The second night he was there, he asked for pain medication and has to ask several times and after 3 hrs., they brought him medication. The room and bathroom was not clean and dirty gloves were left on the floor. He needed a bath and they got to him 5 days later which I found unacceptable. My experience with most of the staff was indifference. They sometimes wouldn't even respond to a question plus in many cases they were hard to understand because of dialect. When approaching one of the desk areas with 2-3 nurses, none of them looked up or acknowledged that I was there and very little eye contact and almost no smiling, I will give a positive shout out to Ruth bc she was the one bright spot there and always had a smile on her face and made you feel as though she cared. My husband truly felt like he was going do die there, so we immediately transferred and had him admitted to the ER in Texas Health in Frisco and had to have his Gall Bladder removed they said was very large, painful and will take quite awhile to heal. With the tests he was given at the Belmont, this was never picked up, so I am grateful that we left there and I absolutely would not recommend it to anyone with a loved one needing assistance. FYI, several doctors in Allen and Frisco had heard of the poor care at the Belmont but I'm not going to throw them under the bus! I would rate our experience as a minus 1. From sales to director of nursing to director, and most importantly, the caregivers and folks that interact with residents daily - every single one of these folks actually seem to like their work and care about the residents! They have regular Zoom meetings for family members and a group WhatsApp to share news and pictures of activities and events. It's truly amazing to me - and especially when this is a stressful time for family members too. So happy we chose Grand Brook for our mom!

We brought her home that weekend and the loving and caring staff not only got her comfortable but more importantly, she had a series of falls the last few months before this hospital visit, so she had not walked for almost 8 months. She was started on some muscle strengthening exercises, given some tender love and care, and not only did she make it through the weekend, but she walked about a month later for the first time in a long time, and lived almost 7 months after receiving such initial devastating news.
