I teach Zumba for seniors at the Osborn. I am presently teaching independent living. The residents are in incredible shape physically and mentally. The entire vibe there is upbeat. There is a strong sense of community and caring by both the staff towards the residents, and by the residents toward each other. There is always something interesting going on. I have had the opportunity to have lunch in the dining room. The food was extraordinary. Healthy and top quality. I have also taught 8n the Pavilion memory center wing of the Osborn. I have witnessed the lovely care and respect for the residents here too. The grounds are STUNNING. The interior is gorgeous and beautifully appointed. There is a distinct sense of grandeur at the Osborn. I have taught all over westchester for 20 years. Nothing compares to this magnificent place. read more

This review is specifically about the Pavilion, the Rehab section at the Osborne. If you care for your loved one, avoid the Pavilion at all costs. My parent was there for 6 days and was neglected. I was with there most of the time and my parent's call button was rarely answered. Due to their negligence, I had to call the paramedics one morning so we could receive the care we needed. The 911 operator even admitted that it was hard for them to get a response from Pavilion staff. Go elsewhere and avoid the risk. read more

If there were no stars I would choose that option. My mother was here in 2011 and it was the place to be. This place has done a 180. I was warned by a friend that her mother almost died in their care due to erroneous meds but went with my prior experience. I should have listened. They are well understaffed or do not know how to utilize them. There was no communication from social work (Eli) or PT albeit several calls to them, their managers, and facility managers. Everytime I went there no one was available. Finally they called us in for a meeting and advised us of a possible discharge date. We asked they work to get Mom moving as she hadn't walked to a shower or the bathroom in 6 weeks, but she walked 25 feet or more in therapy. It made no sense until I realized they just wouldn't or couldn't with their staffing. After several calls to follow up again, the social worker left for vacation and never called. We called and spoke to the supervisor who told us she was being discharged Monday and it was just two days away. Mom came in for rehab from a hip fracture and their notes to Medicare were erroneous. She walked prior to surgery and kept her on pain meds even though she did not need them. I insisted they stop. Still they came in twice a day to ask her if she wanted pain meds. Nice way to end up addicted. No wonder she couldn't walk well or advance in therapy. We could not let her go home to live there as she couldn't get out of bed! So we had to scramble to find assistance. Osborn referred us to a place in White Plains that cost over $14,000 per month! I did some digging and ran into others with recent experiences here. They all said they advanced in health when they left and were properly cared for! Mom is out in another facility doing much better and advancing. Unfortunately it's coming out of her pocket. I also received a bill for a few days at Osborn at her own cost - and that social worker is still employed there. Watch out. It's not at all what it used to be. read more

Beautiful campus, attentive staff, spacious individual rooms. My grandmother had double knee surgery and Burke was about to kick her out, so Osborn took her in. It's a rehab and retirement center in one. Almost all of my family members in NY have come here at one point following a surgery--my dad for his knees, my grandmother for her hip, and my grandfather for his hip. And every single time has been a great recovery experience. Love that there is so much scenery-wise. Plenty of gardens, numerous walkways to explore, and even a manmade fish pond. It is so peaceful coming here--kind of like you're on a mini vacation. read more

If you have a family member who is no longer able to stay home on their own, this is the place where they should be. This facility has everything and I mean everything. I will list what I know they have and I am sure I am missing something. First off, there are homes on the perimeter of the main building where residents who are retired can live on their own. These homes are pretty spectacular. The main residence has fully furnished apartments within a large facility. These apartments have large bedrooms, a very nice kitchen and a lovely living room area. The amenities are....seating dining area for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is delivered to the residents rooms each morning. There is a buffet dining room area. There is a bistro dining area. There is also a fine dining area which requires reservations and appropriate dress. I think there is another dining area but with so many dining areas I was getting a bit confused as to the options. Beauty salon with full services including manicures, library, banking, bingo, music hall on one floor and auditoriums on another floor. Exercise classes, art classes, all sorts of crafting classes, Swimming pool, movie area. There are common areas on the floors with large screen TV's for everyone to gather and watch TV. There is a thrift store on site open at specific times during the week. There are social workers on site that coordinate with the residents on activities to keep the residents up and moving. Medications are brought to the residents rooms daily at the time they are to take the medications. No worrying if your loved one has forgotten their medications at this place.They have a bus that takes residents shopping and also car service for off site events. Basically their own personal Uber. All of these amenities are in the living area where residents can live on their own with little or no assistance. Some of the residents do have their own aids that stay with them. Some residents have their dogs and are able to walk them on the lovely campus. This place is beautiful and has a beautiful setting. Off of the main building is the nursing home living area. This is for residents who need specialized and more monitored assistance. Even this area is amazing. Like no other care facility I have ever visited. As long as the resident is not bed ridden, they are up and in a common area either watching TV or participating in another activity. There are two floors to the nursing area. There is a common dining room where everyone eats their meals. They residents dine with a nursing assistant incase they need specialized help with eating. After eating the residents return to the common area to again watch TV or participate in other activities. The specialized nursing facility has residents rooms which in no way feel like a nursing home. Residents can bring in their own decorating items from home. Between each little quad of rooms is a common seating area with large screen TV's and books to read. There is a pantry with cereals, juices, milk and nutritional drinks in every flavor. It looks like the ratio of aids to patients is 2 to 1. No worry that your forgetful loved one might walk offsite without the facility being aware. The residents wear special watches which set off alarms should they go beyond the facilities doors. Only those patients that have a tendency to wander and be a bit forgetful wear these watches. This is a 5 star long term living resort for your loved one. If you can afford it, this is the place for any senior needing a little or a lot of extra help to live. read more

