Any time we came to visit, there was a happy buzz in the air. Not only is every single person on staff highly trained and always upbeat, but the facility is very pretty, nicely decorated and cozy, inside and out. Benchmark helped us get a speedy move-in date, and did everything they could to keep our mother, who was in memory care, busy and feeling loved. We were delighted by the constant array of events that were planned for the residents. One of our favorites was the Brazilian jazz lunch that had a huge live band a buffet to fit the theme. Many people got up to dance and all the residents were smiling. We noticed that all the staffers went out of their way to talk to all residents in the halls when passing by - always sharing a witty line to help the residents feel a part of a larger community. We feel it takes a special understanding of this community to do a great job and it comes from the top down. The company does a fine job on all levels. Highly recommended! Thank you again to all at Benchmark for taking great care of our mother and giving our family peace of mind during a difficult time. As they say, it takes a village- and Benchmark is best village. Fondly, the Haydens

While at the gym today, a very infirmed man had trouble and was in pain to the point of nearly fainting. I asked if he needed help since he could barely stand even with a walker. I looked around the Ground floor for help, but there was no one. I recommended that he press his emergency pendent, which he did. No one came. After five minutes, still no one came. More time passed. Still no one. I decided to go upstairs to the main desk to say someone needed help in the gym. They said they were aware of the emergency call but could not locate him. I then went downstairs and noticed a woman had finally arrived. However, she was rude, and ignored his request for a wheelchair, and began for forcefully push him backwards on his walker. When he mentioned his frustration about not being found after pushing the pendent, she just responded, "I'm here now." I said she arrived only because of me notifying the front desk, and she again slightly angrily repeated her statement. I was appalled at her attitude, but more importantly, her ignoring his request for a wheelchair, which he clearly needed. I went upstairs to reflect what I witnessed and to complain. I was then introduced to a manager. I said that I would hate to have my 84 year old mother treated this way if she had an emergency.

The upside of that is better quality in both food and service and programs. The residents are upscale and hip . I actually leave with a smile on my face usually not the case when you visit other facilities. The brunches pre Covid are amazing with unlimited mimosas even though my 93 year old mom never has more than one. My mom loves it there and that's the most important thing. From Albert who's like a personal concierge eager to help to Gaye and all the people in nursing to Jessica and others in food service are amazing. Peace of mind that's she's well taken care of.

There were several incidents--he needed the bedpan and they took so long bringing it to him that he messed the bed. Then the aide yelled at HIM because he made more work for her! He went for a whole day without getting any water and when he would ask, they would act annoyed like he was bothering them. We had to repeatedly call the supervisor. The last call resulted in our not speaking with the supervisor, but a nurse, Renee. I have never been spoken to so rudely and unprofessionally in my 42 years of doing business. She wouldn't even let me (or my sister) finish a sentence without going on some unintelligible rant. Our elder family members are at the mercy of these people. They are uncaring, unsympathetic, unprofessional, RUDE, and supposed to be taking care of them. However, the physical therapy team is excellent. It's too bad that the majority of time they spend is with the problematic staff members.
