitors, which was nice. They also let us put the materials (but not labor) on a credit card (which buys a few good reward points!) Their work crews busted their butts. Our small 1400sf house was done in 2.5 days including new gutters and a solar tube. The crews left the yard cleaner than how they found it. My only disappointment was when the final bill arrived. I was surprised that they had not given me a "heads-up" on about $1500 worth of extra work (half was for some dry rot and the other half was for an unexpectedly difficult and time-consuming task of getting new gutters installed on our unique eaves). However, and I must stress this, when I contacted them and said I was unhappy about the unexpected charges, the owner agreed with me that the additional gutter installation task was not "hidden" work and should have been caught in the original inspection/quote. He immediately issued me a check for the entire amount of the extra gutter work, even though I have no doubt his crew actually did incur significant extra time and expense. This is a company that values their good reputation (I think hey have a 100% Diamond Certified rating) and really wants you to be happy with your experience. I would not hesitate to use them again. I'd ding 'em a half star for not having someone on-site explaining the extra charges as they arose, but other than that - a fantastic company and a fantastic job. read more

In response to Miles P.'s comments: 1. My review is for the customer service after the contract was signed not the roofing product. The roof product itself was and still is wonderful, I would have the same one installed again. The customer service up to the signing of the contract was amazing, they were very responsive, gave us all of the answers we were looking for. We chose RE Roofing because of the great customer service and verbal commitments and because we always try to support local family owned and operated businesses. What we should have done and what I always do now is get EVERYTHING in writing. 2. I was told by RE Roofing when we signed the contract we were customers and that even though they were backed up a couple of months they would take care of making sure our roof was water tight until they could install the new roof. I will give them this was no small task as we had just completed a fairly large project that put some big holes in the roof however we believed them and trusted them because they were a small family run business but we didn't get it in writing (big mistake that I will NEVER make again). Fast forward a bit, there was bad weather in the forecast and we called to make sure they were going to put tarps or something on the roof before the storm. At that point they said oh no, that isn't part of our contract they didn't have any crews available for that. New Years Eve when the big storm hit even though we did our best to make the roof water tight ourselves it leaked an inch of water over our entire family room ruining the brand new ceiling and floors that were just completed. There is no way we would have hired them to do this project without that guarantee, there were 2 other companies who had the exact same roofing material and both were a bit less expensive who could have done the job long before RE Roofing and the storms, but because RE Roofing was a small family run company who promised they would take care of us we chose them. Shortly after the big flood they did manage to squeeze us in to their busy schedule earlier than our original date so we didn't have a repeat flood and we appreciated that. 3. The gutters, while we were very unhappy with the gutters we chose, those are the ones we ordered. We were never shown pictures or samples of the gutters and were never told and were not aware that they would be installed with rivets. That said, while I was unhappy with the rivets and would have liked gutters replaced, at the end of the day that is what we ordered and again shame on us for not doing our own research and for trusting in the professionals to be honest with us and to educate us. However, the rivets were not our biggest complaint! The part that was completely unacceptable was that there were visible holes in nearly every seam where water could leak from the gutters and at nearly all of the seams pieces of gutter sticking up and cuts and corners were uneven. (see posted pictures of only a few of the many places the gutter workmanship was subpar) What made this worse is that even to this day RE Roofing thinks it is the rivets not the shoddy workmanship that we were complaining about. It took a couple of visits from RE demanding final payment (which we withheld) before the owner got involved and when he did he finally understood that while we were not happy with our gutter choice it was the instillation was unacceptable and he had the gutter guys back out to fix their workmanship. So the long and the short of it is that our experience with RE Roofing was not good and it is clear that they were as done with us as we were with them. Based of the few (under 30) Yelp reviews they have had it appears that we were an anomaly, and I really hope that is the case because I still do root for and try to support local family owned and operated businesses. The one thing I would recommend is that no matter who you chose for your roofing needs no matter how much you trust them that you GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING, this way you can avoid any miscommunication and both parties have a clear understanding of what expectations are. read more