It is with a heavy heart with which I write the following. I cannot in good faith recommend this facility to anyone. My experience is as follows: about two years ago, my mother and father moved into the independent section of the Osborn (called Sterling Park) and overall their experience was fine. Then about six months ago my mother died, and my father, who has dementia, was so confused and grief-stricken about her death that he was beside himself with anger. Because as most people know who have cared for individuals with dementia, you cannot reason with a person with this cognitive impairment, I asked the nursing staff at the Osborn to please administer some psychotropic medications to calm him him down. However, they dragged their feet and essentially did not cooperate with my request. As a result, my father became agitated to the point of his being out of control, and who did they blame? That's right, they blamed my father who is suffering from dementia. They then basically evicted him from Sterling Park (even though he had a 24/7 private pay aide) and insisted that he move to the Memory Unit. When my family refused to comply, they dumped him in the nursing home section (The Pavilion) and to add insult to injury, said that he had to continue to have a 24/7 private pay aide, even though there are aides who work on the floor who have a ratio of one aide to every three or four patients at the most. When I would visit my father, he was always unshaven and wearing filthy clothes. The cost for this privilege of living in the Pavilion with private pay aides? Thirty thousand dollars a month. Needless to say, we took my father out of the Osborn four months ago and it was the best decision we ever made. Now my father is living in an apartment with a private pay aide for a fraction of the cost and every day he is well cared for and clean and shaved. The bottom line? I feel that the Osborn performed a standard bait and switch. The minute that they felt they could get more money out of my father, they jumped and forced him to move out of the independent living section (which is far less than the Memory Unit and Nursing Home sections). I know that they would defend themselves by saying that they did so because of his behaviors, but I can promise you this, that had they done what I asked and given him the proper psychotropic medications, his behaviors would have been controlled until the worst of his grief had passed. But they adamantly refused to do this and blamed my father as a result. My one word of advice to prospective residents? Buyer beware. If they have an opportunity to take advantage of your loved ones, they will. read more

I would recommend The Osborn to anyone looking! My grandmother loves it and we love everything from the gorgeous campus to the amazing amenities. Right now, she is part of the independent living area of the campus, but I know they also offer assisted living and nursing home services. Also, every staff member I've encountered has been nice and friendly. I could go on and on but it all comes down to it being a 5 star long term living facility for your loved ones. NEVER SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!!!! This place is a travesty! My mother was admitted from a hospital setting. From the beginning the Osborn Pavilion was terrible. The woman in charge was a nightmare. My Mom suffers from Dementia and was is on psych. meds and they never had a psych evaluation. I was unable to speak to my Mom for over a week. My questions went unanswered and when I did speak to Noreen Vivolo who is the head of the Pavilion she was defensive and non-helpful. My Mom was supposed to go on to the Assisted Living program and we had an apartment reserved for her. They unceremoniously told me that I had less than a week to get her out, arrange for outside home nursing care during Co-vid and secure her home apartment. They sent her home with no meds, and a UTI and an indwelling catheter!!!! We had to hire a nursing case care worker to deal with them. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! read more

Making long care health decisions for a parent is nerve racking. However, the Osborn has exceeded all of my expectations in terms of the care, respect, professionalism and love they have provided to my mother. From the moment she entered she was expertly guided to making new friends and rekindling former talents (she loves her painting lessons and the paint shows where she gets to display them)! From concerts, to book talks, to being interviewed by Rye High School students, to off site shows and travels, there is always something to keep her meaningfully engaged. When I visit her I can't help but notice the amazing group of supportive friends she interacts with throughout the day. Equally important is the wonderful relationships she has made with all the staff and administration at the Osborn. They genuinely like and care for her. My mom is still "with it" at nearly 98 years old, and as a result of the supportive Osborn environment and caring community they establish, more than any medication, she has thrived there. What more can a daughter ask for? I should come as not surprise that I have recommended the Osborn to my friends for their parents, and they too are glad they chose the Osborn. read more
